They ARE tied together. In the Dark Tower series, the antagonist's goal is to destroy The Tower that connects the multiple universes together and rule over the resulting chaos.
I don't think it's the Dark Tower or let me rephrase I don't think it's just the Dark Tower I think the Derry Maine connection has to be made before all of the stories AR brought together
The strongest evidence for this theory to me personally is that the early chapter describing Stan's life after Derry clearly indicates that he has some sort of psychic ability. It's mostly seen through the perspective of his wife, but she observes him do several gut instinct decisions without being able to explain them to anyone really, that turn out to be huge successes. That also helps explain why they are all so successful as adults, they all probably have this shining instinct to guide them if they just believe in themselves.

@@ghoulishgam3r508 It's ironic if McAvoy was hired for his acting talent and not the fact he played a crippled psychic and will be portraying another psychic character.
@@ghoulishgam3r508 Have you ever heard of dramatic irony? It's a literary technique demonstrated by expressing a scenario in such a way that the audience is made aware of it but the characters are left none the wiser, often to comedic effect as a result of some form of tonal dissonance creating a contradiction of expectation; Red Riding Hood going to see her grandmother after the audience has been told that the wolf has already eaten her and is lying in ambush for the young girl would be an example of dramatic irony, as would be the concept of a character jinxing themselves by speaking a negative outcome aloud, only for it to become reality shortly thereafter. The application of this literary concept to real life has lead to coincidence being associated with irony for _hundreds of years_ as the concept of hindsight or a more knowledgeable party takes the role usually played by the limited omniscient audience of a story, thus bypassing the usual technical restriction on what constitutes irony. Case in point, one definition of irony is "a state of affairs or an event that seems deliberately contrary to what one expects and is often amusing as a result." In this case, if someone did not associate McAvoy with his role as Professor X, then the resulting revelation that he is playing another psychic character in It would constitute as irony. This is one my favorite theories out there! I actually recall reading a theory along these lines a long time ago, but it just really connects things and makes a good deal of sense
Pennywise being involved with Carrie actually doesn’t make sense since, according to this theory, Carrie was most certainly abused, which means she has the shine
If you read the dark tower series by stephen king it basically confirms this theory and the point about carrie having the shine. Hers just got out of control due to her circumstances.

"Oh, we all theorize down here. Yes, we do! And when you're down here. You'll theorize too!" I'm sorry, my brain is too dumb to even think of something intelligent.
IT CHAPTER 2 SPOILERS AHEAD! There is more proof in It chapter 2 to support this theory. In the scene where Beverley is stuck in a bathroom stall with people attempting to break down the door, Henry bowers says “here’s Johnny”. This is the connection you’ve been looking for. Your welcome.
I was waiting for someone to point this out, in the story the shining is very much used and the idea of going to different worlds using the shine just supports this theory even more.
Mocha Tapioca if everyone is saying you’ll float too, than who is floating first? I say this because I haven’t watched the movies nor read any of the books...is that a bad thing? Also to be funny, that’s another reason.
Not a bad theory and there's certainly merit to the connections that you made, but you kinda ignore the part where It makes it clear that the more terrified the victim, the better the meal the victim provides. It feeds primarily off of fear, the physical body is just desert. The entire story is about facing one's fears and overcoming them, that's why It is powerless when the group shows no fear when confronting It.
That's a good point, but Ben, and Eddie both encounter IT on their own, in the books too, and they get away and they're definitely afraid. I like the Shine idea.
It's downfall is that it likes playing with his food too much. It could have easily offed the kids one by one on each time one of them encounters It, but that wouldn't provide him with much of a meal. So he teases and terrifies them, getting little tastes of their fear before he goes in for the kill. It's a bit of a cat'n'mouse game. Like I said, the Shine theory certainly does have it's merits so I wasn't trying to shoot it out of the sky...but again: It actually does specify that it prefers its meals as terrified as possible. If the kids are all a bunch of Shiners, I'd imagine an extradimensional being such as It would be clued into this...or at the very least know that there's "something" preventing him from killing them. Considering his a predator, he'd move on to other prey if there was some cosmological force that prevented him killing the kids. Quite simply: It dragged the game out for too long, allowing the fear to become anger which fueled the courage of the kids. They were no longer afraid of It, but rather pissed off and out for vengeance. This change happens when they realize that Its primary goal was to scare them, because their fear was what gave It strength. Get rid of that fear and you get rid of Its power.
Not being afraid wouldn't give the kids the ability to psychically communicate or send power to Mike. After all it isn't untill the very end of the movie where they learn not being afraid helps, all the other time were *seemingly* luck
With all this in mind, it seems plausible that Carrie also has the shining, the strongest shine seen so far in the Stephen King connected universe. Let's go over the evidence: Shining = telepathy with a cooler name Carrie has telepathic abilities MatPat pointed out that all characters with the shining (Danny, Halloran, the losers club) suffered abuse as a kid. Carrie absolutely fits this standard. The shining varies in strength from person to person. It seems possible that after a certain point, the power goes past telepathic abilities and extends to telekinesis, if it's strong enough. Stephen King probably didn't forget about Carrie when he came up with the idea of the shining
Most people overlook the fact that Richie had a key part in killing IT. They say it was all Bill, completely forgetting that Richie saved his life. I think Bill and Richie have some kind of power that is stronger than the others, especially Bill, since they were the ones that defeated IT. They were the ones that could travel into the macroverse and participate in the Ritual of Chüd.
"I'm MatPat, the RUclips clown, and we've got a whole circus down here..." That is actually a very accurate interpretation of The film Theorists AND The Game Theorists.

The director has stated that he wanted Pennywise's to have a 'babyish' look to him and that his head is similar to that so as to give him an 'innocent' look (apart from the obvious creepy makeup) to bring in the children.
Penny is actually just a straight up grumpy toddler he’s constantly saying “play with me” “no one wants to play with me” he bites peeps lik most little kids do and he just cries wen they make fun of him
Uh, maybe something about Henry not ever interacting with someone using his shine, and therefore he was untrained in the shine for so long that he just lost it? Or he was unlucky and it just never manifested? Or maybe Pennywise, through his possesion/deception/mind control, made the shine feel like Henry was not a good host, and therefore left? I don't fucking know dude, i haven't read a stephen king novel or seen a stephen king movie ever.
@@phieillydinyia Oh yeah huh, those both kind of make sense, I guess. Also cause, his only parental figure was less than stellar, and a man who's approval he always wanted, and he taught him all the wrong ways to go through life. I'm guessing IT also feeds on feelings like hate or anger too, and uses those to manipulate too.
I think he did. Remember, it was Pennywise who drove him insane. He could see the clown. He saw the visions and heard the voices just like the Losers Club, even when Belch and Victor couldn't. His shine clearly wasn't as strong as the Losers' (possibly due to a lack of empathy?) but there clearly was some there. Edit because I finished the book and some of what I said before was wrong.
i like matpat and all but if a clown starts talking to me from from a sewer il run the other way as fast as i can so fast that il leave a cartoon smoke shape of myself behind
With regards to how it's possible all members of the losers club have the shining; it was actually mentioned in the book that the space turtle has been actually subtly directing each kid towards each other for their entire lives so that they would come together. So it's less of an "Oh, what are the odds all friends have psychic powers", and moreso that they were drawn together by the actions of a turtle god.
I just LOVE the fact that after Pennywise takes a bit out of the arm, he awkwardly waves.

That's the best description I've EVER heard !

That is a very common phrase
IT CHAPTER 2 SPOILERS AHEAD!
There is more proof in It chapter 2 to support this theory. In the scene where Beverley is stuck in a bathroom stall with people attempting to break down the door, Henry bowers says “here’s Johnny”. This is the connection you’ve been looking for. Your welcome.
i was thinking the same thing when i heard it in theaters i was like matpat better make a vid where he says it confirms it
also richie is a closeted gay and is abused for it by henry
That sounds more like an Easter egg than a legitimate connection, but it still sounds promising
LOGIC I was going to say this
I think that's more of a reference than proof that they connect to The Shining
The dark tower books (not the movie) actually take a lot of this deeper and are very much worth the read.
I was waiting for someone to point this out, in the story the shining is very much used and the idea of going to different worlds using the shine just supports this theory even more.
Roses are Red
Violets are Blue
If you meet Pennywise,
You'll all float too.
Mocha Tapioca if everyone is saying you’ll float too, than who is floating first? I say this because I haven’t watched the movies nor read any of the books...is that a bad thing? Also to be funny, that’s another reason.
Mocha Tapioca I'm probably faster the pennywise
Mocha Tapioca the plot is they survive
Mocha Tapioca. Ok now that was good
I have a gun
5:38 MATPAT KNEW WHO WOULD PLAY THE GROWN UP VERSION OF BILL!

Billy I love you
I love you too Georgie......But you’re not Georgie

One of the greatest scenes in the movie
Genji _343 one of the greatest scenes in cinema
James McGuinness I’m glad you agree
Genji _343 Don’t agree pennywise should have showd up while Georgie lays dead on the ground
The way they left it for just long enough to have an “oh shit that was Georgie” moment is genius
Genji _343 Yes.
i love how when the crab from mawana was singing shinny the subtitles said "OH YEAH THATS MY JAM(lmao, agreed) i love yt subtitles
Who else is addicted to watching theories?
Skelewyvern me
Me Me Me Me Meeeee
The more important question: who isn’t?
Skelewyvern meee I have watched this theory about 5 times bc it makes sence and I love this theory too.
MEEeReEeEeeEeEe
Pennywise: you will float too
Godzilla: good luck with that
Tf does Godzilla have to do w any of this
Take Janner Imagination my friend, Imagination.
Nah y’all are just gay af
What does sexuality have to do with an imaginary fight between Godzilla and Pennywise?
10csysisol maybe Godzilla would penetrate Pennywise with his giant ancient lizard cock
IT was just a dumb predator who didn't know how to properly feed. Could have been having it's kicks out of any emotion if it were as smart as Dandelo.
Fair point, well said.
Let's go over the evidence:
Shining = telepathy with a cooler name
Carrie has telepathic abilities
MatPat pointed out that all characters with the shining (Danny, Halloran, the losers club) suffered abuse as a kid.

I will would listen to clown Pat... I would love a circus of memers and pun makers.... And theorizers, I would theorize too...

"I'm MatPat, the RUclips clown, and we've got a whole circus down here..."
That is actually a very accurate interpretation of The film Theorists AND The Game Theorists.

And the internet in general
And pretty much anything and everything on the internet. Yes, even those Instagram cats you love.
And the circus has alot of clickbait!
Crash's Underwear know that’s all of youtube

that matpat voicing pennywise haunts my every nightmare

Steven King characters: has childhood trauma and gets cool telepathic powers.

I would love to see more videos highlighting the interconnectivity of the Stephen King stories. Definitely look into the Dark Tower series.

Pennywise
Yeah, I know. Pennywise’s fear is a turtle
Giant ancient turtle from the start of the universe, seen in the Dark Tower.
So yeah.
All turtles.
3.14 Dragon don't be dumb, he wasn't afraid of the turtle. In fact, the turtle died.
is it me or did the turtle create the universe
That fuckin turtle. Probably the weirdest shit I’ve ever read.
Go away

It had it all...
There’s a pun there somewhere.
I hate you

Teach me the way senpai! ;-;
Is it it or it
5:38 I find it funny how half the stuff in this theory doesn’t happen yet Matt somehow predicts James McAvoy as Bill in a joke about Bill being professor Xavier
Penny wise: Want a balloon?

What does Mat Pat look like when he was doing Pennywise impressions in his closet?
Mystic Doughnut I wonder
The Film Theorists Hey *Matpat* can you send me a text that does not have a link
I’m pretty sure film theory wouldn’t send over one link
Why are these always so cringey
Mystic Doughnut would be kind of funny to see that
5:37 I love how that's the actor who played Bill in IT chapter two
MatPat foreshadowed the casting of adult Bill in Chapter 2
@5:37
NO they watched this video then casted him
The turtle may be the “turtle of infinite knowledge” that’s also referenced in Rick and Morty.
Just a thought 💭
Or the turtle of Kungfu panda
Or the TMNT!
I'm guessing it's the same origin as the World Turtle in Pratchett's discworld series which is based on Hindu mythology.
Time travel 🐢 in Boruto!
Wow really ? I don't remeber any turtle in Rick&Morty
Take notes, if a theory gets requested enough he'll do it. So matpat, where's that cory in the house theory?!
Q'squad Is it before or after the boku no pico theory?
The Film Theorists Hello Faker :>
Screw that, what about doctor ho part 3?
Idan Zadok I'd prefer Doctor Who, but Doctor Ho is cool too.
Q'squad *Laughing*
He hasn't done Doctor Who P3 yet. That's not entirely true, then.
albert einstein: im the smartest man alive
matpat: i understand fnaf
albert einstein: you're clearly superior
So Pennywise’s greatest fear is The Shining power? Fight the supernatural with a supernatural power. Makes sense to me.
let sam and dean deal with It
Bren Huckabaa One of my kind has appeared.
(Pulls up in an Impala)
Did somebody say Supernatural?
Bren Huckabaa lol yes
Hello i miss Cas ;n; that's all i have to say
The hell was that ending.... why is no one saying anything about BATTERY ACID AND IT'LL MELT YOUR FACE OFF!
lmaofelix no, he says "this is battery acid you slime!" And in the adult portion he says "this is battery acid! Now you disappear!"
This is battery acid you slime and it'll melt your face off
lmaofelix no problem.
Princess TNT nmmk
Next theory, can it be on why Pennywise's head looks like Megamind?
looks more like Jimmy Neutron tbh
He IS megamind
BlossomingHannahness there from the same planet
😆
The director has stated that he wanted Pennywise's to have a 'babyish' look to him and that his head is similar to that so as to give him an 'innocent' look (apart from the obvious creepy makeup) to bring in the children.
Penny is actually just a straight up grumpy toddler he’s constantly saying “play with me” “no one wants to play with me” he bites peeps lik most little kids do and he just cries wen they make fun of him
When I watched IT.
Me : Who the hell let a flipping 5 year old boy go *OUT IN THE RAIN ALONE*
Adult neglect is a running theme in Derry. Literally no one cares about those kids.
And it was the 1950's, it was a different time as well.
My cousin and I laughed every time someone got hurt ...
girl it was the 80s. people back then hitchhiked and seriously thought it was a good idea to get into a strangers car
yeah, and then they all acted surprised when people actually got killed
Hey I've got a question that only just occurred to me now. Henry Bowers was abused by his father, why didn't he shine too?
Uh, maybe something about Henry not ever interacting with someone using his shine, and therefore he was untrained in the shine for so long that he just lost it? Or he was unlucky and it just never manifested? Or maybe Pennywise, through his possesion/deception/mind control, made the shine feel like Henry was not a good host, and therefore left? I don't fucking know dude, i haven't read a stephen king novel or seen a stephen king movie ever.
maybe he did, Pennywise never killed him,
@@phieillydinyia Oh yeah huh, those both kind of make sense, I guess.
@@ninetails8471 Then what are you doing with this video? And your life? Read a Stephen King book, I beg of you (start with The Shining).
Pennywise: "Hey kid... do you want infinite v-bucks?"
