- Hello to my lovely friends! 💗 I'm SUPER excited to be RE-DOING one of the first videos I ever uploaded on this channel: Lisa’s Monologue from GIRL, INTERRUPTED!!! 🤍📔 I have been wanting to start re-doing certain monologues that I’ve done in the past to show my growth as an actor and revisit some of my most beloved pieces! 🫶 What better way to kick off the series than with my FAVORITE monologue of all time!
Me and this monologue go WAAAY back - I’ve been performing it for 5+ years and could do it in my sleep at this point. FUN FACT: this was the monologue I used for my college auditions (before I decided I wanted a degree outside of acting LOL)! Whenever anyone asks me, "what character would you want to play that's already been done before?", I always say Lisa from Girl, Interrupted! ‼️ I’ve always been attracted to darker, more conniving characters since they are so unlike who I am as a person. It’s so much more fun for me to dive into a role that doesn’t feel like me!
In this scene, Lisa taunts Daisy about her “newfound sobriety” following her release. She mocks the life she’s created, claiming it's all just a facade to cover up the demons of her past that still haunt her. Lisa mocks Daisy for this and even goes as far as accusing her of enjoying the incestuous relationship she has with her father, who funds her new lifestyle.
Lisa is downright EVIL in this scene - absolutely diabolical. The way that she is able to get into Daisy’s head so effortlessly is equal parts fascinating and terrifying. You really get to see into the twisted mind of Lisa in this scene and how she projects her own jealousy onto others. Lisa is such a complicated and densely layered character - I realize something new about her every time I revisit the film.
This scene is just otherworldly - Angelina Jolie is memorizing. I have no doubts that this was the scene that won her the oscar. There is something so quietly horrifying about her character - nobody else could have played Lisa and I mean that wholeheartedly 💘

I ran across this video purely looking for monologues and I've never seen this movie. You made me go find the original and while it has it's place I like yours better. Like if they remade it, set in 2023 I'd want you to be Lisa. Anyways, amazing! Mind if I use some of your stuff for my animated short films?
