IF YOU INSTALL A ALPINE HEAD UNIT, YOU HAVE TO CUT THE GREEN WIRE LOOP ON THE AERPRO 12 PIN CONNECTOR TO HAVE YOUR STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS CONTROL THE HEADU NIT! FOUND THIS OUT ONCE IT WAS TOO LATE AND I HAD DONE THE INSTALL! There is links in the VIDEO DESCRIPTION to the Aerpro V2 Kit, Alpine iLX-507 head unit, and dash trim removal tools!
I saw that when you were showing the instructions. So for wiring, you didn't have to purchase any other harnesses. I just bought the Aerpro from Joe along with the universal harness (not sure which unit I'm going with yet) and I'd really like the steering wheel volume controls to work
@@Cammed97C5 I bought the harness that was specific for the brand of head unit that I was going with. The wiring diagram for the SWC patch is what you have to pay attention to for steering wheel controls.
Awesome video with very detailed walk-through. Thank you. Quick question where did you route the USB connections for easy access? I'm thinking of firmware updates, etc.
I just buttoned up the last of it today. Forgot to check the comments about the green wire. OOF. For some reason my 507 kept shutting off while holding it to make sure everything was good before I put it back in. Anyways appreciate it once again.
Great step-by-step. My radio and A/C module are F'd. Does this setup replace the car's original A/C module? It obviously replaces the controls, but is this replacing the module?
@@whiplashtv2022 thanks. The dealership guy says my module is bad, which is separate from the controls. I've been getting different stories from different people on this issue so I thought I'd ask.
Try to reprogram it as shown in the video and see if that fixes anything. Also, I show in the “review video” how to do a reset/reprogram with the Areopro system.
Hey awesome video, can I ask, in the videos I have seen, why do the buttons look so dim or like theyre flickering? Is that the camera or just how the buttons are? Thanks!
The flickering is the camera. They are just slightly dim but definitely visible. I have a review video here on the channel where I go in further depth on this unit.
Yes it has an auto setting. I have another video on the channel that is a full overview of the controls, functions, and a review of it. ruclips.net/video/Iz8qLPPOTKQ/видео.html
I have a question I asked this on the G8 site how do you get the phone controls to function everything else works as it should I'm using a pioneer head end
Do the brackets for the head unit come with anything you've purchased? I'm getting the parts together so I can have it installed into my own G8 and just want to make sure that I don't have to scramble for anything else.
@@whiplashtv2022 I'll have to look through it more closely once I have the Aerpro and am ready to proceed because I didn't see those metal brackets you were showing off for the sides of the head unit itself.
I have the exact same setup, but for whatever reason, i can't use the settings on the display. My guess is that since the car thinks it's in drive or not in parkedit won't let me use the settings. I was wondering if you had any issues with that and if you could give any advice.
So the 1 negative with this head unit is that you have to pull the parking brake to do the settings, equalizer, etc. You have to do the parking brake 2X. So pull the parking brake, release it, and then pull it 1 more time and then you can do it all. Also, did you see the pinned comment and the information about the green wire?
Yes you can, but I am not installing an amp. I already upgraded the 8” factory subs to Kicker subs and adjusted the factory amp and it sounds great to me.
Got mine installed at a good reputation local shop. They did a great job was all working great. Then all of a sudden only the steering wheel controls work now. The knobs on the actual aerpro are not working. Did I enter a mode on accident ? HELP
@@darvidlsx6.0 the only other thing that I can think of is to disconnect the battery, give it 10 minutes or so and then hook it back up and see it that resets it. Otherwise, reach out to the place that you purchased it.
Appreciate the walk through. It is the same for a base 2008 G8. Only at 18:30 where you disconnect the antenna and the other connector is for the atari gauges. So that's to be left connected if you have the atari gauges. Thanks again for the help brother.
