CLASS II ELASTICS - ORTHODONTIC TIPS

  • In addition to the desired effects of distalization of the upper teeth and mesialization of the lower teeth, Class II elastics also have frequently undesirable side effects, such as the extrusion of lower molars and upper incisors. The use of these elastics in round wires, which are more flexible, makes the mechanical control of these side effects even more difficult. If such effects are not desirable for the patient (sometimes they are), think about alternatives to using these elastics or at least use them only on rectangular wires and look for other options to reduce the vertical components.

    Are they effective?

No, teeth extraction will destroy their profile. They need jaw surgery. Elastic wear will also destroy their profile.

@@alesiodagostino4740Bruh, Don't be misinformed. Even after jaw surgery or maxilla surgery, you are forced to wear elastics, it is practically mandatory.

I can't believe how many stupid comments I'm reading. How do they care so much about aesthetics over a good bite? (Since one thing leads to another) In the video, What you perceive as "mewing" is a gapped bite, probably lip incompetence, and trouble biting with the front teeth. In the second case, post elastics, you can see a normal, passive closing of the mouth, in which you do not have to force your lips and you will not have to go around taking in air involuntarily. This is what a proper bite should be like. If you get to that point and feel like you're missing a jaw, my friend, you've always had a jaw missing (in fact, you can clearly see it in the video, I didn't have much of a chin before) and that can be corrected with surgery. A chin implant or chin advancement. BUT DON'T KEEP BITING BADLY, THIS CAUSES MANY TMJ PROBLEMS, UNNECESSARY DENTAL WEAR, AND POOR QUALITY OF LIFE EVEN WHEN SLEEPING.
