  • More and more people in Japan have negative views on religion in general, because of what happened recently. And sadly, Christian kids/teens are most likely to be the targets.
I'm neither Christian nor LGBTQ+ person. So my apology in advance if any part of my explanations in this video was inaccurate or insensitive to you and made you offended.

I became a missionary in Osaka Japan for 7 years in Takatsuki and Tondabayshi. It was extremely hard for Japanese youth who were Christians to be open and tell those around them that they are Christians. They keep their personal Christian beliefs to themselves among their friends and people around them. Many times if they happened to come from a non Christian home and they decided getting Baptised in church their family would turn against them and some times be extremely disappointed in their decision. Prejudice against Japanese Christians is not out in the open but behind closed doors especially among non Christian homes prejudice is still very real for those who go to a church looking for a change in their lives . But generally speaking Japanese are not open to becoming different and standing out in their communities and society in general. But that is what it's all about when Christ comes into some one's life, they tend to stand out from other average Japanese with their faith. So when a Japanese person comes fully to Jesus Christ they know the consequences of standing out and been different among their family members, friends and in their local community. But I have found Japanese Christians to be among some the most committed Christians to Christ I have ever met any where. There is no compromising with their faith and no turning back, God changes their lives 100% Japanese Christians are faithfully praying that Japan will some day come to Christ. As a Christian I believe nothing is impossible with God, I just feel certain nations like Japan and the Japanese are not ready to just change like that and give up every thing in their lives as a culture to become Christians. I come from Zambia and I have seen many peoples lives change and come to the Lord because of the daily struggles and hardships they have to go through everyday. When I first arrived in Japan, many Japanese asked me why should they accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour and become Christians when they have every thing they need spiritually and many of their own gods in Japan if they need help to call on. Jesus Christ and the Christian values seemed nice to them but at the same time just too foreign for their culture and beliefs. Japan is one of the hardest places in the world to reach for Christ. After 7 years of working in Japan as a missionary and working with the local Japanese churches I was totally worn out in the end. I went back to my home in Zambia. I continue my work of teaching and working with the underprivileged youth and orphans in my community along with Godly principles and values for their spiritual lives. I have seen many of our youth come to God. Many of them set free from drugs and alcohol abuse to become strong Christian leaders in their own communities. I still believe in God's miracles and I have seen the Lord Jesus change people's lives, many coming from the darkest pits of desperation into the Light of our Lord Jesus Christ. But usually they make the first step by wanting and asking God into their lives and the Lord takes care of the rest. These are my personal thoughts of Japan and Christianity there.Read the Gospel of John Chapter 3 verse 16.

God bless you, I know that must have been hard work. I lived in Japan for a few years and the Christians I met were inspiring and humbling and I think about them fondly to this day. You're spot on about their dedication and what they give up especially with the abandonment by family. I've thought a lot about what I would say if I evangelized there and as I considered the answers you were given about why Jesus is different than the gods they already have, my immediate answer was "Jesus conquered sin and death, and those two enemies no other god can defeat and every man must face or have an advocate face for them". I've heard about the rejection of Jesus due to fear of disappointing dead ancestors that might be in hell and wanting to join them, and my only response to that would have been "anyone in hell who would want you to join them does not care about you." Lots to consider but man, it's a heavy weight. Thank you for sharing your testimony.

You know, the problem with that is Christians just use that to brush off the concerns of others about how Christianity treats *them,* *especially* in countries where they're the ones with undue power. Some sects even send their kids around door to door to piss people off precisely to reinforce the notion that it's a hostile world outside their cult and keep them from *really* meeting people. Or, you know, facts.
Certainly in the US, where Christians run government in too many places, they'll whine they're being 'persecuted for their faith' if they can't silence and bully everyone *else.* Especially LGBT people. They are pushing really hard to make us all unmentionable and untouchable and call it their 'freedom of religion.' (The real principle of freedom means your right to swing your religious fist ends at the nearest person's nose.) So the victimhood thing is unconvincing when you guys are the ones that got a problem with everyone else.

You tell people that science is wrong and a 6 day mythological creation is right. You tell people they are going to hell if they don't believe in irrational miracle claims from 2,000 years ago in the middle east. You tell people that they shouldn't be gay or drink alcohol or enjoy sex before marriage. You are against equality for women and women's rights. You push all these absurdities on society and then you cry and play the victim when people reject you. Well you are not the victim you are the abuser, a delusion that tries to control and manipulate people, and people correctly, are not being fooled by you.

You also seem to think being Christian is like some exclusive club, but that can't be more wrong as anyone is able to become a Christian, bar absolutely nobody.
Yes, to do so you have to willingly turn away your current sinful ways, repent basically (which literally means 'to change one's mind'), and turn to Christ and accept him into your life voluntarily. However, no one is exempt from having the chance to do this, none. No one is beyond Salvation until they've drawn their last breath, not even the wickedest of criminals.
Also, by jabbing or 'critiquing' as you just did, you're only further proving Christ right that the world (which you are part of) will persecute anyone who believes in Him (and yes, you can persecute with words just as much as you can physically attack someone. Words have a power as well). Because in your blind hatred of Him, you only begin to criticize harder, further proving Him right even more in turn.
The solution? Set your clear hatred aside and dedicate time to read and study the word of God and commune with actual Christians for some time.
And before you may go 'I don't hate...' and start your cycle of 'Critique'/Proving Christ Right all over again, bear in mind that if you were Indifferent (as many who make similar arguments falsely claim) you wouldn't care one way or another and wouldn't waste your time commenting as you do.

@@Xunkun I would like to address your concerns and misunderstandings in a calm and civil discussion. First and foremost, Christianity doesn't promote cannibalism, but uses metaphors or parables to describe the consumption/joining into a union within one's faith. Secondly, Yahuah (God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob) gave His son (Jesus Christ) who is His physical representation here on earth as a perfect sacrifice to save mankind from sin. God came in the flesh to take the punishment that we deserved. There is no greater love than to die for others.
According to the Old Testament, the wages of sin is death. In order to liberate mankind from sin, a sacrifice is needed. You're probably thinking to yourself, "why can't God just forgive them." And my response would be the following: A perfect God must execute His perfect justice. If He states that your sins leads to death, then something must take its place. If He ignores this protocol, then He wouldn't be executing His perfect justice, thus making Him imperfect. Jesus Christ knew this had to happen (foreshadowed throughout the four gospels) to free mankind from spiritual death. He willfully gave His life on the cross to fulfill this prophecy. The last commandment Christ gave to His disciples was to be willing to die for your friends.
I understand there are people who distort the scriptures for their own benefit. With that being said, we shouldn't be so quick to generalize, especially when there's a lack of understanding the core teachings of the scriptures.

You can see how this can quickly lead to significantly less births of the native population, which is already a problem for the Japanese, and it will likely mean the eventual death of the society and/or replacement by those who are having lots of children, like Arab Muslims or Africans. From what I gather mainstream religion in Japan is tied in with the culture, so people will engage with it at the level of ceremonies, births, marriages, and funerals without seeing it as "religion". To use a western example, I was brought up as a Roman Catholic so that was normal and associated with school and community life, but growing up tended to see the Evangelical Churches that knocked on peoples' doors, and especially groups like the Jehovah's Witnesses, as weird and scary "cults".

(Certainly I experienced a lot of bullying and violence and institutional abuse at the *hands* of Christians here and they do designate targets and then whine they're the 'persecuted ones' if anyone says 'ow' too loudly. And it's the Christians in politics here rolling back anti-bullying initiatives as 'woke' and forcibly re-instituting ignorance and defamation of others cause they whine that to do otherwise is some 'Anti-Christian 'woke' indoctrination.' While they ban and burn books and try to criminalize people for being minorities they hate.)
THe bully mentality will take any cue or excuse, but if they think society or a church approves of the action, all rules are off. That's why I had to learn to fight at a very young age, and not expect any help or quarter, *especially* from Christians.

Many people don't know this, but this is why Yamagami's mother lost her life savings. The Korean leaders often preach open hatred for Japan for what it did during World War 2, and the need for Japanese church members to donate large sums of money in order to pay indemnity for what their ancestors did in World War 2. The idea that both Koreans and Japanese people are sinners and equally need Jesus is completely foreign to this church. It's literally the opposite of what Jesus taught.
I don't think I heard the word "forgiveness" once in the sermons from this church. It's sad that Japanese people sometimes don't realize that not all groups that call themselves Christian are the same.

Looking at the High School Girl's story, I begin to wonder if some Japanese people are really ignorant on stereotyping and prejudice? I am not a Christian and I am not defending the Unification church, but I have taken modules in school that teaches us how to spot such things and counteract them. Perhaps Japan needs such education for religious and racial harmony. Furthermore, it would be helpful to gain the ability to spot warped religious teachings like 'Charismatic churches', 'Cults', or the 'Prosperity Gospel' in the United States, that are clearly inconsistent with the core tenets and principles of Christianity. Such inability to evaluate religious teachings as well as their stereotyping and prejudice seems to be a recurring issue in Japan.

You are right. They should not judge a group of people based on a person who may or may not be acting according to the core doctrine of the scriptures.
      1 Timothy 5:8
But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
      テモテへの手紙Ⅰ 5:8
      自分の親族、ことに家族を顧みないような人は、クリスチャンと呼ぶわけにはいきません。神を知らない人よりも悪いのです。
      Matthew 22:35-40 states:
Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
      Matthew 5:43-48 Jesus states:
Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins. (Proverbs 10:12)
Titus 3:5 “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;”
      1 Corinthians 15:1-4 states:
Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
      Ephesians 3:1-2
“For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles,If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward:”
      Romans 10:9 states
"if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. (Ephesians 1:12-14)
      1 Corinthians 15:56-57
The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
      Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

We'll all have to say is Japan wants to solve their declining population without immigration would probably have to adopt a religion preferably Roman Catholic or Orthodoxy or both. People that are little bit religious just a little bit tense to have kids, and people are very really just have a lot of kids.
In the rate they're going half their population is going to disappear in about 10 or 15 years! 50% dead! 🤯
So since it's not a good idea to import large migration and I agree it's not, they should probably adopt a religion.

    1. A lot of uncritical, bad thinking by people who do not want to understand others, want to default to slanderous and unjust labels, and themselves are haunted by spirits of internalized shame.
    2. It is a sign of profound moral decadence (=disconnect from reality) when people consider it a moral issue what a person feels or believes. Ethics tells us when violence is justified, and the moral sanity of anyone who thinks that something as immaterial as a person's belief could be grounds for justifying violence (including the creating a law on it) is suspect.
    3. People are too deluded to even be wrong, we do not have to feel ashamed or justly accused by practically anyone.

I taught English in a few rural elementary schools in Japan about 4 years ago. When presenting myself and my country, the fellow teacher would usually ask what religion is practiced in my country. I assume that's because the kids were being taught a simplified view of the world, and I myself remember being taught something like that when I was a child - every country has an "official" religion. Leaving that bit aside, when I said my country is Christian, in two separate occasions I heard kids murmuring about how they've heard that Christians are "やばい". Even as an agnostic, it really surprised me to see reactions like that, as I had never heard of Christians having a bad fame in East Asia before.
