The happiest gift post quarantine would be a J&j podlogical podcast match up with the 4 of them in person. It doesn’t have to be Jenna coming back or anything. But like a place she feels safe to have an honest conversation with friends.
on the topic of marriage: my best friend and I are getting legally married for a few reasons; 1. we want kids but I am asexual and she isn't really interested in being in a romantic relationship so it's just easier for us to adopt and coparent 2. I have pretty bad medical issues so if I have a bad episode I want her to be able to make medical decisions for me if I can't 3. we both have a similar life plan and it's fun to be with your best friend. marriage isn't always about romance. it's also financially easier to be married than to just live together and share expenses.
This is an extremely interesting arrangement.

Imagine people being so obsessed with the idea of marriage that they'd rather believe unmarried people are actually secretly married and lying about it than them honestly not wanting to get married.🤦🏻♀️
Or maybe they are so ingrained with the idea that living together as a couple before marriage is a major sin, so they hope people secretly did things in the "right" order, thus avoiding divine punishment.
This makes me so grateful that my mom has never cared if I get married or have kids because I don't want either of that in my life.

I think it’s because people need something to validate their love, which is very messed up to me. Like you have to prove to people that you “officially” love each other. So before you got married, the love wasn’t real? lol You could also make your own but not legal marriage certificate lol A piece of paper doesn’t replace honest and respectful communication.
When I first started dating my SO he told me that we weren't going to fight about money. Any time that I start he stops me and we have an actual conversation. It's been 8 years and a baby and we're doing great.
This podcast is one of the few that I can listen to and pay attention the whole time. I think you guys are down-to-earth enough that you aren't tiring to listen to, but you also are entertaining enough to not feel dry. Just a mature, chill podcast for my tired soul lol

@@SadCarBitch not like that as such but Casefile, Trace Evidence and They Walk Among Us are great podcasts. Well researched and presented with no gimmicks or banter. On youtube you might like Observe and The Behaviour Panel which analyse body language in interviews.

I watch RUclips the same way Cristine does. Two years ago I started watching a couple beekeeper channels and now I'm obsessed with a sheep farmer in Canada and a cow hoof trimmer in Scotland. I have no background or expertise in agriculture, but I sure do find it interesting!

It is absolutely refreshing hearing them say that they don’t call each other names out of anger or that Cristine has never done that in a relationship because my life has been constantly surrounded by people who do name call out of anger.
RIGHT! As someone who has grown up in a household like that, it's taking years of therapy to undo that and be better.

Ah yes, my dad told us several times that my little brother was the smartest of all his children and both my parents thought that ranking us would make us more competitive and ambitious but it just made me feel insecure of my abilities all the time.

Just got my notification my Oats have shipped and now a new Simply episode!!!! My day is looking up! (Ps today is my dad's death anniversary, it's been 8 years but all feels like it happened today so please tell those on your lives you love them, give them a hug in person or just tell them you can't wait to hug them next time it's possible, and ask your parents, aunt's, uncle's, grandparents to tell you all the stories of their lives and record it because you'll cherish those stories when they are gone especially if you're loved one dies unexpectedly and traumatically like my dad and I never got the chance to do that because we never thought we wouldn't have the time. Love to you all 🤗💞)
Hi there, I just wanted to say I saw your comment and feel your pain and the love you had! My husband’s dad passed around this time 4 years ago. He had a heart attack so it was extremely sudden. We just finally got his urn (sans ashes - his brother scattered those) and it has oddly given us some comfort. I hope you can remember the good times and not the hard times and keep his memory alive.

@@RistrettoReader My mom has scattered my dad's ashes and had offered to give me the urn the next time we see each other, I hope it it brings comfort like your husband has comfort with his dad's urn sans ashes. My husband and I have furchildren instead of actual children and our very first one (Crash, a German Shepherd) died Thanksgiving day 2016 from bladder cancer which apparently is very rare in dogs and then January 2019 my "baby" (Pickles, a tortoise shell cat, the youngest of the four total furchildren) died from stomach cancer with complications of pancreatitis and I have them both cremated and in urns with Crash's paw print on the front and Pickles nose print on the front and they are on my mantle so I see them constantly and they bring me so much comfort. I can't handle looking at photos or videos at all of my dad or Crash or Pickles but the urns are different for some reason so I'm hopeful my dad's will do the same. Interesting salt in the wound tidbit- my parents adopted Pickles (they called her Kitty) but she didn't like traveling in the RV like the other cat and just didn't really bond with anyone so they were struggling with what you do. Well I wasn't aware of this at all and just casually updating them in their "grandchildren" and that my husband and I were looking to add another cat to the family, the Christmas before he died he said that Kitty/Pickles needs to be with me and he placed her in my arms and she melted like butter, he died 6 weeks later. She and I had only 6 years together and while she loved my husband and developed a huge personality, she was my baby that snuggled with me. Her death was like losing a part of my dad all over again. So I mourn really hard on today for all the deaths allowing myself a day to be sad and angry then my dad's birthday is next week on the 18th so that's when I get/bake a delicious cake to enjoy after eating a delicious meal of his favorite foods, watch his favorite shows, and celebrate him. Grief is weird, no right or wrong way and I only have the experience of my dad and furchildren dying that were close to me so I'm not very experienced but damn it changed my life at 26 years old losing him. Love to you and your husband, tell him I'm sorry he's in the Dead Dad Club, we don't hold meetings anymore but maybe we'll bring merch back 😉 (humor is important 😉😉💜)

The fight about the tacos I agree with Cristine. Even if I go through a drive thru I pull off to an empty parking spot at the place and check that everything I ordered is there. I've worked at food places and I understand that when you're working in a fast pace environment mistakes happen.

It’s been really challenging to do university work from home, as Ben said it’s hard to distinguish between ‘this is my chill space’ and ‘I need to work’ space
The advice I was given years ago when I first got a territory and was therefore working out of a home office was to keep work in a separate space. That space is the office and when I'm out, I'm out and living my own life. When I wasn't traveling, of course.
I know for a college student the cost of that is an issue. But it's a mental discipline - close the door and walk away.

Currently listening to your back catalogue while packing to move after a three year journey. You’re not only keeping me sane but every so often I stop and think to myself how much I respect you both, you’re mature advocates and strong in the way you choose to behave.
Kendall Rae is my favorite true crime youtuber. She does give her opinion on things but she tries to give an unbiased perspective on the crime. She also covers a lot of unsolved cases where she raises money for the families and brings awareness to the cases.

Two weeks is the standard quarantine for an infected person, but as long as there are unidentified infectious people around, everyone needs to hide from the dangers of getting infected or unknowingly infecting others.

Stephanie Harlowe is another awesome true crime RUclipsr. She does intense deep dives into different cases. Like, multiple hour long parts.
I really really love your podcasts, sometimes when I don't have much time I'll watch the shorter clips about certain topics that interest me and other times like today when I have lots of free time I like to listen to your podcast while I do other things like chores around my house or when I'm painting my nails or cooking. I really love the different variety of topics you guys cover, the quality of your podcast and the fact that I can also look at your faces and see your expressions while talking. About Cristine not wanting to go on vacation just to go back and having to do a week-load of work in a day. I totally get it. I work as a copywriter and have a certain amount of texts to do in a month for my clients. Even if I plan for a vacation, I have to do those texts in advance or after I go back, because there are certain things we cannot allocate to other people. When you work in some areas (e.g. a shop) and there are people who can split your workload so that the shop doesn't suffer, you can take a break and nothing will happen. I feel like not everyone (even in my close circle or at work) understand that fact

Well, I guess money can be a strain on a relationship if you *don't* have it, so that probably explains it. Financial worries just grind you down.
Right? I don’t want to assume but they seem to have been financially responsible while together so less financial stress and less arguments. 🙂
@@StephanieP3 Well, I wouldn't say it's necessarily an issue of financial responsibility (although irresponsibility definitely has more impact when you don't have much).
It's more that you're constantly tense when you have these financial worries, because they wear you down so much.
It's really sad. My boyfriend and me argued way more in these times, but we kept together like always and now we made it through.
Anyway, I don't say any of this just to be negative, I just think it's valuable to mirror to Ben and Cristine when they might be out of touch. But they mostly put effort in to remember not everyone has it as good as they do.
@@riotgrrrl8807 all very true, I agree. And that’s what I mean not just responsible but it does seem like they have been financially at peace most times? So for others who don’t have much money or struggle with it may have more arguments about it.

The only crime pod I listen to is Brief Case! I love that historical cases are brought up and as I like you are concerned about how the family of the victims would perceive podcasts about their lost loved ones it feels better to listen to stories about people who are long gone. The narrator does a lot of research and has a lovely voice as well.

In my experience, the work doesn't pause (or get reallocated) with a "normal" job when you go on vacation either :(
If it's a traditional factory job, they usually schedule production to make fewer products when more people are on vacation, some factories even shut down completely for the scheduled vacation weeks, which tend to be the same statewide.
In my experience, I would just arrive to a stack of files on my desk. But then again I had a very crappy employer.

Explore With Us is a great channel that discusses True Crime cases! The narrators seem to be purposely more monotone about the stories, but still interesting. It doesn't seem to be super biased, I really enjoy it.

Seriously, I would LOVE for Ben and Cristine to do a true crime podcast or at least an episode of it here. I think their perspectives as crime statistics analysts and people with backgrounds on criminal psychology would be so fascinating and refreshing.
I watch JSC criminal psychology too! Im a psych major and its so fascinating. My favorite one is about Casey Anthony. It was chilling to watch her interviews and I found the psychology and raw footage more frightening than a sensationalized version of the story.

I want to say, I remember when you weren't going to post every Saturday and how sad I was going to be not seeing you each Saturday. But I have to say, I love the podcasts so much more. I have grown as person since the first time I started watching you back in 2016, and i like the intelligent talk about what ever subject even if its silly too! You are a great inspiration and in 10 years if you somehow fade away, I'll still remember all these moments I have had watching you.
