I’m joining the suit tho. A very hurtful experience. I’m a single mom and worked hard to be able to get us a nice affordable and reliable means of transportation

The software update is supposed to block the ignition signals to the starter when the alarm goes off from that similar to how aftermarket alarms security systems work. But somehow people are getting around that update.
Having your car stolen from your own complex is gut wrenching!!! I bought my rio brand new, paid it off and kept it for 10 years. Walked outside Sunday to hop in my car and go to brunch to find only glass!! Im still in shock! I've been scrolling RUclips to find a piece of the internet to express this agony. Best BELIEVE, nothing...and I do mean nothing good is going to come to these demons of destruction!

My Elantra was broken into twice, but they couldn't steal it. The second time, I traded it in for a Nissan. My husband, on the other hand, still owes a lot on his car and can't trade it in yet has had his car stolen twice within 2 weeks and since he just got put on my insurance policy about a month before the trouble, the insurance company is now doing a claims investigation. I hate thieves.

Ford has been putting transponder ignition systems in nearly every vehicle since the turn of the century! Until all of this “Kia Boys” fiasco, I didn’t even think you could hotwire a modern car unless you’re playing Grand Theft Auto! Hyundai Kia is a garbage company making garbage cars.

That would help, but It’s becoming harder and harder to escape to areas that have a low black population regardless.

People give me shit for saying this all the time but I always tell people to get Viper alarms on their Hyundai’s and Kia’s affected by this because not only will it have sensors that sense the window being broken, but it also cuts the power to the starter so you can’t start the car until you unlock it with the key fob or use it’s back up method if the key fob stops working. Sometimes the software update doesn’t help, either there something wrong with it or somehow people are getting around it. And steering wheel locks are shit because you can still steer the car just fine. (Trust me I tried that out on my car) Viper and other brands like Compustar are very affective at keeping the car from being stolen this way.
