Thank you for not putting music and flashing lights in your video. I subscribed immediately upon knowing this.
Yes! Thank goodness!
Thank you for easy way making beautiful bags
Yes, thank you! No music!😊
But there IS music 😅
Yes there is music! It’s the same annoying tune constantly and I can’t turn it off, then I couldn’t hear her. The bags are beautiful though, but why they feel that have to have the music is beyond me. Thank you for the beautiful bags.
U r a very good teacher Iam so lucky to get your video….
Your videos are an inspiration to me. I’ve been away from sewing and recently lost my husband of 54 years. I believe sewing is great therapy and I’m looking forward to trying my hand on your inspirational totes.
@Jeanette Lucero my condolences on the loss of your husband. May he rest in eternal 🙏🌹
Deepest condolences on the loss of your husband.
Jeanette, I’m so sorry for your loss. My friend has gone through something similar. She and her husband were married the same 54 years as you and years. It’s wonderful that you’ve got your sewing to look forward to, that will help so much.
I'm sorry for your loss.
Found your site tonight! Thank you ! Calm voice with no music in background! Yippie!

Your detailed video was terrific! I am.going to use your tips on my next bag. Thanks!
Really wonderful video, Pat. I started sewing when I was 9 years old. Over time, with the help of 4-H instructors and home ec teachers, my sister and I grew our sewing knowledge enough to make her wedding dress.
This video was better than the sewing shows on PBS !!
You are a natural born teacher !! Your video was flawless. I enjoy how you explained WHY you are doing what you are doing as well as the freedom to alter the tote bag as we wish. The end result is a professional looking tote.
I can't wait to make one. You made my day !!!
Thank you
Keep up the great work !!
Your videos are such an inspiration. You make it look so easy and your tips are amazing!

Hi Jan, You are welcome! Happy sewing!
Great tips, creative, LOVE THIS!
Oh my gosh I have used that double sided tape for making hair bows but I never thought of using it for sewing. Thank you I just learned something new.

Beautifully done!! Thank you
These bags are so pretty!
Thank you Pat. You give a lot of tips that make for a much neater finish.
What a well produced tutorial. The visuals were really clear and there was plenty of time to jot notes down without having to stop and go back. Pat explained everything so well and I really appreciated the adaptations at the end. Thank you so much. I feel inspired to do one of these bags myself.
You are sew welcome!
Excellent tutorial!
NOTE ON SEWING THE VINYL: WHAT HELPED ME WITH SEWING ON THE VINYL IS USING A CLEAR ROLLING PRESSER FOOT. IT MADE THE SEWING A LOT SMOOTHER, ESPECIALLY WHEN TOP STITCHING.
Awesome. A beginner Class for an absolute Pro looking Bag!! If this does not Motivate to learn&sew more, Idk what
It looks easy to make.
Thanks for sharing!
Enjoyed your video. You did a great job!
Love this you were a wonder teacher
Exelente tutorial, recién descubrí su canal ,me suscribí para poder tener sus trabajos ,me encantaron los bolsos que hace una belleza 👍gracias por compartir sus conocimientos y experiencias 🤗
GREAT IDEA ANOUT THE DOBLE TAPE. I SHALL LOOK IN THE SHOP'S IN THE UK. Many thanks.
Great video. I enjoy making totes.
I make my totes with a french seam, no serger, no zig zag and no raw edges. I add 1/2 inch to the width. Like your ideas of using the vinyl for decorations. going to do that Thanks for a great video
Loved your video!!!
I enjoyed your explanations and especially the creative tips. I would prefer to have no music in the background ! Your voice is more pleasing to my senses. Thank you.
Love this video!
MANY THANKS FOR THE AND SO MNY IDEAS. ❤❤
I made a similar bag today just like yours although I did not put vinyl on the bottom. Your tips and tricks are by far the most excellent I have seen. I love how you match up everything and the double side sticky tape….I need to get some of that asap! I would like to know if you have a written down instruction for this pattern and how you put it together? Thank you so very much for this video.
Great tutorial!
LOVE LOVE LOVE
Details is from you is really nice one can understand rely well
Thank you!
Great video and bag. Crazy-expensive sewing and embroidery machines like the Lumiere are not needed.
Any good Heavy Duty mechanical machines like the popular-priced Singer 4452 or the superb Bernina 1030 will do a great job. Especially for people with good free-motion quilting and embroidery skills.
Hi Paula! We have all kinds of machines to choose from. Are you in our area? Give us a call and ask to speak to the machine Department, we would be happy to help you find the right machine! Our phone # is (407) 831-6488
Thank you much for your nice tutorial ma'am...watching you here from mindanao cotabato Philippines..mabuhay....
Hi Inday! You are welcome! Happy Sewing!
Thank you, very very thank❤
Your side seams, you don’t do a French seam? You are actually just join them with the bag inside out???? I did not catch that too well. Love your bag and all the help, thank you so very much!
Such a wonderful and clear video, thank you. Can I ask where did you purchase the blue mat under your pressing board when you iron?? Does it protect your measuring mat from harm?
beutiful tote bag
Hi Pat! U just popped up in my feed! Wow! Wish I had this months ago. Can I use a Bernina 830 to make these bags?
Love your tutorial!! I’m making bags for teachers and your method will work wonderfully!! Thank you!!
I'm working on mine today.
Is there a link for the quilt on the wall behind? I love this quilt. I am going to make this bag but bigger on the bottom to carry a casserole dish.
Thank you so much for sharing this video, step by step. I wanted to ask you if you can show us how to bind the inside seam. I already went to your website and love the fabric and other items I want to order. I want to make few bags for my two daughters and myself to take to the supermarket and other places.
Thank you so much.
Good idea! You can get ready made binding- fold the top down ( raw edge) and just sew around the fabric seams. Or make some - as it is straight it does not need to be cut on the bias.
That is a good idea, thank you so much.
Could you use a French seam to finish the inside? Love your videos.
I absolutely LOVE the fabric you're using for the bag! Where can I find that gorgeous floral fabric?! Thanks!
Hi! You are going to love Rifle Paper Co. fabrics then! You can view them all here: sewing.net/collections/rifle-paper-co
I JUST FINISHED MY TOTE BAG KIT PROJECT AND IT WAS FUN. I HAD LEFTOVER VINYL AND I MADE ANOTHER BAG USING THAT. THESE KITS ARE FUN TO MAKE AND AFTER YOU FINISH IT, YOU CAN'T BELIEVE YOU MADE THAT! I NEED TO GET MORE KITS!
We are sew happy you had fun making this tote!
Very detailed video - awesome! How long is the webbing with the shorter handles?
Hi Elaine, That is up to you! You can measure it to be however long you like!
Absolutely Beautiful... I would really like to see inside... I am so New at Sewing, Can you put a lining in if you want to ?
Hi Gena, the bag is "self-lined" at the top part until you reach the vinyl at the bottom.
I will try the tape for precision points.
could you use quilting cotton with a stabilizer to the bottom panel so the entire bag would be stable enough to stand up on its own?
Hi! The wonderful thing about making your own bags is that you can do whatever makes you happy! You can totally use a quilting cotton with a heavy enough stabilizer!
Loved your video! Can i use a heat press in stead of the iron?
Hi Claudia, It's worth a try if that seems like it will be easier for you. We definitely recommend you try it on a scrap piece of fabric first.
What is the finished size.? I need it to fit my embroidery arm. It is about 18" x 15" x 5.5"
If I got a kit, would there be enough fabric to make it larger?
Love your bag but i would like it smaller. Thanks.
Nice
Do you still have that beautiful floral kit available?
I'm glad that I find your channel I like this totes I will made it 4 me ...I will subscribe in your channel to learn more from u...thanks 😍
What is the temperature of the iron? How long should you pressure the areas before you “iron” press the material.
I got both my mother-in-laws sewing machines when she passed away. I have watched my sister and her sew all my life, but I never got into sewing because I was always working as a nurse. I had a car accident and now disabled. Hurt my lower back and neck. In neck and lower back pain 24/7. I miss nursing. It was my passion. I kept on working for six years in severe agony until my doctor told me I had to go on disability. I had to cervical spine surgery and I am having neck pain and migraines constantly with numbness in my hands. I have a bugling disc again. I think it has finally ruptured.
I think this a project that I could manage.
On of her sewing machines has 5 big spools of threads. What kind of machine is it?
What size needle and best thread and tension? I have picked this up just by listening to them talk throughout the years.
Poderia colocar as medidas em centimetros?? Fica mais facil e mais gente a seguiria.
What size needle do you use? Thank you for this demo.
Hi Alicia, We would probably recommend an 80/12 or 90/14 Universal needle, and the Schmetz Vinyl needles are really great when you are sewing through the vinyl parts of the bag. Hope this helps!
Hi what’s the foot on your sewing machine called please?
Fabulous videos thank you Regards Steve
Hi Steve, Pat used the J foot (general purpose foot) and she recommends the teflon foot as well if you are working with a stickier vinyl!
@@sewingstudiofl hi it was the walking foot with roller I was interested in what’s it called?
My general purpose ones nothing like that.
Regards Steve
@@2194steve So that one is called the Dual Feed foot. She put the yarn couching foot attachment on it to sew her yarn on.
Those bags are amazing 🤩 but, noticed that you didn't put a lining inside the bag, as I saw on another video tutorials 🤔
If quilted the backing of the quilt is sufficient.
Good morning. I'd like to do a clear vinyl bag. Should I still do 18x24 to have it doubled, or just do half and have a single layer?
Hi there! We recommend you watch Pat’s easy VINYL tote tutorial. You can watch it here: ruclips.net/video/aHJ8c87kKm8/видео.html
Where can I purchase the kit please?
Nice work. What type of sewing machine is that?
Hi! Pat is sewing on a Brother sewing machine. We love Brother machines!
Can it be made with a zipper closing?
Vorrei sapere dove posso trovare i cartamodelli o le stoffe già pronte da cucire
Why can I get this fabric also looking for Lima print in this fabric
Hi Christine, this is fabric by Rifle Paper Co. We have it here: sewing.net/collections/rifle-paper-co
I’m confused why you serge the sides of the bag at the end. Isn’t it finished after sewing RST 1/2 inch and then turn out?
No it is not finished on the inside. The seam stays visible on the inside since it is self-lined. So we like to serge the inside seam for a more professional finish.
I really want to make this, but I only have one-sided fusible interfacing. Any advice?
Hi there, you can totally make this with one sided fusible interfacing. Just fuse one side and quilt the top part of the bag together with straight line quilting or use an element in the fabric to quilt alongside. That way your bag front and interfacing will act as one piece. Then sew the webbing on. I hope this helps!
@@sewingstudiofl it really does! Thank you for your reply, much appreciated
Are you going to have anymore kits other than the ones that are online?
Yes! We update our Easy Tote Bag Kits all the time! More will be coming soon!
You mentioned the webbing being 3 yards long but what is the width used for this bag?
Hi Lewis! The bag requires two pieces that measure 42" long. 3 yards will give you more than you need, but we like to leave room for error. Happy Sewing!
Sorry I should have been more clear, I’m a newbie at sewing. I meant the width of the webbing ( left to right). I am sourcing my webbing online and it comes in 1” 2” etc. so i just want to make sure it’s accurate if I’m following this pattern 😊. Thanks so much for the prompt reply!
@@lewisgreen976 one inch wide.
How do you find the store to order please ? Thanks
Hi there! Our website is www.sewing.net and you can find our Easy Tote Bag Kits here: sewing.net/collections/pats-easy-tote-bag
I hope this helps!
Where can I buy the kit for this bag please
Hi Katie! You can find our Easy Tote Bag Kits here: sewing.net/collections/pats-easy-tote-bag
Is the fabric too thick to make French seams to finish off the bag?
My opinion, yes too thick. Love the bag idea, but not crazy about the raw edges inside. Course could bind the inside seams..
@@KJSew Yes you totally could bind the inside seams! Serging them also makes them look so much more clean as well!
what is the pad that you iron on please.
Hi Rowena! We love to use The June Tailor Cut And Press for small spaces! You can find that mat here: sewing.net/products/cutting-mat-quilters-cut-n-press-ii-teal-12in-x-18in-jt722
thank so much.
