    In 1979 I was 17 years old and followed the entire NFL season for the first time. I lived, breathed, ate and slept football. I’m in Calgary Alberta Canada 🇨🇦. In addition to following our Calgary Stampeders in the CFL I also played high school football for the Senior team. Although you’re showing all of the scoring plays I cannot pass up the opportunity to touch on that controversial no call in the AFC Championship. Like many others I still believe Mike Renfro was in bounds for the Houston Oilers. Today that call would’ve been overturned. Thanks again for another video!

      Im not sure also how the Buccaneers reached the NFC championship

    • @marcus813
      @marcus813 2 года назад

      @@ElYahvecinLang All of the division champs got a bye to the Divisional round back then, so the teams that started there had to win only once to play for the conference title. The Bucs were the NFC's #2 seed and would've faced the #3 Rams in the Divisional round if not for restrictions that prevented the Eagles (Wild Card 1) from visiting the Cowboys in that round instead. Also, the Bucs' defense that season was no joke, allowing 20 fewer YPG than the Steelers' D allowed (Steelers were #2) and allowed just under 15 PPG (Bucs led the NFL in both categories).

    For the Chargers to lose to a back up QB and not even have Earl Campbell in there had to be embarrassing. Talk about Dan Fouts crapping the bed, did even worse than that. All those turnovers and choking when clearly the Chargers were the better team, but the Oilers defense held and the Chargers who should have been playing in the AFC championship lost. If you want to talk about choke this is it.

      Wouldn't have changed the outcome and there was a angle which showed renfro slightly juggle rec before cascading to the ground . Pittsburgh scored 10 points afterwards while the oilers scored 0 ,they only produced 3 offensive points inthe previous conference championship game and only 3 offensive points in this one before the renfro play ,validating that Houston didnt possess the offense to produce enough points to defeat pittsburgh .Even if granted a TD by the officials a Steelers team with a all time top 10 hof coach, 4 hof offensive players ,5 defensive hofers all multiple sb winners ,there was no chance pittsburgh wasn't going to win, and by double digits . They had a elite Championship pedigree .
