@Kim Martin I grew up in the north. Until mid-year of third grade, we lived in the city. I remember having black friends, little girls who liked to braid my hair. And going on field trips to houses that were part of the Underground Railroad. Then we moved out to the county where there were essentially all white people, all the way through high school. I loved to read and books were my escape. When I got my first job, it was as a cashier at a convenience store right near the interstate. It was actually where I learned that I really liked people. ALL people. But one day a man came in and tried to do a "quick change" on me and actually got away with about $10 before I realized what was going on. And for almost a year, I unconsciously held what that one man did against everyone like him. Until one day when I was in college and someone made a racist comment and it made me so mad. But it also opened my eyes to how I had been holding what one person did against an entire group of people. That was so eye-opening for me. Because I realized that all people are individuals. And regardless of stereotypes or even experiences, every single person is an individual with individual beliefs and actions. So I do my best to approach life from a positive perspective, to treat people with respect (even though some of them make it very difficult), and to see the best in people. And above all, I try my hardest to follow Jesus' command to love everyone...again even though they make it hard. I've lived in the South for almost 30 years now. And I can honestly say, the south is where I have gained the most diverse group of friends (and friends I consider family). I'm sorry this is so long. God bless you and your beautiful soul. ❤️

Wow this is beautiful, sweet, & sad! Its funny its 12:32 am I was up listening to my daughter the baby of six children stressing trying so hard to finish University an fine internship only to hear nothings available, only to see this gives me hope - thxs to the forever 1st lady of USA!
Every generation has somebody that defines the hope you have in your heart. From Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglas, Medgar Evers, Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks, Malcolm X.. We got Michele. Thank You ancestors. She is WONDERFUL!!!

Nuggets of gold and pearls of wisdom. Mrs. Obama is coming to ATL and it my goal to see her in person, and surprise my mom and bring her too! I'm so happy to have lived to see President and Mrs. Obama as my President and First Lady in my lifetime!
