Despite him being so deadly to all computers, there's something interesting about Mathrus. The most broken fighting game character of all time is a badge only he wears and is still somewhat of a mystery. In a way he saved MUGEN by ending the Cheapies War. Ironic, isn't it? Since there's no possible way for him to be better, the only way to go is down (AKA nerfing). Seeing an actually safe version of Mathrus that entertains the player instead of ruining the player's computer is quite nice honestly.
So. After some extensive configuration and some modifications. I have created a ( somewhat ) safe idea of what mathrus does. As a computer engineer. He modifies the data inside of your pc by an aggressive amalgamation of several dangerous viruses. It's not actually mathrus itself that's the danger. But the file he's contained in is contaminated. And playing against it essentially activates the .exe, similar to.. What, a sleeper agent? Either way. The activation file is unfortunately melded with most of the assets within the file. And that I'm currently focused on making a patch to Mathrus that is playable without being malicious. Either way. This could take a while depending on how it goes. Since I need to figure out what files are corrupt or not. While I could contact the original creator on how it happened. I feel like I'm starting to bug him with this issue. Either way. While he was making mathrus as a way to combat the cheapies. He essentially made a literal weapon. It's actually quite outstanding how someone managed to do this, but it'll be for another time. But from .y information gathered so far? Don' break your pc over it. Since this is gonna take some serious issue. And let the professionals (try) to break it down, and see what sticks, and doesn't. Tl;dr. I never mean't for this to happen.
I find it entertaining how a being on the level of a Cosmic/Digital Horror creature that is Omnipotent uses Guns and Bullets for his Ranged Projectiles
I thought Mathrus wasn't that bad until I saw his Hypers, if Mathrus wasn't able to use his meter than he would be beatable, I don't know, maybe Chuck Norris can beat him or something, outside of the viruses he doesn't seem that bad.

Lesser Mathrus actually has a whole text thing as an intro where it actually says that the character is only an interpretation of the original Mathrus so I suppose I simply didn't think my comment all the way through. I imagine if you did actually find the definitive Mathrus your computer's fucked. It's probably why it's difficult to find a download link for the original pre nerf Mathrus since that would basically be distribution of malware.
