Why you can't understand native Japanese
• Why you can't understa...
1. Repeating what people are talking about when watching video on RUclips
2. Talking to yourself in Japanese
3. Thinking in Japanese
4. Shadowing
I already think or talk in Japanese by myself at times but now I realized how much shadowing can improve my Japanese even more because it sort of forces my mouth to get used to the language. I've decided to shadow at least one video everyday from now on! Thank you so much for this video Miku sensei!! I actually tried shadowing the whole video (I'm so happy that I can understand all of it; a couple of words I understood using context clues) and it was really fun!
To whoever's reading this, I hope you get all the motivation you need if you are truly passionate in learning any language!! If you're like me who suddenly wasn't able to actively study their target language, it's okay, but from now on take note of your short-term and long-term goals again and just do it!! NO MORE EXCUSES
Ohh, shady さん.. That was a lovely experience to share i guess😃.. Yeaa.. Shadowing really helps! I hope you continue doing so😊.
By the way, i also teach japanese at my channel. I may not be good as her but i try :) hope that helps a bit too.
And yes, pls feel free to lemme know if i can ever help you!EVER! 😊I'll be moreee than happy..がんばってね💖
I was thinking of giving up on my Japanese, but this video gave me courage to continue. Thanks a lot Miku Sensei.
Hey I live out here in Japan with little Japanese, have improve from five years of trying to speak to people wether it is correct of not, My Japanese is still not perfect and still make mistakes but never give up.
@@pathill1024 Thank you so much for your kind comment. I will do my best.
Isamar さん, oh no. Pls don't give up! I agree its hard but.. You can do this ! I am cheering for youuu😊..
By the way, i also teach japanese at my channel. I hope that helps a bit too.
And yes, pls feel free to lemme know if i can ever help you!EVER! 😊I'll be moreee than happy..がんばってね💖
諦めないでください🙏
Coming back to this comment after studying a lot for JLPT. I needed a little motivation!! Thanks Miku Sensei.
1:30 #1. Mimic (native speakers)
4:30 #2. Think in Japanese.
6:02 #3. Talk to yourself in Japanese.
8:58 #4. Do shadowing.
10:50 #5. Make a habit of using the word you learned.
I've been learning Japanese on and off for about 3 years and only really gotten serious about it for 4 years, so about 7 years total. I passed N5, but I'm nowhere near fluency. These videos and the Shadowing Audio series should help me get on track. Thanks, Miku-sensei!
中国語を勉強し始めた時に私も毎日何時間も中国語で独り言を言うということをしました。確かにだいぶ話すスピードを速くしました。私もこの方法をおすすめします。ありがとうございますMiku先生
this video needs more recognition is so useful. thanks a lot!!!!
The thing that has given my Japanese language skills a huge boost is playing video games in Japanese and reading/translating all the text for myself. It was time consuming and exhausting at first but now I play more games in Japanese than in English.
@@haixis I started with Tengai Makyou Ziria and have since worked my way through the sequels.
Ohh! Marco さん, that seems such a cool idea! I never thought throught that😃.. Ah thanks!
By the way, i also teach japanese at my channel. I may not be good as her but i try :) hope that helps a bit too.
And yes, pls feel free to lemme know if i can ever help you!EVER! 😊I'll be moreee than happy..がんばってね💖
I will practice shadowing starting with this video. Thank you so much Miku.
Thankyou so much for the wonderful guidance Miku sensei.

すごいですね!リスニングはできてるから、スピーキングも練習したら、できるようになるよ!!がっきをひくことと同じだと思います!!
thank you sensei for sharing. love you
I really love how you teach nihonggo so when I have a time your videos in RUclips is my favorite to watch because it's easy for me to understand I'm a filippino and I'm here at ibaraki and honestly as of now I'm struggling how to speak hinhonngo and kaiwa,,thanks to your tips and more videos because it helps me a lot and to those who want to speak fluently japanese 😍
Thanks so much. I love this format - speaking clearly with Japanese subtitles along with little hints every now and again are great for helping with inputting. These videos are great, ありがとう、Miku先生。
Philip さん, yea.. They can be a great listening practice!!! By the way, i also teach japanese at my channel. I may not be good as her but i try :) hope that helps a bit too.

@@opdhaka Thank you, subscribed!
いつも為になる動画ばかりですが、今回は特に感動しました!みく先生、ありがとうございます!
I have bought your shadowing cource and it is great. You have done a fantastic work. I have done 48 of 156 lessons, and look forward to the remaining ones. This video is also very useful.
These methods, especially shadowing, have been the missing links in my study! Thanks for the clear description of how and why, and the shadowing example. もちろん、最初はシャドウイングが難しい!頑張ります。ミク先生ありがとうございます!Subscribed :)
I've always been good with mimicking accents and pronounciations but i do have a hard time memorizing multiple words to add into my vocabulary. I guess i just need to use them more often to get them into my head. I remember missing one day of practicing japanese 2 years ago and since then i forgot to practice, but thanks to this video i feel like learning again. I managed to learn how to write hiragana and a bit of katakana and a couple of words into my vocabulary but i don't feel the motivation to learn kanji tbh. I want to learn conversational skills and talking because that's the most fun part of language learning hopefully i'll be able to learn enough japanese to be able to hold conversations :)
Sorry if the comment was all over the place but i hope it's comprehensible, thanks to whoever who reads through it.
I’ve been doing these things for some time and can attest that it really does work. The only think I have been struggling with is is “thinking in Japanese”. I think it certainly can be helpful but it’s like asking a dog to stop liking sausage…. It’s very challenging to think in a language that you only have tenuous command on…..
Don't worry about that mate, it comes naturally with a lot (and I mean a lottttt) of exposure to the language. Eventually you get to the point where something annoys you and you think「めんどくせー」instead of your native language's equivalent of it 😂
This is what I needed!! 本当にありがとうございます!
I can confirm that talking to yourself absolutely works, that's how I became fluent in English without ever interacting with English speakers irl.
This is such good advice! Thank you so much for it, I'll take it 😄
Miku Sensei- thank you for posting the tips :) you asked for tips we’ve used for learning… I studied Spanish in high school, and I have a lot of opportunities to use it at work, but when I’m feeling that my Spanish is rusty, I listen to Harry Potter audiobooks- I know them basically by heart in English, so listening in Spanish makes me remember the Spanish I’m forgetting :) thank you for the shadowing tip, it will help for all of my language learning
These are incredible helpful, tips thank you!! I found that thinking & saying things aloud to yourself in that language really helps
Raquel さん, yes indeed it does.. A lott!! Especially if you don't have people around to speak with.
By the way, i also teach japanese at my channel. I may not be good as her but i try :) hope that helps a bit too.
And yes, pls feel free to lemme know if i can ever help you!EVER! 😊I'll be moreee than happy..がんばってね💖
1. Mimic Native Speaker
2. Think in Japanese
3. Talk to yourself in Japanese
4. Shadow Native Speaker
Amazing tips, I especially love the one about thinking in Japanese. Makes a massive difference 😃
OMG THIS MAKES ME DIZZY BUT I UNDERSTAND 60% OF IT BECAUSE OF YOUR CHANNEL 🥺
I honestly thought the explanation was going to be in English. Then in the middle of the video i realised it was in Japanese all along! What a nice way to explain!
この具体的な話はすごくありがたいです!この練習法をすでに実践したミク先生から聞くと確かに効果が見えますね
ありがとうございます!!役に立ったら嬉しいです!❤️
ありがとうございました
このおすすめは私に必ず役に立つと思います
とても役に立った。本当にありがとうー!!:3
Thanks for the tips. I listen to songs for young children. This way I can easily remember words, such as the names of the days of the month, the names of the days of the week, the names of animals, etc.
That’s a good tip❤️Keep on going!!
you are the best teacher Miku! Your videos always keep me going and motivate me to keep studying!
Awww thank you! I’m so grateful for you!! Let’s keep going together!!!
One thing that helped me to learn english and that I'm also using to learn japanese is playing video games. In Japanese specially the ones with furigana and voice acting are great because I can search the kanji meaning in the dictionary and translate it using google translate and other software tools. Then the next time I see that word or phrase I can remember and doing it repeatedly helps a lot to memorise new stuff.
このビデオは本当に便利ですよ!
よく独立で日本語勉強するは少し難しいです。時々RUclipsで日本語のVLOGを見えます、例えば 「日本スーパーマーケットで買い物をしてる」。
よく色々言葉を知りませんですが、諦めません!いつか日本語をペラペラ話したい。頑張ります!ミク先生ありがとうございました。
pd. excuse me my bad grammar😕
Thank you for your motivational thoughts...!
It’s so cool how I’m able to understand so much of what you’re saying in Japanese alone. I do sometimes use the English subtitles for help, but I can still understand a lot of it in Japanese only.
Also, I think point #3 is really cool cuz I already do that.
That’s great! It shows that you’ve been doing a lot of work and input❤️
Mark さん, woahh.. Now thats amazing! Understanding everything she said in the video is indeed remarkable 😄.
By the way, i also teach japanese at my channel. I may not be good as her but i try :) hope that helps a bit too.

Thank you for your help teacher. I'm having this kind of problem, my listing skill is quite good, and my vocabulary as well.
Actually I'm having trouble to output my japanese, but your tips was so helpful. Thank you.
The best video for those who are beginners in learning Japanese, such good tips for learning Japanese or any other languages
ありがとうございます💜💜
Great tips Miku. Thank for your hard work making these videos for everyone .
I totally needed this..
Reading is okay but when it comes to conversations. I sometimes don't understand what the person is saying or if i do I don't know how to frame my sentence. I can frame easy sentences but it's difficult to frame long sentences or sentences with high vocabulary.
This video is really helpful. It made me motivated and gave me tips i just needed. 本当ありがとうございます先生。
Useful tips,Miku先生、本当にありがとうございました

@@opdhaka presently I am learning from university ,Sensei.
I've tried to follow you by reading the japanese text without subtitles. Well, it was hard because I understood little bit ( 20% or minus). But it was interesting.
Thank you so much Sensei. You gave me a lot of motivation to pick my left japanese and now I am feeling that I can actually achieve the fluent level.

Thank you so much, Miku sensei 😊
I think it is also important to celebrate every small win. Right now, I watched and listened to this video without the caption and I have been able to understand almost everything (credit to your excellent usage of kantanna kotoba and moderation on speed in talking 😊)

Excellent Miku Sensei. thank you very much.. very clear and understandable..
i already been doing most of these points the past 5 years でもやっぱり私日本いるときに最も学びますね
Thank you so Much 🙏🌸
You are doing good job, your videos are quite helpful to learn japanese language, keep it up. Love from Nepal🇳🇵
i tried doing the shadowing method on this video and i was so surprised at how fast i can read now😭it took up a lot of energy to keep up with saying it all out loud but at least thats how i know its working
I am so happy that I found your Chanel!
Could you recommend for us some of tv shows / drama/ movies which include ,,daily conversation “ which we can follow (beside of Terrace House)?
I’m so happy you found me too! Hehe!
Let me do some research and share it in a video!!!

Patiently waiting for this ... :)
ありがとうございます😊
I tried shadowing while watching this. Couldn’t quite keep up, but was great practice! Maybe I’ll start speaking Miku-fu no nihongo…
I guess it's ok to use anime to mimic and shadow but it has to be the right one. Bullying master Takagi, Girls last tour, Nichijou, Tokyo magnitude 0.8, etc... are rly good :3 have fun!
よく教えてもらって、ありがとう!
斎藤さんアップリで使いました. My problem is: when I tried to asking question to the native I can't understand what did they say. But, I'll try the tips on this video. みく先生ありがとうございます~
ありがとうございました😊
ミクさんすごい!てっきり外国生活長いのかと思っていました。一、日本語教師としてとても勉強になりました。
I think studying this podcast using these techniques itself is going to make me much better 😀
to be honest you're the one I mimic 😍🙃
Just keep in mind she speaks slower and clearer than most japanese
Hehe thank you so much 😊 😆
いつもありがとうございます、ミク先生。
I have my RUclips app in Japanese so the subtitles are in Japanese. Using the subtitles helped me with some kanji I didn’t know before tho ☝️ But to my surprise , I understood about 70-80% of this video. I’ll definitely implement this advice.

私は日本に住んでいますが、話に聞くのがまだ大変です。タイプはできるが、話す時めっちゃ語彙が出てこないわよ😢😢
ありがとう😊
My problem, exactly 😊
I think what might be a real problem for this method is the "shadowing" because even if you know quite a bit of japanese it's difficult read it quickly from a subititle or close caption, that's a big problem to come around for a learner.
But all the suggestion here are valuable, I see.
I used to think inside my head with different language. I used shadowing with loverly songs or quotes from favorite actor or even from games 笑。
I was always looking for recommended drame, I will try Terrance house for sure. Thank you,
Miku another really cool video! Could you make a video on your favorite RUclipsrs speaking in kansai ben? I’m not sure if you’re aware but there’s quite a few people interested and learning kansai ben, so if you started a podcast or a RUclips series fully in Kansai ben you would make a lot of people happy 😌
Hey I got your shadowing course. Just want to say thank you it helps alot. Especially since I can pay monthly its a big deal. More channels need to step up and stop charging 500$ for a course that people cant afford.
Oh wow.. It definately must be very helpful! By the way, i also teach japanese at my channel. I may not be good as her but i try :) hope that helps a bit too.

@@opdhaka Hi. I like your channel. I subscribed, I like your conversations in 日本語 if you could upload more like that it would be great. Thanks!

How am I supposed to do shadowing on anything else aside from anime? Of course I won’t because I trust your recommendation, but I have no idea what else I could possibly use. I’m not too into dramas or podcasts, which is what everyone seems to be recommending me.
Japanese RUclips videos. Look up videos you're interested in on the site and watch!
or watch vtuber
Why don't you start right here? Miku has transcribed her speech really well and you can also also slow it down here on YT.
Im pretty new to the channel but newer videos seems to have same vibe with onomappu. Not complaining tho, its much better and easier to understand.

I’m a freshman in college and in my second Japanese class, it’s really hard for me to understand long term Japanese and not just phrases. I want to mimic and use more words and phrases in order to understand and remember them but I know very little, I’m not even N5 after almost a year of classes. Do you have any suggestions for learning kanji? That’s a big problem for me. Thank you for giving me the motivation and confidence to go to my Japanese written midterm exam today I have been really stressed for it, but I’ll still go and give it my best! Hopefully by next month my conversational Japanese is a bit better and my reading and writing is much better!
Love the way you explain your thought process of each and every tip. Shadowing is such an important tip that we forget as we grow older! Your videos have made studying Japanese so much more enjoyable for me! Gonna “shadow” your videos as much as I can! Can’t wait to speak Japanese fluently in the near future! Waza waza arigatou gozaimashita (your new video reels on Instagram are fabulous!!!!!!) Looking forward to all your upcoming videos! 🙇🏻🙆🏻♀️😃👏🤗🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
I have N1 and my speaking still sucks 😞 I will try some of these things!
First step of learning journey really difficult for me but now I won't give up bcoz I wonder to make this languages as my familiar language later🤍🇯🇵
