Watched the performance on my tv and started crying, watched it every once in a while until now and still crying. Not only because John is not here anymore to encourage us to love one another, but because the dream of the world he describes is everytime harder and harder to get. If someone is reading this, I appreciate you for being a dreamer and believe on this incredible man.
Anna r, wow what a great comment. It's amazing how one man could change a world through music, not just this song but also All You Need Is Love. It's been tough in recent times about the world we live in and it's hard not to get emotional through this performance. It was great they did this at the Closing ceremony. His music will live on forever.
anna r I bet that had John Lennon been still with us,the organisers would have asked him to sing live. I note the inclusion of Paul McCartney at the end of the openinng ceremony which hints at this.
The way John Lennon’s face comes in from a dark screen as people cheer when they recognize him….the choir and all those workers putting John’s face back together…. Truly the greatest thing i’ve seen in a while.
Some people only come once in a lifetime. John Lennon, Michael Jackson, Freddie Mercury and so many others who contributed to music, film, art, literature and other areas, they'll never come again. Some of us are lucky enough to appreciate having lived in a time where these great people walked the Earth because they are irreplaceable. I mean, there might come a great songwriter in the future, but there can only be one John Lennon.
It's just unfortunate that there's nobody really nowadays in the music industry that is up there with the likes of Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, John Lennon, Kurt Cobain and Freddie Mercury, among others.
We were robbed of a true genius when John was cruelly taken from us. I watched this live and like back then i tear up when his face appears whenever i watch this. Imagine has to be the most iconic song of the modern day world. RIP John, you deserved a far better fate.
No matter how many years pass since John's death, the impact of losing such a brilliant mind and beautiful soul still stings as much now as it did then. I wish I could've had even five minutes to sit with John and talk. Hearing John's singing mixed in with modern covers always brings goosebumps to my skin because, although I know it's a simple dubbing of his recording over the singers, it's almost as if he's brought back to us for that tiny period of time. I don't like the Olymics, but I love John's work (just as I love Paul McCartney's, George Harrison's, and Ringo Starr's work). This really touched me, and I had to leave a short commemorative word for John.
He was hippy during those years, hypocritical and abusive human being. Even describing his child so horribly, he even mock Jesus. I'm not saying I don't like him, I like his songs.
