    You're doing great! I've decided to start doing my own nails again. My nail tech wants me to practice consistently because she said she would give me an apprenticeship the next time she has one open. One thing she did show/tell me is to put oil on the cuticles BEFORE you use your nail drill around your cuticles. She said it softens the cuticles and protects them during the drilling process. She uses all Tammy Taylor products and follows all the steps (unlike some nail salons). You're also right about think nails. While I love my nail tech, I do believe that lays acrylic too thin because I too experience chips on the sides at times.

      Elizabeth Morales Are you using a primer or some type of nail prep and dehydrator? Also u have to file your nail bed because acrylic needs a ragged base to stick to. Check out her other video on how to prep your nails for acrylic.

    Also, make sure your wiping your brush(I just use a paper towel) consistently. This will help with your perfect bead staying perfect and not getting running and messy.

    Great video! I have been researching diy nails on RUclips and found your videos! I have decided to start doing my own nails because I am never happy with how the salon does my nails. I watch a lady called nailcareereducation she has so many good tips for diy nails. One tip I have learned on a lot of videos, if you wipe your brush on the paper towel right after you place the bead it helps to keep the consistency of the bead and make it too wet when moving it around. If There is excess liquid on the brush after placing the bead it will change the consistency. Love your videos!

    I'm new to doing acrylic nails and after trying other products and brushes, I have to say that the products you are using in this video made the process easier. The acrylic and brush is awesome. I absolutely love the Pana Kolinsky brush. The brush is expensive compared to other brushes I've tried but I think it's worth the money and will pay for itself in the long run. I just order another brush in the size 6 as my daughter has little fingers. Q: what brand nail glue do you use? Thanks for the review?

  • @farzanachowdhury3313

    Hey, I’m a nail tech. You’re doing a thing wrong. When you pat your acrylic bid, you have to keep on dabbing the access liquid off your brush on a paper towel in order to get smooth application. And if by chance the acrylic starts sticking to the brush, just soak it it just a little bit of monomer and you’re good to go!

  • @steppingintohappiness2840
    @steppingintohappiness2840 6 лет назад +2

    Wipe off your brush after placing the bead, it won’t be so runny, you’ll use less beads, and it’s going to be way thicker!

  • @SB-de6eo
    @SB-de6eo 7 лет назад +2

    Try using some Blue Tac or mounting tac to get your dampen dish to stay put. I use a little dampen dish just like that one when I'm using glitters. The blue tac works wonders. You don't need your dampen dish moving around while your trying to wipe excess monomer off. Hope this helps you.

    Girl love that you said the size of the bottle.!!! Most don't tell you..I'm still waiting for my acrylic..I had to buy CND ... IT WAS THE MOST AFFORDABLE... Amazon vendors started selling kit separately and charging $173 (Canadian) just for a 8onz polymer container!!! THIS RONA GOT PEOPLE TRIPPIN..it used to cost $79. For the entire Mia Secret kit with a gift..I can't wait to begin my nail journey!!

    It’s runny because you didn’t dry it off the other side on the napkin. You’ll know it’s good when it’s like a buttery consistency and it doesn’t run at all when you push it down on to the nail.

    I did my 1st Overlay! I used the same Mia Secret Clear Acrylic Powder but used the Odorless Monomer! It took over 2 hrs. to dry!! I didn't have it extremely wet either. I ended up using the dipping method on top! I have a small bottle of the exact Monomer you have. I will try it next time! How long did it take for yours to fully dry? Thanks!

    • @mrskendrabanks
      @mrskendrabanks  7 лет назад +2

      That is great sis! I've heard about the odorless one, but that it was slightly different. The monomer I use dries very quickly. Less that one or 2 minutes.

    Thank you so much for this!
    I have recently started doing my own acrylic nails. I use nail glue to attach a tip, and file the edge of the fake nail to my real nail to smooth it out. I apply the acrylic, often in multiple small beads because I am a beginner and a big bead dries out too quickly. I use an electric file to smooth it out, with a regular grit then a fine grit.
    The acrylic looks very smooth while it is unpainted. I cannot notice any little caverns. I spend around an hour filing all of my nails. But, once I apply polish, I notice how bumpy the acrylic was. In addition, the thinner acrylic around my cuticles tend to chip. I have purchased some primer that will hopefully help with that.
    Any advice for a newbie is welcome, especially on how to achieve a fully smooth nail with filing. Thank you!

    Fantastic! Go you! I subscribed and I think you did great! I ordered Mia Secret from eBay (Us Ship) as I am from Australia! I did my very first set 2 weeks ago (no lifting!) and used the Young Nails mini set. It was so frightening at first! I stupidly kept trying to get more time (it sets fast) and dipped my brush in the LITTLE 15 ml monomer, it went cloudy and I nearly ruined my $55 brush!! I saved it and that's when I realised I needed a more beginner friendly product. Looking forward to more tutorials best wishes xx

    At first I noticed the beads were only being patted, there was no brushing it down the nail, or wiping off excess acrylic. Usually when the bead is being brushed down the nail, the side walls are usually patted along with the brushing to keep the nails shape. I too am learning, so this really confused me. However, I forget everyone has their own technique. For this being your firs time , they don’t look bad ! FYI, the buffer you used is horrible! Maybe for the first use, but it starts to fall apart & the black writing rubbed off onto my nail!! If you get just a regular buffer, even if you have to pay a few more bucks, you will LOVE it!! Makes a huge difference !

    Does the acrylic powder dry fast which means you got to work faster? I noticed the Kiss kit would dry down fast and I’d have to work faster..

    • @mrskendrabanks
      @mrskendrabanks  6 лет назад

      It really just depends on how much liquid I mix with the powder. When it's more watery it gives me more time. The dryer the mix, the faster it dries. But overall I love how Mia Secret's overall consistency is. I never have issues with time.

    Hey I notice you didn’t use primer and dehydration on before... do you have to use this or not?

    • @PlumpyxMelons
      @PlumpyxMelons 5 лет назад

      Shirlean Baker dehydration and primer helps to not lift. I guess you don’t have to, but I have never went without it. My nails lasts until more than a month with care. No lifting.

    After I applied the powder n finish my nails. My brush was hard like a rock . I let it soak in barbicide but it’s still hard ... what do I do

    • @shllewis9
      @shllewis9 5 лет назад +1

      Barbarcide is a cleaning product its made to sanitize implements not to clean the acrylic brush, when its rock hard let it soak in acetone amd wipe off, not being rude or anything dont buy products you are not familiar with or educating yourself on or at least ask the supplier you buying it from which is most sallys

    hi does the monomer have a strong smell to do my own nails in the house?

    • @VishousTrish
      @VishousTrish 6 лет назад +2

      A Rivera The monomer has a very strong smell to it. I'll use it in one room with the door closed and window open but the smell still consumes the whole house. It works pretty well though.

    After you have used the powder in the small kiss container, is it safe to keep and put a lid on? Or does it need to be thrown out?

    • @mrskendrabanks
      @mrskendrabanks  6 лет назад

      Keona Isaac Yes I keep it with the lid on. I just wanted to transfer it to a smaller container

      JHN 18 Actually, not really. I was so worried about that at first. But the weird thing is I think I actually do better with my non dominant hand. It just takes a little longer.
