@@AlainnCorcaigh that's exactly what I'm saying, they don't want to pay out; to them the only good landing is one that doesn't damage the plane. That's what I was implying humorously.
Nice work. The idea is to purposely ease the nose to the ground while you still have enough speed for elevator authority. If you try to hold the nose up, when the airspeed decays it will slam onto the runway. This guy aced it.
Excellent emergency landing 🛬 I was holding my breath for a fire to erupt at any moment but the pilot really was in control of the airplane until the last moment by the grace of God.
I vaguely recall that once upon a time pilots could hit firmly on their mains to try and jolt the nose gear down. That may not have been true or perhaps isn't possible anymore with modern gear. My hats off to the pilot who made such a controlled touchdown.
I was thinking that but I'm not sure that would actually work. You'd have to hit at a pretty extreme angle of attack and with twice the force of a Ryan Air. Worst case scenario would be the gear doesn't lock and you just slam the front of the plane on the runway. That seems like something to avoid. I'm not a pilot though.
@xlxcrossxlx - It's worse with the car chases; they have so many they just crank up the soundtrack; "We don't know if he's armed, if it is a he, we don't know how many are in the car; he might be staying in the same neighborhood that is familiar; he might be on the cell phone;" etc.
@@fALSEfLAGGOT a plane of that size doesnt have landing autopilot. and even when they do, it only accounts for 1% of landings, most of the time the pilots land by hand. and even when "ai" is flying, the pilots still need to set everything up so it knows what to do or change things to ATC request

The Pilot kept the nose up as long as possible, exactly what should be done until the speed drops so low the elevators don't work anymore. Nice soft landing. I bet he also had full flaps on landing to lower the stall speed. The nose gear was down but not locked and collapsed back into the plane.
If only the newscasters would take a breath and stop explaining every millisecond to the audience we might be able to enjoy watching a pilot do something badass. Looks like he's taking a step with his left leg, no wait maybe that's his right leg folks
The only thing that worries me ate those dam landing wheels. One time before landing trying to release the landing wheels they kept cracking and cracking...few more cracking id have freaked out. Every plane should be able to operate rhe wheels manually in case of emergencies.
They can, actually. All aircraft with retractable gear have an emergency extension procedure. It’s one one of the first things you learn when transitioning to complex airplanes. Sometimes those rascals just don’t want to come down and are truly stuck. This pilot did a great job and that plane will fly again.
