All this time I thought i had an overbite.... but its really a deep bite wow
The terms are often used interchangeably - it can get confusing...
SAME I thought I had a overbite but I had a Deep bite
Me too!
SAME 🤦♀️watched a million videos about overbite thinking I had it

Just started treatment fir my 10 year old. She has a 100% overbite. Hope this helps her and in the long run helps her over all confidence.
I have a severe overbite. So much so that it has made the rounded part of my lower jaw bone pointy. It isn't painful (yet) unless I've been eating things that take maximum jaw pressure to beak down (like taffy type foods). I do get headaches sometimes which I suspect originates from my jaw. My jaw clicks when my mouth opens too wide. Due to the overbite, my mouth doesn't close on its own naturally so I'm a mouth breather, but I use mouth tape to keep my mouth close when I sleep. I got a orthodontist consult yrs ago, and he told me that in order to get the smile I wanted, I would need to have all of my wisdom teeth removed prior to getting braces (they grew in correctly so, they haven't been problematic) because my jaw bone is fixed at my age (37 now) and removing them would allow it to be more flexible (or something along the lines of that). And I would need jaw surgery a year after my braces are installed to fix my severe overbite. My goal is to of course, fix the overbite, and close the gap in my two front teeth. The gap is about half of an incisor wide, not wide enough to fit another tooth there. One of my incisors overlaps the tooth next to it a bit, like there's slight crowding. The rest of my teeth are totally fine, they're straight aside from the overbite making them look misaligned. Do you think it's really necessary to have all of my wisdom teeth removed for braces? My overbite is obviously a skeletal issue and I do believe I would most likely need surgery, but can braces fix a severe bite problem like mine on their own? Can my jaw be manipulated without surgery?
What happened brother now??
Love this!! Would love to see a video about the scissor bite!

Wow! Your video is awsome! I have a severe deep bite and starting my orthodonstist treatment next week. I was looking for a video that explains how it will work. You did a great job! Now I have a better idea of the treatment i'm gonna have! Thanks 😁🙌👌

I just got turbos with my Invisalign and this helped me understand how it all works. Thank you!! I had braces as a teen and that orthodontist didn’t fix my moderate deep bite. I didn’t have a chance to ask my new ortho about turbos at my appointment.
Glad we could help! The bite ramps or bite turbos on the Invisalign trays work exactly the same as braces. Hopefully this time you'll get a perfect bite and get everything fixed :)

I’ve had a deep bite for years now! It covers my entire bottom teeth and touches my lower gums but my dentist keeps saying I don’t need braces since I’m on Medicaid and they won’t cover it anyways. He says unless it’s life-threatening or I can’t eat they won’t do anything so my dads trying to look into Invisalign now
There are times that insurances or Medicaid won't cover orthodontic treatment since they consider it a cosmetic procedure. The good news is that most orthodontists offer interest-free payment plans that help make braces and Invisalign affordable.
Good luck with everything!
@@PremierOrthodontics we looked into the installments, and unfortunately even $100 a month is a little too much for us because my brother is going to college too. But my dad is friends with an ortho and he offered us a slight discount so we’re looking into braces vs Invisalign and seeing if the cost is something we can do. Would you say for a severe deep bite and crowded lower teeth braces are better or Invisalign? I’m 17, and prefer Invisalign but I’ve read articles stating that braces are what I’ll ultimately have to go with because of expanders and the herbst appliance
I wouldn’t do Invisalign for overbite if I were you.. I did it for my overbite and it didn’t work.. I spent 5k. Now I’m doing ceramic braces. It fixed my overbite within 5 months, but I had to pay another 5k.
@@rickylionheart4577 how severe was your over bite ?

Just realized I have an overbite and I'll be setting a consultation tomorrow now that I have dental insurance that'll cover a portion of the cost.
update?
I had the third option for my sever overbite but they didn't use tooth pads 25 years ago, nor springs, just used bands and wires. I never developed any wisdom teeth, my "sixers" (don't even know what they are) didn't come through either I was told. I have no room at the bottom for any teeth anyway and a space on each side at the top, my teeth are back to a severe overbite and I don't even remembering that happening, just over the years they've gone back to their natural alignment because they've had the space to 🤷🏻that's my assumption. I've apparently got a very small jaw but I'm not ugly with it so I'm not mad.

1:33 after the correction of deep bite once braces are removed, how are the gaps filled between the upper molars and bottom molars inside the mouth as shown in this animation ?
How are you supposed to eat when you have the bite turbos? I’m pretty sure I have a moderate deep bite. And how long does it take for them to come together?
Sadly i'm not in your area, quite far from it or i would've come.
Very good informative video. I wish i had here a professional such as yourself to help.
One question.
Can a person correct on their own a mild deep bite?! Like controlling the posture of their jaw as much as possible?
It would be difficult or impossible to posture your jaw forward all the time without the help of an appliance. It usually requires 6-12 months of posturing of the lower jaw to get a permanent change, and this would likely not happen without some extra help from the orthodontist.
Hopefully you can find a doctor in your area that can help you out
My son had an underbite, he started when he was 11 1/2 years old. He wore the head gear for 5 months and now the orthodontist mentioned he has deep bite and said 4 premolars (2 top and 2 bottom) teeth needed to be removed. I’m not happy with that. Was the deep bite caused by wearing the head gear too along, for 5 months? Would the deep bite been avoided if he stopped wearing the head gear sooner? Could the deep bite be fix without pulling teeth? In your 3 examples, did they have to remove the teeth? I want to get another orthodontist advise. I really regret going to this current one.
I had had Invisalign (wasted) my money and time, and ten years later I have to wear real braces, I have a deep bite, and have the 3rd conditions in which I have those little bites blocks, I can't wait for my results. My treatment started at the beginning of September of this year 2022. Getting used to it.
Good Luck with your treatment!
@@PremierOrthodontics thank you! I hope so too.
@premier orthodontics . So I just got my wires change and now all of a sudden it seems like my front teeth are more forward over my bottom row and just talking I'm biting on top of my bottom teethe brackets is that normal because all the after pictures you've shown the front lies over the bottom row is that how everyone's teeth originally is supposed to be?
Do you also use a wire with a reverse curve of spee? I will be asking my orthodontist about it in my next visit to correct my lower arch
Hi doctor....your explanation is very easy to understand..... i am wearing braces from 1.5 years and my treatment is about to end within 2 month....but after seeing your vedio I noticed that I have mild deep bite .....I also discussed my concern with my orthodontist..but he is not listening to me...and keeps telling that it's okk... its normal 🙄...but anybody can clearly say that it's a mild deep bite...should I change my orthodontist...and If I do how much time it take to correct my mild deep bite ? Plz answer
Any updates?
My upper teeth are like in the same plane but my lower front teeth are a little lifted up from their plane due to which i have to open my mouth a little wide for brushing my teeth, getting braces next week hope my ortho would fix this too 😔
Hi doc.Ideally where should we put on bite pads molar or premolar.Mandibular or maxillary
i have a severe deep bite and yesterday i got my first fixed braces! it's just on the top half of my mouth in order to get my top teeth in line, but when they're straight i'll likely require elastics and bottom braces. not exactly excited for further treatment as the pain from getting my first braces was pretty bad, but i have to power through as my bottom teeth smash against the roof of my mouth which needs to stop asap.
goodluck with your journey! I have the same case as yours and I’m planning to get braces soon :)
i have buck teeth so my normal resting face was just them sticking out with an overbite but now i made myself constantly rest it with my lips over tjem so im used to it now😭
My son has had his braces for almost a year to correct his overbite, today they added what they called a booster and the rubber bands. Is that the same thing that you showed for a moderate deep bite?
Thank you!!!!
You’re welcome!

I had my gap correction two years ago for 6 months and my teeth got perfectly aligned. however my doctor didn't tell me about my underbite. I am currently 19 and got ceramic braces again for my bite correction . I have a mild over bite of 3mm-4mm. I got my braces a month ago but how long do I have to wear braces for ?
That's hard to say without seeing your teeth and bite. Most patients that need deep bite correction will need treatment for at least a year, and sometimes more. I would definitely ask your doctor and they can give you better estimate.
I have this issue, my orthodontist hasn’t dont anything about it and I’ve had braces for over 2 years now. It’s so frustrating 😭
Check out another dentist!
My orthodontist is using TADs / mini screws to fix my deep bite.
Also make a video on mini screws .
Thanks for the suggestion! We use mini screws as well , they work great! We just haven’t gotten to that video just yet 👍
Hi doc! So when I go for a cleaning appointment for my teeth, I can just ask the doctor to check if I have overbite?
If you’re wanting to fix your bite it would be a great idea to get a consultation with an orthodontist.
Your family dentist that does cleanings and exams probably won’t be doing braces, but they may refer you to an orthodontist for treatment.
Hii Sir
Love from India ❤️
I'm using Ceramic Braces from the past 2 months. My question is how much time will it take to close my gaps (2 gaps in upper teeth and 2 gaps in lower teeth)
Thanks in advance
Great question. Usually be your second or third appointment your doctor can start closing the gaps. It might take a couple months to close - depending on the size of the spaces.
Usually most gaps will be closed within the first 6-8 months in treatment but each case will be a bit different.
Hope that helps 👍
I have a really bad under bite plus my jaw is on an diagonal angel and shifted to the right by a few cm
Hey! I have a deepbite where none of my lower teeth are showing, my teeth are very nice and lined up and I wonder what treatment I should be aware of, thanks!!
You will likely need some form of braces with bite turbos and elastics. The video outlines these treatment protocols if you want to rewatch it. Good luck!
Hey I have the same thing my teeth aren’t bad but I don’t like they way my smile looks
@@tayla7671 I feel ya! I booked an appointment with my dentist and introduced me to an specialist. They told me that my teeth can get really bad in the future because the lower jaw is grindin behind the upper teeth or something. Now im just waiting for them to give me a holler.
What do you recommend to preserve extruded teeth to close a curve of spee and deep bite?
Omg I have them bite pads when I first got braces they was giving me hell now I'm eating everything only a month with braces
Thank you for the video. So helpful. I have got deep bite, midline shift and gummy smile( not that bad, but still I can see it ). Can braces fix all these problems
It sounds like braces should work great for your treatment :)
@@PremierOrthodontics thanks for the answer. Have a wonderful day:)
I have been wearing braces for a year and a bit, i recently asked my doctor when i can take it off but he says that i will need more time. I dont see my braces helping deep bite other way i think its worsoning it, im just wondering should i wait for longer too see the change or should i take it off and seek other treatments. ( i have normal braces with the blue thingy on my back teeth)
Do you use Damon braces for treating deep bites: mild to moderate ones? If that is possible a more natural smile is accomplished without too much tilting of the teeth
I've always thought that i got an over bite but instead i have deep bites and it seriously hurts my jaw, im planning to get braces to get them fixed
Hi Dr. Did you use NITI or SS rectangular wire on upper & lower arches with elastics when correcting the moderate overbite? Thank you
I have never heard of bite pads. I’m getting fitted tomorrow for a bite plate. What is the difference ?
Hi! I just got turbos on the back of my top front teeth two weeks ago. And I was curious is it normal that I can't bite down at all on my back teeth like they don't touch and its making it hard to be able to eat ?
Yes it's completely normal. It'll take a couple of months to get them touch each other, until then you'll have to be on semi-solid soft foods. I had it too, it's hard but worth the end result.
Pavithra is correct! Your bite feels really weird at first but it will get better with time 👍
How long does it take to have the ability to close your mouth with your back teeth touching?
Is extraction of teeth necessary for severe overjet? I have severe overjet and my orthodontist is suggesting me to extract 2 teeth
Hello Wingshin, great question! Extractions vary from patient to patient, and depending on your case your orthodontist should know exactly how to treat this :)
Thanks
Is is possible to increase the vertical height of the lower third or fix a recessed chin with this treatment?
Can u say how long the treatments took?
Please help me I have a question. I have a moderate to severe deep bite, however my orthodontist didn’t put any bite pads, rubber bands, or turbos. They only put my top braces, with a curved wire, and once they straighten they will add the bottom. Should I be concerned that they used no bite blockers of any sort?
I hope they can correct mine, it’s so bad. I’m at the point where I care more about my bite than my alignment.
Braces should be able to fix both your bite and align your teeth. 👍
I just started my ortho tx, and they put bite turbos on my #7 through 10, but im only hitting the one behind #10.
And it hurts a lot, I've had them for 6 days now and I wanna cry
I know that the first week is super uncomfortable and awkward, but if you can tough it out another couple of days you should start feeling much more comfortable. :)
how long did it take each of these people to get the results in the photos?
Which is better for overbite? A lot of people in comments are complaining about Invisalign I heard it’s faster. I got braces seven years ago and the doctor didn’t correct my bite neither did I get retainers so my teeth are again messed up. Now i want to go for Invisalign, but up I don’t know if it’s better than braces or not. Please suggest
Hello doctor… I was wondering… do you do consultation to a person that has braces? Also, where are you located? I had braces to fix my deep bite, but it is not been fixed instead the doctor is cutting my gums to uncover my teeth.
Hi doctor, what if I don't want my upper jaw or/and teeth to go backward but rather want my lower jaw to get forward and fix overbite?
If you're wanting to move the lower jaw forward then you may need to look into braces with jaw surgery. This procedure is called a mandibular advancement. You should be able to find resources online that explain this procedure in depth.
How much does correcting an overbite affect the chin? Will correcting an overbite fix a recessed chin?
Since this treatment usually pulls the top teeth back and pushes the bottom teeth forward, it does improve the chin a lil bit. Although, if you want to really fix a recessed chin, you either need cosmetic surgery or headgear that pulls the lower jaw forward.
Can I suggest bite pads to my denstist? lols my upper tooth kept hitting my lower bracket causing it to be removed on a monthly basis.
It's been 2 years and my overbite is still not fixed.
I think my returned as they were. I wore braces 3 years i think, over 10 years ago. And now my 4 front teeth are getting grinded because they hit the back of my upper front teeth.
I have neither an overbite or underbite- my teeth clash- and I've been advised that I need to have braces in order to correct the alignment of my teeth, and then get veneers. Veneers b/c I have several teeth in the front cracked or chipped due to not having an overbite and teeth clashing, and I grind my teeth at night. Wore an nightguard for a while, but that didn't correct the teeth alignment problem. What is the best way to correct the alignment of my teeth?
I think I have a mild deep bite. We already tried the elastics, it moved a little but didn't entirely fix it because there's no more space for the teeth to move. So my doctor suggested that I should have a tooth extraction, the ones behind the canine tooth. Will it really fix? I'm kinda worried
do bite plates usually cause a gap in the two front teeth?
I have deep bite and my right jaw I different from left jaw will braces(invisalign) fix it
My son is just 11years old
Is a good age to fix this problem?
He had moderate bite plate
Orthodontics said is because he chews his nail fingers…
I have to have something called 4-2 Braces i really don’t understand why if you could explain that would be great.
How to correct mild deep bite in adults patients? I have heard that posterior extrusion in adults is unsuccessful & can relapse. Is it true?
Hey doctor..I have mild deep bite..and my first right CI overlaps the left CI..I would like to know whether I can have an ortho procedure for braces since I have gotten RCT for my Molars both upper and lower..Will that affect the procedure?
You can still get braces on teeth that had root canal treatment. Shouldn't be a problem.
My orthodontist just installed bite pads on m front teeth. It's so very uncomfortable, I can't even chew but I'm hoping the results will turn out great.
My dentist advice me to use biteplane🥴 for my overbite and I only have braces on my lower teeth is that right?

Update?
Hello sir, I have a quick question, so I overheard my orthodontist say that I had a deep bite I’ve had my braces on since November. I’m 20 years old so I’m just curious if the braces will be able to fix the deep bite considering my age, it’s not severe or anything I’d say mild to maybe moderate, but I was just curious if the braces will fix this and I won’t need to get jaw surgery? (Also I have not gotten any of these treatments yet and I’m guessing they are just straightening all my teeth first before they proceed with this)
I have a severe deep bit you can’t see my bottom teeth at all is that normal
I had bite pads but cause they put that much on half of my mouth was up and the other side was down making it uneven and uncomfortable so I had to rebook a appointment ti get it shaved off which was uncomfortable
sup doc! i have a kind of shift to the right on my upper jaw and a kind of deep bite cuz my front incisors decided somehow to move to the right it’s probably cuz im missing 2 permanent laterals so my orthodontist decided to put on metal braces only on my upper arch to fix my bite and asymmetry i wanna ask you if that’s okay or not like will that develop facial asymmetry in the future cuz i didn’t get them put on both arches? btw my bottom teeth are fine they’re so straight so is my upper teeth as well! i’d really like to hear your opinion
It’s hard to give you a definite answer without seeing your teeth, but there are times that doing braces on just a single arch works out great
I’m confused I had braces when I was 15. I have a severe deep bite like the last one Yet my ortho never said any methods for fixing it
Soo are we gonna talk about the second patient's glow up? 😳

My pleasure!
hey, does age effect this at all? is it better to get treatment when you're younger or does it not really matter? i'm 16 but i'm not sure when i'll be able to get braces to fix this, hopefully soon
The treatment can sometimes go quicker if you receive treatment while you are still growing, but even as an adult teeth still move. At age 16 you're definitely not too late!

i have a deep bite that was corrected for five years, four years later i’ve been wearing my retainers but i have my deep bite again! why is that?
Hi doc! One question! I have a deep bite, would the ortho be placing braces only at the top first and then the bottom? That's what I remember her mentioning, but she didn't mention any of the methods in the video. I was a little unsure why she only wants to do braces at the top first.
Some doctors may use this method. It works too! There are lots of treatment methods - our video is simply demonstrating how we correct deep bites at our office
Did your orthodontist said you have to remove 4 premolars (2 top and 2 bottom)? My son’s orthodontist said he would need but I don’t know if it can be fix without removing teeth.

@@jennyd5728 you could try consulting other dentists for some more professional opinions about your son.
I have a moderate, almost extreme deep bite and I'm 21 years old. Can I expect an aesthetically "normal jaw" if I were to seek treatment right now? It's caused a lot of self conscious problems and I'm hoping that I won't need surgery, because I've read that my jaw bones are pretty much ready screwed because I'm not a developing child anymore.
I’m 23 and in the same shitty situation
You only need surgery if your jaw is too narrow for your teeth to have enough space. If that is not the case and you are only looking to fix your deep bite you might want to look into bite blocks "turbos" . I have a combination of braces and bite blocks and while they totally suck (they give me a lisp and also make it very hard to chew) they already made a huge difference within the first few weeks.
Edit: i'm 29 by the way, so don't worry about your age, lol
@@wanjahe8749 THANK YOU! i will definitely ask my orthodontist about potentially getting those

I'm planning to get braces and I have an overbite. I have notices my front teeth likes to touch my bottom lips. I know they are shifting again. My big concern is, will this make tmjd worser or better? I have tmjd.
Usually getting your bite corrected will improve TMD symptoms. It doesn't always cure TMD, but it will usually improve, and rarely makes it worse.
