This actress is not the typical
Korean beauty and seems to always play the villain but she match this strong female role.
Wtf are you saying, she's exactly the beauty canon in Korea
I think they meant she doesn't play roles of the typical Korean beauty that is portrayed in rom-com k-dramas, instead shows her talent of acting through playing the villain/anti-hero
exactly....FL doesn't have that SOFT BEAUTY in KDrama....her EYES say 'don't F-with Me'......lmao
Its been a while since i watched a masterpiece. And got to tell yall this is definitely one hell of a masterpiece. The cinematography, story, acting, plot. Everything was 10/10.
Thanks for the review.
It was well crafted, I'd say. But, the plot was exactly John Wick girl version.
really I'll check it out then...if it wasn't I'll write it here too😅
@@mimilili6568 im really curious now, did you watch it??😳😳
@@idont2520Just watched it today. I respect your opinion about this movie but for me it was slow paced boring...😕
Somebody please give this movie's cast production crew directors editors soundtrack some awards ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ it was absolutely incredible from beginning to end ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This Korean movie has no waste of any shot or any moment. Sound, music and cinematography are pure enjoyment for action movie lovers. Better than so many Hollywood blockbuster waste-of-times.
Remember the, "My Name". This is gonna be the same standard as that one, I have watched that series for multiple time, and I'm so happy we're getting another series like that, can't wait
It's a movie sadly
My Name is just epic revenge drama. Seen it multiple times since it’s release. If not already watch film The Villainess similar set but very good.
that show is badass.
Your Name was epic. Primary antagonist actually wins as he predicted
My Name was good. If you haven’t already I recommend Mask Girl. It has that revenge vibe as well, but not from where you expect it
Just finished watching this. ghad i just love the silent chaos this film gives to the viewer. It's so well executed, the casting, acting, cinematography, the utilization of color in storytelling, storyline, even the chosen soundtrack.
Lee Chungyun just never miss bruh, his works so far are all just crazy good. Pair that with Jeon Jongseo's acting, its just so good (even at 'The Call', it's also crazy good)
(edit: re-reading this, I feel like I just got too excited after everything haha. Now that I think about it, plot-wise, it is typical, nothing new that gives you a shocking and chilling after effect, still, I still think that its good and what I said still stands for me. Though, I still like 'The Call' a little bit more than this)
I like this one because she didn't take long to finish them all (*cough cough the boss cough cough*) no useless talk, just action
@@rubyjulivre1136 Exactly!
and I also like that scene because when he said "Let's talk", all I could think about was "Here we go with some shtty lines from a side character", then she just did *that*. I was so delighted.
@@gaothepotato Yess it was just so satisfying & refreshing to see
I agree plot wise it is typical but everything else? AMAZING. It's like this is the best predictable story I've ever seen haha. Also I'm thinking of watching The Call after reading your comment. Ty hope it's just as good!!
The plot wasn’t anything new or intriguing. But the cinematography was amazing.
I’m SO EXCITED to see this!!! I hope Netflix keeps making such exciting & gritty movies & shows with badass female leads !!
Watch My Name!
oh no...but the critical drinker will be moaning endlessly.
@@ianw0ngonly if she's a Mary Sue with zero character development, you know, like typical Hollywood drivel, the kind you apparently love.
@@ianw0ng In a world where many of his peers have completely gone full brainrot, he was barely managing to stay sane.

another show with nonsensical writing and lightyears away from reality!!!
you know it’s a good film when kim jihoon and jeon jongseo are in it
You mean Kim jun ong
i will take your word for it since i dont know who they are😅

Jeez this got me yelling on every fight scene 😂 love this girl sm! Never disappoints me on her acting skills

Park shin hye is also in this Im pretty sure it was her the highschool girl
@@spencerhowland6446 that ain't her and she's 4 years older than her
Stylish fight scenes that keep the viewer on the edge of their seat. Visceral but satisfying justice. A dark, gritty, but also kind of beautiful atmosphere throughout. Overall, it was great.
My only wish was that the writers did more to develop Okju's relationship with Minhee and show the emotional journey she goes on to after losing her. The flashbacks that flesh out their relationship are beautiful- They show how a little love that save a person who's in a deep depression. Both actresses do a great job of playing their characters, and Jeon Jeongseo clearly can portray those emotions; The scenes where her mask cracks and she lets out her feelings are really moving. I just wish there was more chance to develop that relationship. That would've made this a masterpiece in my opinion and made the revenge even more satisfying.
Y’all always want extra. Y’all always have an opinion about everything. I bet you that if the director had developed their relationship, some people would still have something to say that it spanned for too long and wasn’t really necessary. You can’t really satisfy people. And let’s be honest, the fact the min hee could make her smile, share her birthday with her, showed her, her favourite place in the world, talked about her dreams with her and even got her presents was enough to pass the theme of friendship across to the audience. Sometimes it’s not how far but how well. That little moment of joy was enough to make the main character come back alive and that was more than enough for her.
I would argue that the scenes of their relationship were adequate and a perfect amount overall. Even her mourning scene was enough. It's really impressive how they showed us their connection using only that much. They were just simply friends and Ok ju didn't need any more reason to get revenge for her. It was beautiful and satisfying and it's part of what made this movie a cinematic gem.
@GloriaAesthetics I was satisfied with the film. It was great.
But art is also open to interpretation and critique. It's useful to reflect on art and it's highly subjective.
For example, you say that it was about friendship. That's valid. But I think their relationship was a little deeper than that.
In the film, Minhee kind of pulled Okju out of something- some kind of trauma or depression. Remember how she said she had resigned herself to dying and that she didn't feel she was alive until she met Minhee. Beautiful, right? But I don't know if I'd call that a "friendship." I don't know what I'd call it, and I think it's too the film's credit that they didn't label that relationship. But it raises the questions like what happened to Okju to make her so detached from life? How do you show the impact of having someone you love deeply ripped away from you in a way that doesn't feel overwrought or too understated?
It's tough. And I sure as hell am not suggesting I could do a better job. But isn't the point of art to be thought-provoking and spark discussion? Ballerina succeeds at that, and everyone who worked on it deserves praise for that. But if the only discussion that came out of it was "What a great film" without any critique, would it really be that interesting?
Also, there's a really cool interview with Jeon Jeongseo and the actress who played Minhee on Netflix Korea's RUclips channel where Jeongseo says that Minhee was kind of like Okju's "unrequited love". I thought this was a really nice description because it shows how Okju viewed Minhee- as someone who meant more to her than she did to Minhee. Do you want the link? It's interesting, but it's in Korean so I don't know how accessible it is.
@unravel9716 I agree with the point that it's a skill to make an audience invested in a character with so little dialogue and screen-time. And Ballerina certainly does a great job of that. It's amazing that so much was done with so little.
I disagree with the idea that they were friends, and that was enough for her to get revenge though. You don't kill for a friend.
Imagine how much less sympathetic Okju's character would have been if Minhee was just a friend, and there weren't any flashbacks showing how much Minhee meant to her; How much she pulled her out of her nihilistic detachment from life. Or if 최 프로 (the villain; I don't know how they spelt out his name in English) wasn't such a monster? All of that context was necessary.
If you think it was the right amount of character and relationship development, that's fair. But just being friends doesn't really justify the revenge plot for me.
@@unravel9716 I also agree it's a beautiful and satisfying gem of a film.
i knew it was him when i saw the man bun. i was not disappointed
Who? Is it Kim Ji-hoon?

I knew I couldn't go wrong with Ballerina since most shows/movies from South Korea I've watched have been leagues beyond what's coming out of Hollywood, but I had no idea it was going to be THIS good. It was so raw and unique. THE most beautiful violent movie I've seen. The aesthetics, the music, the acting, the fighting choreography... all perfect. 11/10 stars.
Seriously though, what the hell is in the water in South Korea?! Their talent is INSANE.
I love this kind of kdrama!!! That has you glued to the screen with its plot twists, cliffhangers & action. I'm really excited, can't wait to watch it omg!!!

Loved how manly the boss in every scene the she suddenly shoots his head that cracks me up 😂😂😂

I cannot get enough of how well made this movie is. It's just STUNNING 🥹 The choreography, color palette, osts, camera works, lighting use I could just go on and on about the parts I absolutely loved. It felt so short before I knew it the movie was already over and yet I was left feeling really satisfied. The drama elements, its narrative and flashbacks, everything was so well balanced. Nothing was that exceptionally unique to the plot but it made up with all its other amazing factors and served its purpose of just being a quick adrenaline rush watch. Thought this falls into the category "nothing new but perfectly executed" plot. I already feel like rewatching it!
This movie was such a masterpiece from the cinematography to soundtrack to acting i got goosebumps when the fl fights the men alone she's such a badass and the soundtrack makes it much more fantastic it felt like I'm playing a videogame

Having discovered Korean films and series (The Glory, My Name) on Netflix I am left with only one conclusion....Never piss off a Korean!
Just watched it. Great movie, good fighting scenes.
I’m so glad they didn’t kill her off!! I find that many movies tend to kill main characters in action, thriller films. 1000/10👌
Just watched this. Plot-wise, it's ur typical action-revenge. Nothing new. But what made this movie good is the cinematography. It is solid 💯 Kudos to the director, making the fight scene aesthetique ✨️

People who have seen The Call and The Flower of Evil know exactly how epic this movie's going to be. I need to mentally prepare myself before watching this!!!!
true me too
I'm fascinated by this long ago woman.
Mryna Loy was a fellow ballet/dance student with Natacha under T. Kosloff.
Myrna said she never saw a lovelier woman, mentioning NR abundant long hair & golden eyes. Natacha was helpful to Loy in her early silent films.
Even with different standards of beauty over the past 100 years, Rambova is stunning in any decade.
Honestly this is like female Korean version of John Wick to ever happen, filled with high octane action in a much more feminine and badass way than never imagined 🤩❤️ Can’t wait for this drama to come out, literally am excited 😍❤️💖🤩🥰

Same director (Lee Chung-hyun) and actress (Jeon Jong-Seo) as The Call. She has only been in 5 movies with this one, and she is already one of the most interesting actress in the Asian scene.
I’m excited for this because I love a good revenge thing
Lee Chung-hyeon is such an amazing director. I loved The Call (2020) and I can't wait to see this one now.

This totally brings to mind my ballet classes from my youth.
😅
I love to follow a journey of change & retribution and revenge stories provides me with just the essential elements. This revenge story right here made me feel & think. Cut through in moral ambiguity & traffic in pure violent intentions, that kept me at the edge of my seat the whole time. Just a normal woman, who look like she can see through your soul, the way her eyes don't give you anything -: just blank expressions, but watch how she unleashed the beast in her when she's in action. Very unpredictable, & reacts only when she's required to. Whew I could go on & on ... And to think that she did all that for her bestie🥹 Just take all my money! Thank you for this movie. Definitely a breathe of fresh air from all these predictable romance dramas that I've been binging lately💀
I watched this last night and menh I was not disappointed. 😊
