My biggest gripe with the early Fear seasons is that we should have gotten more from the couple days of the virus going global, we only had about 1 epsode with that, and then a quick timejump to when the military already had taken over and society had already ended. But, despite that I still thoroughly enjoyed the first couple seasons of Fear, and little did we know the dumpster fire that would take over in season 4.
I have been saying the same for a long time. We dont want to see random ass zombie western or humans vs humans as seen thr shows, we want to see collapse of the society

Tobias was a genius. He knew. Unfortunately, he stocked up on school lunchroom food, hunkered down in the city, and got fire bombed!! Excellent recap of the societal breakdown.
Could still be alive he should return if they ever show california they've hinted at california being in better shape now so hopefully the gangs and whatever groups of people and national guard there fought back the undead during the early days
Great episodes and one that really sticks out for me is the episode when all the zombies are locked in the football stadium and the doors keep rattling as they are being pushed... there was uninfected and infected all in the same place...by the time they were let out they were all infected...
I understand the fall happening quickly in major cities like Los Angeles and Atlanta. So many people die per day. They could've set it in a more rural area where it wouldn't have happened so fast. Like the pilot of the original taking place in Rick's hometown. Less walkers there. But then skipped to Atlanta where there were tons.
I enjoyed the unique locations and many of the characters established in the first 3 seasons. Nick was a character I didn’t initially think I could get behind, but his excellent character development and the job done by the actor made me quickly change my opinion. It takes a bit of mental gymnastics to find value in Travis’s untimely death, but for me it was a good reminder of the ever present danger in the world of TWD. He didn’t get a grand heroic death, he was just brutally killed for no good story reason, which feels more realistic for such an apocalypse. Just my two cents. Cheers.
Nick is single handedly carried by the actor. The writing wasn t particurlarly good. The mother and daughter were just poorly done especially later on. It s like the writers just gave up on them in season 2, not knowing what to do with them.
Yes sir. I miss this time in TWD. The first 5 seasons of TWD and the first 3 FTWD were on fire. The webisodes fit nicely along with the Red Machete, Awesome times.
Fear really fell off a cliff after replacing the showrunners ahead of season 4. During its initial run, these seasons were better than the main series' offerings at the time.
Def would have liked to see more of fall of society but s1-3 were pretty good exspecially s3! It's a shame the show wasn't better because they had a great cast. Even after we lost Travis, Nick etc we got Morgan, John Dory, and June plus a few more really great actors. Just a shame they didn't give them a better story after s3. Except for s6, i actually really liked that season with the end is the beginning group, Virginia and the pioneers, and the Morgan Jones is dead story line.
I too wish it had of went deeper into the fall society, but the truth of what it would really look like would scare people to death. I like your story Blood Path. I think you're on the money in a lot of ways. It would be brutal.
They should did anthology series of sections around the world falling. Do a 1-3 episodes depending on the story of things falling apart. They could have built up future characters that survived that could appeared in the main show.
fear shouldve been way longer in LA. Shouldnt have just been about the Madison family. It'd have been great to see multiple perspectives like EMS/PD figuring out that they are screwed etc. Another avenue that couldve been really cool would be service workers like Power and water trying to keep the grid running
I'm one of the weirdo fans of the TWD universe that in some ways likes FTWD just a little bit more than the OG show. Yeah after season 3 the show kinda got.....less enjoyable, but overall I still really liked the show even though it got kinda silly near the end. One thing that really pissed me off about the later seasons of the show was when they changed the theme music. I loved how it wasn't really music that they used as the shows theme. Travis' kid, Chris, was unbearable though. I wish they had killed him off in season 1 rather than killing his mom off.
I 99% usually just turn on the mic and ramble about the topic - I have trying my hand at actually writing a few scripts. Reading into the mic is different than just talking without written words. I thought if I did a few I would get better at it and I would not sound like that so much. Thanks for the input!
I wish Travis stayed honestly. Tbh I would say season 4 is upthere to. I thought it was pretty cool when Morgan entered the show. Tbh I wonder if there would be any need for Morgan to cross over if Travis hasn't died. Thats a video u should consider making since the shows over. What if Travis never died. I remember u did one for Shane not to long ago I think.
@@TWDExplained yea. He hated Troy. He would've probably died alot sooner then season 8. He would've died in season 3. But yea Travis not dying would've likely changed alot. I could be wrong but Travis staying could have ment Madison dying. Or Morgan never having that cross over. But really I think they've should have done it like this. He had another movie. Avatar. Madison left in season 4 and stayed gone for almost the rest of the SERIES. They should have done something similar for Travis. He still gets shot. But just in the neck. His stomach idk about. Idk if that was a shot or a bite. Eather way that never happens. Anyways he falls out of the chopper and the chopper is just low enough that he survives. Someone saves him he survives and Madison still returns in season 7. Theres a time jump. And Travis returns in season 8. Travis returning for the final episodes would be pretty dope.
i wanted to see more of the govt reaction to the collapse. in season 1 there’s still a military, who is the commander in chief? is there still a president? if so, how are they handling this? that sort of thing.
I really wish they slowed down on the story in the first season. They had plenty of time to do time jumps after words since it was only gonna be 6 episodes to begin with. It would have been nice to see what was happening in the dense city after the main characters drove away
I never watched twd or ftwd until they were over or almost over in the case of the walking dead I think season 11 was playing when I bought them all on DVD to watch straight through on my time. I really like twd and I'm on season 5 of fear and so far season 1 and 4 are the only ones I like again so far, I find it's hard for me to stay interested and to start watching again with fear. I'm hoping it gets better or more interesting.
So many moments in this show pissed me off. It should have been about the outbreak and the chaos of things falling apart. Not a whole bunch of family time scenes
Thanks for talking about the fear. I myself enjoyed this show when the walking dead was not on. Mostly more then the story line. It was the actors I fell in love with. Madison and her family. Daniel, Stran. Morgan, Grace many more... I loved the Fear ..
AS a huge fan of TWDU - I cannot say I like S4-8 much at all. Sure a character or two was cool (Ex John Dorie) but that does not overpower the terrible story/writing. I do love the actors and most characters - but 4-8 was a show runner problem. I would suggest, Jeremy, maybe just watch S8 finale - it is hard to get through - but it'll wrap up who lives and dies and where everyone ends up.

Dave Erickson should've stayed as a showrunner. The vibe in the S1-3 was amazing.
😢seriously, so sad what it turned into

It should have spent a full season the fall, that took weeks, but then the rate of the living dead exponentially increased as time passed...

True, but the collapse still should have taken many episodes, even in a big, packed city

Once FTWD started going the nuclear fall out route, it was just downhill from there
Fear was horrible! It started out good bit they ruined it.😢
