- Hello again friends! 💘Today, I bring you a rare treat: a scene from a HORROR FILM!! 🩸🔪 As some of you know, horror is my absolute FAVORITE genre of film but it's typically the most difficult category to pull scenes from. However, I was happy to see another fun monologue in the newest installment of the SCREAM franchise! 😱 Last year, I did Mindy's monologue from Scream 5 so I had to do the new and improved speech from Scream 6! The original Scream is probably my all-time favorite horror movie - I even dressed up as Billy Loomis for Halloween a couple years back!
In this scene, the group is once again theorizing about who the killer could be and what their motive might be. Mindy gives a speech about her theory that the killer is making a sequel to the real-life "requel" they experienced in Scream 5. The killer seems to be taking notes from the Stab movies and basing his killings around the plot of the films. What unfolds is a discussion about how franchises manage to dominate within the modern cinema scape by following a precise set of rules. 🎬
I love the commentary on modern cinema that both of Mindy's monologues in the past two films have covered. I could talk for hours about the changing landscape of the film industry and how the internet changed the type of films that do well theatrically. I'd love to make a video discussing the concept of nostalgia in media sometime because it fascinates me. Franchises, sequels, reboots - it's all an attempt to relive the past! 🎥🍿
I've become a fan of Jasmin Savoy from her work in the Showtime series "Yellowjackets" so it was nice to see her on the big screen again. I think her delivery in this scene was charming and engaging and I'm excited to see the roles she takes on next!
Have you seen Scream 6 yet? What did you think? Although I enjoyed Scream 5 a lot more, I thought Scream 6 was still a super fun time at the theater and it was nice to see some legendary faces on the silver screen again!! 🔪🫶

Okay nerds! Listen up! As terrifying as this all is, I’m actually glad I get a chance to redeem myself for not calling the killers last time. It’s fine. Okay. The way I see it, someone is out to make a sequel to the requel. Stab 1 was in woodsboro, Stab 2 they were in college. Could the killer be trying to copy the movies? That is one possibility! Hero’s now in college - check! Suspicious new characters brought in to round out the suspect list and/or body count - check, check, and check! But it can’t just be about stab 2. It would make sense if we were just in a sequel, but we’re not in a sequel. Because nobody just makes sequels anymore! We’re in a franchise! And there are certain rules to a continuing franchise. Rule 1: EVERYTHING is bigger than last time. Bigger budget, bigger cast, bigger body count. Longer chases, shoot outs, beheadings. You gotta top what came before to keep people coming back. Rule 2: Whatever happened last time - expect the opposite. Franchises only survive by subverting expectations. If the killers last time were whiny snowflake film nerds with Letterboxd accounts instead of personalities, you can bet the opposite will be true here. And Rule 3: NO ONE is safe. Legacy characters? Cannon fodder at this point. Usually brought back only to be killed off in some cheap bit for nostalgia. It’s not looking too good for Gale and Kirby … UGHHH and that’s not even the worst part! The worst part is, franchises are just continued episodic installments designed to boost an IP. Which means main characters are completely expendable now too. Laurie Strode, Nancy Thompson, Ellen Ripley, Sally Hardesty, Jigsaw, Tony Stark, James Bond - Hell even Luke Skywalker all died so their franchises could live on. That means it’s not just the friend group. Any of us could go at any time, especially Sam and Tara.
yes yes and yes!! please make a video explaining the concept of nostalgia in film because i completely agree. i also saw scream VI on the premeir date and i loved it , the scene with gale was iconic and i miss the legacy characters so so much but the had to go…… also your version of mindy’s monologue was FIREEE.😫i’m trying to learn how to memorise lines instead of memorise how the actor is saying the line,if that makes sense LOL.

Also with the lines - I often have that same issue! What helps me is to just watch the scene once to write down the lines and then not watch it again! You’ll forget the way they performed it and end up making more original choices!

with the lines-that makes so much sense now! i have a weird tendency of trying to almost copy the actor but it never ends up feeling right.
Small nit pick at the Ellen Ridley since it’s Ellen Ripley lol but this was spot on!! Felt like I was listening to the exact scene

@Reegan Fabian - Actress Yes!! She's my favourite too, her monologue was all about Sam's dad and the STAB movies. I think you'd be able to give a great performance

I watched it a little a long time ago so I’d have to brush up 😂
