Erica I can’t begin to tell you how much I enjoy your videos!!!! Especially the ones where you make items that are soooooo useful!!! You have such a wonderful style of making things so simplified and JUST RIGHT!!! I want to thank you so much for all you do for all of us! You are just THE BEST teacher!!
Erica, You have been my sewing instructor from the beginning of my sewing journey. I can't explain how much I depend on your tutorials to learn the correct way of doing things. I love the "beginner friendly" tutorials but this is my next project. Thank you for making these concise to the point videos. Desi
Love, love, love...definitely making! Will be my first “rounded corners” experience...saying a prayer 🙏🏻 Also, will likely sew inside pocket on the lining fabric before ironing on the foam as well as sew on a top binding to the pocket...shoot, might even get crazy and sew in TWO pockets inside the bag! Thanks for another fantabulous tutorial! 💗
GREAT TUTORIAL!!! I’ve made several bags with this fusible foam and several with binding. Couple of tips for those of us who are older and have hand trouble. Quilting gloves help you to hold on to all the layers, a stylus also helps when seeing layers together and especially when binding! This is such a cute bag!!! Can’t wait to try it! Erica’s bags always turn out so great! My grandkids loved their drawstring bags!
Also, a walking foot it’s helpful. If you want the bottom of the bag to be sturdier, home improvement stores will cut plexiglass to whatever dimensions you need. I cover mine with a matching fabric (pillow case style) and push it down into the bottom of the bag.
I love your channel! You are an inspiration ! Be encouraged! I am also a born again believer and have homeschooled our eight children who are all grown now. I have been sewing and quilting for about 45 years. You are doing a great job, Erica. God bless you🙏❤️
Love, Love this bag. I made it this week-end. I have never done binding or quilting, so was challenging for me. I got brave and added a mesh bag on each inside side panel and I also got very brave and added a zipper closure, which is something I have never done. I plan to also make your other bag that is similar in size as this tote. Have been and will be using the fabrics that I have on hand. Thank you so much for sharing your talent.
Wooo. !!!! Its out of the world. Choice of prints is too good. Perfection is at its top. The tip for binding is superb.. In totality it's a wonderful tutorial. Cant wait to make one .
When you hit the like button before you watch it because you know this is going to be great! I love your sewing tutorials! I am currently making your backpack.
Awesome bag Erica. A lot of time went into making this and I appreciate all you do! Looking forward to the zipper version. Thanks for making things easy and understandable. Love it.
Erica, you know I am in New Zealand and always, always love your video tutorial and here you are, another excellent one! Love the choice of fabric with the gingham which is my absolute favorite. Thank you for the video and just by looking at the colors on the fabrics already makes my day full of 😃 🙂 😃 🙂 smiiiiles. Keep it up Erica and God bless. Thelma.
Just finished my bag. I used fusible fleece. Doesnt stand up as good as the foam im sure. May order the foam for the next one. I needed to get it finished for a trip. Thank u so much!
I made my first large tote with your tutorial and I have to say it is a lot of work. I am very happy with it but I don’t think I will use cork again it was rather thick, however I like the look. I will try another one with just material but it is hard to find material to mix and match. Thank you and I’m going to try ur train tutorial next.
Spent the last couple of days working on making this bag for myself for an upcoming trip. Easy instructions but definitely need a machine with a bigger throat! The Bosal is a force to be reckoned with. Thank you!
Super cute bag, Erica! As often those gingham checks are not printed accurately on the straight-of-grain and end up looking crooked (even though you cut the strips straight), I would use a solid as the bias binding. But I love ❤️ everything else about your bag!!
Great bag! I do like the rounded edges, but wondering if you could leave them squared? Look forward to the next tutorial. You explain things each step so well. Thanks for sharing this.
Thank you, so happy that i have done your previous bags, i feel confident that i can make this bag...also looking forward to the new zippered one....greatly appreciated....
I was looking for a bag like this when I saw you making this. I think you have a have a very excellent way of making everything look so easy. Wonderful weekender bag to take any where. Was thinking how to put in recessed zipper to keep everything inside when I heard you say you were going of show to put in zipper. Can't wail to start one for a trip I have coming up with a friend for a week of sewing.
Thank you for this amazing instruction. I just finished making this bag. It turned out beautiful! I was definitely challenged on the binding but end result was amazing.
Your bag is beautiful. I need a bag pattern similar to that to carry my embroidery unit to my embroidery sewing machine. It would be nice to have large inside pockets to hold quilt frames. I'm going to look for your pattern and see if I can personalize it some. I have experience sewing and love a challenge. That bag is very nice. Even if i would use it for something else, I want to make one like it.
Well that’s too stinking cute! I love the quilt block you added to the side. I can’t wait to see the zipper bag. I can hide my undies with the zipper. Lol. God bless. 👏🏻💕👏🏻
Hi Erica, I was wondering, if I made a bag like this and it was going to get a lot of use and wear and tear would you suggest using a thicker more durable fabric? This bag in on my to do list. Beautiful!!!
Hi, The foam really helps the bag keep its structure. If you're going to be using it a lot you could do a cotton canvas for the bottom piece if you wanted. But I think it will hold up okay.
What about an option using the iron on plastic for the bottom or for the inside to use for picnics or groceries?? PS I'd add another pocket on the inside that and pleat it for holding a wallet or some other larger item (sewing supplies for a quilt class!)
Love the bag, more pockets. Lol. To avoid seeing pocket seams on the outside. The pocket could be sewn in before the straps are sewn down. The sewn-down straps can cover the outside pocket stitches.
Yes, you could do that as well, but I wanted to give my straps a little more security and you can't see it if you use coordinating thread. But you could totally sew it in first :)
Thank you so much for sharing this video, you were so easy to follow, loved making this tote. Hoping I can make the zipper weekend bag soon...it may be out of my league:)
I need to make a tote bag about 10”tall and wide. I need the bottom to be a large flat bottom. Can you tell me how big of a square to cut on each side of the bag to get a nice large flat bottom? Thanks so much.
You are a very good teacher. I’ve watched several times so I can modify your instructions for my bag. Thanks so much.

Oh yes, quilting gloves would be a great idea!
I was LITERALLY in the process of modifying another pattern to make a weekender ... THANK YOU for this - it will save me so much time!

Thank you for doing this tutorial. I have always wondered how the binding was sewn on on these types of bags.
I love those colors. Thank you, it is very beautiful.

Hi, yes I have that on my list coming soon!
@@erica_arndt I made two of these bags this weekend for gifts - I love them. Thank you for the great pattern and tutorial.
Great bag! I do like the rounded edges, but wondering if you could leave them squared? Look forward to the next tutorial. You explain things each step so well. Thanks for sharing this.
Hi Pam, yes, you could leave them square, they're a bit harder to sew around, but totally do-able!
OMGosh! LOVE THIS bag!! Can’t wait to start one for myself!! You are a good instructor. Easy to follow directions!
This would be a fabulous tote bag to take to quilting classes and retreats

I'm in love with this tote thank you so much...😍😍😍😍😍😍
Thank you so much for sharing this video, you were so easy to follow, loved making this tote. Hoping I can make the zipper weekend bag soon...it may be out of my league:)
You can do it!! :) The zipper tote isn't any harder than this one, so if you made this one you can definitely do the zipper one!
Other than the fusible aspect, why would I want to use a tricot covered foam vs a naked flexible foam? Is the tricot more firm?
I love this bag! Thank you for the tutorial!
I need to make a tote bag about 10”tall and wide. I need the bottom to be a large flat bottom. Can you tell me how big of a square to cut on each side of the bag to get a nice large flat bottom? Thanks so much.
Thank you so much for this tutorial. Love it. I might just go make one right NOW.
Gracias Erica x compartir este proyecto, está hermoso🤩🤩🤩👏👏💖🇦🇷
