The Walton's series allowed viewers to connect with the entire family. There was a sense of family unity during a time when the United States was struggling during the depression. Valuable life lessons were learned, we experienced family gatherings around the kitchen table, grandma's stroke, grandpa Walton passed away, and John-boy stepping out on his own, following his dream of going to college and becoming the writer he always wanted, and dreamed of becoming.....The daily struggles of family life, learning valuable lessons through the eyes of Earl Hamner...
I think anyone would agree - there was a connection within ourselves. We could identify with the characters. It was as though Walton's could have been a family who lived down the dirt road from your house. Past the Godsey's store, there's a swimming hole you'll pass along the way, follow the dusty road around the bin, you'll see the Walton house just to the right....Say hello to Zeb and John for me!

When you left the Waltons, it's apparent they missed you! Ralph did a good job representing the two of you. Maybe it was acting to you, but the emotional maturity was real. Great writers.

I love the Waltons for a number of reasons. I was born and have lived in VA all my life. We live about 50 miles from the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. I'm the same age as the children on the show so when the show aired, I was the same age as Erin and Ben. We lived with our grandparents, and I didn't have 7 brothers and sisters but about 16 cousins who were like siblings. My grandparents and mother are gone now but when I watch the show it's like going home. I love all the characters and in my opinion it's the best TV show ever!. Thanks for the interview, Michael is such a great actress. Love her!

"The Waltons" is and will always be my very favorite family TV series. I loved all of the actors in the series and am proud to say that I have met almost all of those individuals except Judy Noton (Mary Ellen) and Richard Thomas (John Boy), Will Gree and Ellen Coby. All of them are so down to earth. Michael riding the bicycle was certainly a different role for her on "The Waltons." A great episode. Can't wait to buy her book.

It's popular today because of the wholesomeness. The closeness of family is another reason. Plus the lessons learned from each episode.
If parents are able to keep their child watching The Waltons over being on the internet it would be a great thing.
Most I converse with are around my age, 62. If younger parents could introduce this show to their youngsters it would become a hit again.

I would love to see Michael play anything. I enjoyed watching the Walton's and will enjoy seeing her in anything she plays in the future. Nobody can ever replace any the original actors who played the Walton's. When Richard Thomas left the show and Robert Wightman replaced him it wasn't the same. We came to love all the original actors who played each of the Walton's. Lastly, can't believe how great Michael Learned looks. 🙂

The drink Olivia order at the bar was called an orange squeeze. John was a little ashamed to order it, L O L. She is a wonderful, down to earth classy lady. And those days gone by of her playing Olivia Walton I cherish so much, as well as the series. My family was very much like that growing up in the hills of Virginia

I further see the wonderful woman Michael is with these current interviews. So grounded and kind. I have to say I pride myself in being able to recognize just about everyone in a foreign project but I sat through the entire Dahmer without recognizing i was in the presence of Michael Learned as Jeff's grandmother. I did feel the familarity, but to check the cast later to uncover Olivia Walton! Currently, I do see Michael's face, but the speaking voice completely threw me off. I don't know that Michael was speaking with an accent but she did not sound anything like herself. And that was a wig and not Michael's hair.

Jim Bob coming of age was a joy to behold! When I was young it was all about John Boy but in reruns a lifetime later I see how Richard having left the series did not diminish the show at all. Immediately it carried on with more wonerful stories of the other children. As they matured they grew into these wonderous characters themselves. Jason and Erin. The Pin Up! When I was growing up I thought grandpa Zeb a bit of an old poop but I see how wonderous he was now. He never lived to see his grandsons go off to war. Surprisingly, Esther, grandma, becomes radiant in the wake of Zeb's death. There is absolutely nothing like The Waltons. So perfectly cast in every way. Cora Beth!
