Fun fact: Soarin' opened in Disneyland in 2001 and was just themed to California. When it opened in Disney World in 2005, they changed the concept to "Soarin' around the World".
Soarin at WDW was actually Soarin Over California until 2017 when it became Soarin Over America.
Everyone knows this dumb 💩
Columbia is a Spanish restaurant. The first one was built in Ybor City, part of Tampa, 100 years ago and is still going strong.
I'm not trying to act like I know all about youtube, but I feel really confident that you will get an insane amount of views if you did multiple Disney videos while you stayed at a Disney Resort and did all the crazy stuff for the first time. Having a British perspective would be so fascinating and I would watch them over and over! I just think it would be a really great investment that would pay off ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I was staying at the resort on business, and I was in the lobby at 10:00 pm. I saw two young children hopping and skipping as they came around the corner, they were very happy and energetic and then behind them by about 30 ft. mom and dad came shuffling along carrying arm loads of stuff and clearly exhausted it was funny.
It would be nice to see local restaurants instead of the chains.
As a Miamian, I can attest that it's not Florida. Some would say that it's not even the USA.
A large part of the reason that service jobs in the US are having a shortage is that, for the first time in decades, if not the first time ever in US history, the pandemic gave people time off work who wouldn't have otherwise had it and it was for long enough to have them all realize how awful service job employees are treated and paid in general. Now, most people aren't willing to go back to them in those same conditions and very few, if any, companies are willing to pay them a real current living wage. The attitude for service jobs in the US like wait staff and retail workers is that those jobs are beneath human dignity except as a way to get teenagers their first job to learn how to be on time and do as they're told by someone other than their parents. You have people in the US who don't realize that adults used to be able to live rather well and have families on just one income at a grocery store. A woman was quoted the other day somewhere after complaining at a grocery store saying, I kid you not, "I have a degree, so I don't have to work retail or at a grocery store!". What she didn't know is that the employees she was insulting, including the manager, have degrees. Some people, probably in the UK too, in the US can't get jobs that fit their education, so they end up in a service job.
Your right, these jobs were not designed to live on, they really are for teenagers. But these businesses generally don’t have high profit margins , they were never designed to make a real living on. If you make restaurants ..etc pay them 20 plus dollars a hour they would go out of business. And really why should they get paid that much? This isn’t a job designed to be done as a career. No one invested any money into getting these jobs.
They learned government dependence
I could have not possibly said it better. 100% correct.
@@Erin60147 I don't agree that they are only for teenagers. My point was that too many Americans think that way now and look down upon anyone other than a teenager doing those jobs. Decades ago you COULD make a living and have a family working at a grocery store, as I also said. Restaurants would not go out of business. No other first world nation thinks that way about business other than America. Goodbye.
@@SGlitz You don't really know what you're talking about. Learn better! Goodbye.
I only go to Epcot during the Food and Wine festival. I recommend that.
Disney hotels are great because of the little ferries and monorails that take you around the parks.
I would never in a million years go out to dinner and eat beans. I want a full course meal including either a juicy steak, or prime rib, or a good seafood platter, crab legs ect.
I'd be curious to know what you thought of Disney Springs and how/if you enjoyed Raglan Road. I agree that I'd enjoy getting your perspectives on the madness that is often happening in the Orlando parks. I would love to learn more about places like Miami as well. Much more fun to watch you experience it than a recap.
Maybe try local instead of chain restaurants.❤️
always local over chain.
I volunteer as Disney tour guide 👋
Pro-tip NEVER rent a car at the airport.
Book the rental off-site and Uber/Lyft to it from the airport. You'll save quite a bit of $$. The rate is normally lower and airport car rentals tend to include daily airport fees & taxes.
You guys really need to try and make it to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal if you can
OMG soooo good! I kinda think they'd hate it though
"Adam the Woo" lives in Celebration and has a massive youtube following (thedailywoo). He's obsessed with all things Disney. Look him up next time you go. Would be cool to see you all in one video!
I don’t get the AC in restaurants. Food gets cold too!
When it's 100F degrees, 37C, outside, do you want to not have a/c inside?
@@jenniferrrrr71 no one is saying don’t have AC - just not on Arctic setting 🥶
So did you guys actually exerience ORLANDO? Or just Lake Buenavista (the theme parks)?? Many confuse the two. Orlando is its own city.
Eggslut (enjoyed watching you both cook) in the UK.
Oh, and the staff shortage is in a huge lag right now!! I am almost always understanding. What am I gonna do get mad and solve it? Lol
If I am having a bad day already, sometimes it's frustrating because I don't have the time to spare.
I can't wait to hear your review of Miami!
Byeee
Oh I wish I would have known you were here! I could have got you into WDW for free!
I am pretty sure I know why many of your viewers are not subscribed. It is because they do not have a youtube account and do not want to make one. I know it sounds wild but why would you need one when the algorithm shows you all the channels you watch anyway? That was the case for me for many years until my son wanted to start a youtube channel. Just my two cents and now that I have typed this all out I am not sure why I did. Seems pointless, but there you have it. I am not deleting it. Carry on with the good work and all the tangents. I love a tangent!
You spend so much time in the US that one has to wonder when you'll just move here. 😂
Am Im the only person that enjoyed epcot as a kid?
You went to Columbia but didn't have a Cuban sandwich? Par for the course with you 2. :(
They have _Cuban_ sandwiches in _Colombia_ ? Why? Are you sure? Very confused Cuban-Spanish American here.
You should link up with Justin Scarred and his show Randomland he does Disney and "random" travel content ✨️
Why the name change? I must’ve missed a video or two.
why the switch from joel and lia?
What to dislike about Orlando, simple it is Orlando.
The "restaurants" you mentioned - don't bother. They're all fast food chains. Better to find a single owner good food place!
J&L - Still love your content, but my vote is, neigh to the short stuff. No offense, as I mean this to everyone who is doing this 'new craze', but without the 'depth', why bother? Just my opinion. I'm still a loyal fan, but I'm just saying ...,
How are you doing all this eating and not gaining weight?
I always think of Disney as a children's park or a park for Disney fans...am I wrong ??
No, you're not wrong. I went there as an 11 year-old back in the early 90s and even then I felt too old for it.
You guys should go fishing with Hey Skipper. Check out their YT. would make for an interesting collaboration and benefit both YT chyannels.
You know the world has not been the same since covid. Now Europe and the UK are headed for an energy crisis. You're electric bills are going to triple, and they are now saying 70% of restaurants are going to close in the UK for good by January. Are you both aware of this? It's all going to start going down by October.
Yes Leah and Joel, how will this effect you?
@@Erin60147 The war may expand.
That Orlando trip was also one of my favorites
now hiring for the same crappy wages. people are like nope.
I’d love to see y’all start going to local food places rather than always chain restaurants. Find unique local spots, doesn’t have to break the bank but something unique would be great info to share with all of us skinny legends…maybe not so skinny with Al the yummy eats. Lol
They won't though. They mainly go to chains and fast food. They are toddlers.
Walt Disney World definitely has lots of food options on property. From fast food to Fine dining. It's not the wdw from years ago. Go back again!!
Stop lying you had a great time at Epcot. Stop trying to pick everything apart.
I freeze too! I keep a sweater in my car to use when I go places.
Come to the USA 🇺🇸 again.
Hate the name change
Def need to go back to Epcot with someone who know how to do Disney! You wld love it
we have seen this before
Where are you guys! ..waiting for your video about the queen 😢♥️
RIP, dear Queen. God save the King.
Oh come on guys you are always ready to pick apart your trips. You both seemed so happy in Orlando. You did a lot, you had fun with all that tropical sun. On your way out of EPCOT you even said, it is really the most magical place on earth. Remember!!
Lol, don't you remember how they love to wine, thinking that's what they are doing here.
Never, ever even contemplate going to Disney World or the Orlando parks during the summer. It’s unbearably hot and humid and, since the kids are out of school, oppressively crowded. The times to go are April/May (make sure it’s not spring break) and September/October. Check that year’s weather to see which month would be best. The parks will be nearly empty with no lines and cooler weather. Only idiots and parents go during the summer.
We went once in October and it rained every day and night at parade times.
@@harrietbredehoft6578, very bad luck. The rainy (or rainier) season is over by then.
Well if y'all were smarter, you would have realized that asking them to turn down the a/c. Means to actually lower the temperature, making it actually colder not warmer. You should have been asking them to turn up the temp.💯😳😲🤔
Saucy correction 😶
No, powering the A/C makes it colder; turning it UP increases the BTUs and drops the temperature further. They were correct in asking them to turn DOWN the A/C, thus making the A/C produce LESS power, thus making the room LESS cold.
@@kates7277 They literally said" turn down the a/c" decreasing the temp....if I turn it up meaning increasing the temp...like going from 68F to 74F. Your version of turning it up or increasing the BTU's sounds like fan or output air flow speed to me. Example if the outside temp drops...it's getting cooler not warmer.
*mic drop*
Oh come on. 9 times out of 10 around here at least, when someone says to 'turn down the AC' they mean it's too cold. Alternatively, when too warm, people will typically ask to 'turn the temp down.'
Nobody who's cold will say 'hey let's crank up the AC' for example.
BURNING QUESTION: You call jelly "jam," and gelatin "jelly," so what do you call actual jam?
Car rental rates are outrageous all over for some reason. It's unreal. Sorry you had to deal with that! UGH. I used to live in Orlando for 8 years and worked as a singing actor at Disney World! Columbia is WONDERFUL. the original is in Tampa and both are great!
Last time I was in Orlando for DW was 2010 and 2011 and Epcot was one of my favorite parts and I wasn't even 21 just yet. Would love to do another disney trip as an adult.
Lovely, a always. Cheers from the Pacific West coast of Canada.
Columbia is my favorite restaurant everrrrrr
Jeep Jeep
I love it so much🤣 I used to say that when I drove a Jeep 😂
I’m from Orlando! Next time let me know and I can show you the real/local areas :)
It is 9/8/22. The Queen has just died. I am so sorry for the loss of your Mum.
Hi it would be cool to see you guys do some fitness challenges. A half marathon, training for a big hike. Swimming across the channel. You get the drift.
Sounds kinky
not their vibe!
Yeah….it would be entertaining,
For me, Between school and moving apartments twice this year..
I haven't been able to keep up with you two.
I manage to catch a bit here and there, but I'm a bit behind these days.
I'm glad you're still in America!
I do need to catch up! I'm not sure if you're still traveling across the states or are staying in Florida.
I suggested Saint Louis, Missouri at some point in the past when you were asking. Joel did say you two went to Nashville which would have been closest to STL MO then.
I have family in Nashville, but have never been. My sister goes a couple times a year.
Thanks for giving me the space to vent this comment out.
Love you, legends !
Missouri as a state is scenic and gorgeous. Downtown Saint Louis has changed a LOT in the last ten years.
Small businesses and artists are everywhere now . Its quaintness is matched by it's history.
Well, now that I've advertised for saint Louis 😂 I plan on binging your channel since I just worked for 36 hours straight. Literally, didn't take a break longer than 15 mins at a time. I was on my feet the entire time hauling things 😳
Today I am laying in my comfy bed sore as hell . Getting fit, lol. I'll be ready for CrossFit now 💪
Thinking they haven't been in the states for awhile now, and as you catch up you will see why, or is it on Joel's individual channel. Anyway they are taking a break for now. Hope you feel better after a rest.
@@bkm2797 They were visiting the USA often enough during the winter & spring (using the Visa Waiver Program/ESTA) that they risked being denied entry by U.S. Immigration. The advice they got was to spend at least 90 days outside the USA between visits. That seems to have worked because they have not been detained by Immigration lately.
Interesting about the visa esta, never heard of that before. Thinking they haven't had a problem because they haven't been back? These vlogs were from that time when they were experiencing problems upon arrival, just not sure why they waited to post them so much later. Thanks for the information.
Hiya Joel and Lia, is there any restaurants in USA that are British owned and run? I'm sure these Americans would love it, having traditional British cuisine , if there's any American or Canadians reading this British food isn't that bad in fact its nice and filling, this is Choppy in Whitehaven, Cumbria, England
You two ought to take the VIP tour of Universal Studios. You would love it.
Oh Joel did you tell Lia about the robot on the garbage truck ?
meet up with Kyle Pallo
I been to Epcot food festival many times, and it's fantastic! Did you know Germany has a Oktoberfest buffet. It's so good.
EPCOT has festivals year-round...the best one is Flower and Garden in the Spring!
Since people lost their jobs in the pandemic or otherwise couldn't go in to work they found other better jobs or found ways to work from home.
Must say again well done you two on answering all those American questions about the Queen’s death from the radio crew. Us Americans know how brutal that can be and you both did so well! Much respect 🫡.
