Karl was born a natural intellectual, but had the upbringing of a simple man. That's what makes him so brilliant, that duality. He's usually right about things, at their core, but he delivers them in such unique way. Mix this with a perfect natural comedic timing, and 1 liners to floor any sitcom writer, and it makes the funniest man on the planet
People need to stop insulting Ricky and actually thank him for bringing Karl to the lime light, without Ricky so generously giving his friend a job we would have no idea who he was!
Tiny Tim, go get a chicken. We all know it's meant to be Turkey, but the fact that in his mind he changed it to chicken and then made the disabled kid go get it is genius!
The reason I like christmas is just watching christmas films and cartoons and the whole build up. Everyone is happy etc all the decorations and christmas pictures they put on chocolate and stuff reminds me of when I was a kid and had no troubles, really it just Fills me full of childlike wonder and dreams... Until about January when you remember everything's still the same shit haha.
Bollocks. It's the reason I detest christmas. It's just lies and unrealistic expectations designed to make you spend money on shit you don't need and time with people you spend all fucking year avoiding. Burn it, I say. Burn it all to Hell!!! 😂 But seriously, I don't mind Christmas so long as I'm allowed to avoid it. Otherwise it's like spending weeks being jollied along to an interminable work party where you're expected to have fun but not in the way you want to.
I think Karl is one of the most naturally funny people ever. I could watch him all the time and never get fed up. I know he’s not into the trappings of fame but come on karl, we need more of you.
MKN No worries. I thought it was because he should have said turkey. And then I would have said "Ha !" it was a goose ! (at least I think it was a goose.)
+Paul L - Its not the chicken, it's the fact that Tiny Tim wasn't getting anything because he couldn't hobble two steps. Scrooge pulls some random boy off the street to buy the goose.
The thing with Karl is he's right with a lot of things but doesn't express it in the best way. When he says tiny Tim go and get a chicken. I think overall what he means is now, and this is just one example, meat is relatively cheap, so we can have a roast dinner whenever we want to, back in the day, let's just say 100 years ago as a point of reference, it was probably a lot more of a special occasion to have even something such as a roast chicken or a proper cut of meat. So perhaps families would save for a long time to be able to afford a good meal at Christmas. So it meant more to people. Now you can just pop down tesco and get a large chicken for about 4 quid.
What Karl says is so true. The best part of Christmas is the food - bigger dinner than usual. Everything else about it is nonsense - the build-up etc Christmas cards are dreadful - I no longer send them and I hate receiving them - they mean nothing !!! What Karl says is always true and it's the way he says it that makes him so funny. His deadpan grumpy expression - Genius !!!
Yeah, I'm with Karl on this. I hate the build-up, and the expectations. I like to lie in when I'm on vacation. I wish everyone would just shut up about "oh we have to do this and that, and visit these people" every day.
"I love easter, no you don't you like eggs you like chocolate you fat little..." I love it how you can hear the people in the background laughing. x'DD
i like the way gervais always laughs at everything. in my mind, most comedians are quite deadpan, but this one is enjoying his own stuff more than anyone else)
The retail industry has put the final nail into the coffin of Christmas in the last decade or so. Doing your Christmas shopping in late November used to be regarded as early. Now all the big stores have the Santa hats, tinsel, fake trees, lights and snow domes out in September when we're still having BBQs. A four month retail campaign for a two day festival has completely devalued the whole thing.
I start losing it when Ricky is about to lose it, and locks it up--trying not to laugh, too early, but it starts when he says she was wanderin' about...knockin' around with those three fellers. And Ricky's face (don't laugh, don't laugh, don't laugh) CLASSIC!
Haha, he's so right about it being a dead week between Christmas and New Year. It's the shittiest period of the year. You're still recovering from the hangover of Christmas and eating too much, got to go to work, and already you're looking forward to New Year's eve. And everyone's like that so nothing ever gets done.
See we've clearly got very different views on that. I love the period between Christmas and New Year because nothing ever gets done. It's a week of no work, eating leftovers and drinking without even knowing what day it is. And I fucking love it. New year's is a shower of shite though
I honestly don't think he's trying to be funny..especially in front of the camera. That's the beauty in how he expresses himself. I often share his views and feelings on things except that when I express them, people see it as my being cynical..lol. He's a very down to earth kind of guy with most getting the wrong impression but at his core, he's a very compassionate and empathetic person.
You've fallen for the trap I fell in years ago, where I thought Ricky was just a bully. Ricky is basically trying to get Karl to talk and to experience stuff. calling him an idiot is friendly banter, and head references add to said banter. I do that to mates, and mates do that to me.
I’d say Ricky was proud of him here and even let up on him. Let him have his say, and ultimately agreed. I feel like Ricky let’s us experience Karl to understand why they get on, but keeps giving us a look now and then in humor to push his narrative.
maisie taylor ah ok, why did he have his birthday at christmas ? he would have been better having it later in the year so he didnt get all his presents at once !
this cats mind & thought pattern needs to be explored. Karl is one of very few that I never know what he will twist next out of a normal situation or thought. GREAT!!! Thanks Ricky for this find, "Karl Pilkington."
Just been listening to the old xfm radio shows and the funny thing is that he retells these stories and Ricky & Steve sometimes act if they are new, like how The Office US uses The Office UK jokes. But still as awesome.
I find myself inexplicably watching videos of Karl far more often than is normal
that's because he is AWESOME
+zedooncadhz me too! I think its because we are all like him :)

I dont think he understands how much of a gem he really is
Perfectly said
Yeah I agree, he's a bright little fella but the fact he stopped going to school at like age 13 meant he had absolutely no critical thinking skills.
@@martymcfly5528 schools do not teach critical thinking. They teach to a set curriculum and teach to pass an exam, not think for yourself.
@@billhawkins192 eh depends on the subject and the teacher to be fair.
Listening to Karl is one insanely entertaining way to waste time. Watching Gervais react to everything Karl says is another.
I feel myself giggling away to it but losing brain cells in the process but cannot look away like a car crash 🤪
this man is probably my favourite human being
Mine as well.
One of my faves too
Mine too!
I love how Ricky always assumes a laughing face even before Karl even begins his sentances.
Zzz Scoff he knows what's coming haha.
He winds him up and sits back waiting for the nonsense to come out :)
Hes so funny as hes mental tuned
Hours long binge watching clips of Karl. Check!
Christofer Bajen I've been watching every video I can. They are hilarious
"Im gonna have this kid in a bit , sort summwhere out"
hahaha that just came into my thoughts randomly at work today... fucking karl is brilliant
Hahahaha, love the idea of Mary saying that in a Manc accent
"She came from Salford"
I'd like to think Mary was pro-active like that, but for the fact she was riding around in the middle of nowhere on a donkey.
I do actually agree with Karl on a lot of things. He says what a lot of people are thinking, but too afraid to say.
like rik mayall :) says it like it is
I completely agree!
Well done to so and so computers
When I'm feeling down I just watch Karl and all is well with the world again. Perfect cure for depression.
lol "imagine if I bothered writing *this* ?"
People need to stop insulting Ricky and actually thank him for bringing Karl to the lime light, without Ricky so generously giving his friend a job we would have no idea who he was!
Mary was 'knocking about' xDDDDD
That's how she got pregnant.
Come back to this every year. Happy Christmas 🎄 🤣
Tiny Tim, go get a chicken. We all know it's meant to be Turkey, but the fact that in his mind he changed it to chicken and then made the disabled kid go get it is genius!
Actually, it was a goose
And Tiny Tim couldnt even walk, never mind bring home something for Christmas dinner. It was a random street kid that Scrooge tossed his money to.
11 yrs on and this is still funny 😄

+Paul L I didn't say there was anything wrong with it! The way he said it was fucking hilarious 😂

What Karl says is actually quite profound, you just have to look for the meaning.
I think Karl is the only one that doesn't know how brilliant he is. Thankyou Manchester!!!

I love that Ricky introduced Karl to the world

luuke furtado What do you mean? The grammar of the question is correct. I'll give you a hint... the three things rhymed.
Amazing this was posted 11 years ago. Karl's thinking is timeless.
tiny tim go an' get a chicken😂. I'm dead

Great clip.

'Mary was pregnant, she was wondering about...' It was at this point Ricky knew he chose the right topic...

i just love both of them :D
Karl's made out to be an idiot but not getting involved in religion sounds pretty clever to me 😉
He's already more intelligent than the average religious person right there.
You bet! clever disguise that stupid shtick!
