    2008 djokovic was the best #3 player winning big titles & losing only to fedal #1 & #2 in slams & masters except wimby where safin outplayed him. Won AO & atp finals this year & it is definitely his best season before prime (2011-2016).

      Yeah he just didn’t have the mental strength nor body conditioning that he does since 2011 to beat the big two back then.

      @@Deerjason In 2008, he only retired from one match.. he was already playing long matches and he scored some wins over them.

      @@kenanderkroate 99% of pro players never win Masters Title. The fact that Djokovic has 40 Masters Titles just proves his greatness.

      Windy conditions here may not favour him like in montecarlo. Except him to reach atleast semis but he is definitely winning Miami if he can't win title here.

    This is why I consider the view that Djokovic was a late bloomer to be completely unfounded. He won his first major at 20 years old and had a couple of masters titles by that point. The only reason he seemed like a late bloomer is bc no one predicted that he would reach the level that he did in 2011 and become the GOAT in the decade that followed and bc he was just one year younger than Nadal who had won even more by that point. But make no mistake, this man was a protege. If we saw a young djokovic at twenty years old among today's generation he would be held in the same regard as sinner or alcaraz right now.

    Not one highlight of Marty winning a point. Young Djoko looking like sinner, painting, sprinting. Marty working hard as the young body savant, years later, what great tennis, Nadal hitting that fire hot darn! throw the rackets WAR, Djo was like "make me lose this point, nah."

      Nope I think his body abilities were too limited comparing to his 2011 season..in 2009 his serve was a totally disaster ...and in 2010 the first half was one of his worst ever only second to 2017 season

      @@masters.1000 lyer 2008 was the best year of djokovic, but out of his prime, later he has to start troubles with his back and has to change his serve motion, after a 2008 with the racket change he lost consistency on his strokes, specially on the serve and backhand side, we saw in 2009
