I love Dream's character development in this story. It's really something of a redemption arc for him, especially when we're shown so many small moments that hint to how cruel and arrogant he was prior to his imprisonment, no better (and possibly even worse) than Desire. While I'd hesitate to call him "Good", he's definitely learned to be more compassionate, humble, and understanding.
I wouldn’t say he’s a complete dick more like someone who spent 4 billions years doing his job, especially when he failed to do his job once before causing a whole universe to die
It is also believable. Just because a person learns that they were a shit person doesn't mean they would or even could flip completely around overnight. You have to space it out and change at a level that can be maintained or you will burn out and revert.
Have you read the comics? If not I really recommend them and you hit the nail on the head, it's a recurring joke in the comics with Dream denying he is anything like Desire and the characters just rolling their eyes and saying "if you say so"
Maybe simply kindness. She saw how dreadful Jed's situation was and saw a little kid coping as a superhero in his only safe place: his dreams. So instead of frightening him to teach a lesson about fears, she wanted to inspire him by creating silly enemies for he to fight and win. Plus, she knew exactly the perfect form to appear as a dream: his mother.
Without nightmares we wouldn’t learn how to face our fears. We wouldn’t learn how to be bold and brave. I get the Gault hate being a nightmare because she must have felt that everyone hate her or despised her because she’s a nightmare. She must have felt depressed for so long and being in Jed Walkers dream, she saw the beauty and wonders of what people can do in their dreams. I’m Happy that Dream gave Gault a second chance and make her be a beautiful inspirational dream. Plus, I love how he kept her old appearance but just added wings. It’s perfect because I thought she’s beautiful when they first mention her.
FYI Gault’s original purpose as a nightmare was to shapeshift. She filled the role of making the dreamer uncomfortable at encountering someone familiar but acting like a different person. One might imagine to make people confront that others have sides we don’t see. It’s easy to guess she kept visiting Jed because none of the adults around him were acting as he expected they should, being parents and guardians. But Gault couldn’t take seeing Jed tortured and used her natural powers in the Dreaming to create a world that defied his expectations on the other direction. It feels as if her role as a dream would be to provide people with different but better ways to see others and themselves.
As human beings, our nightmares are fueled by fear, doubt and insecurities but little do our nightmares know is our humanistic ability to adapt, grow and change. Our fears can strengthen us, repair us and rebuild us. We can learn from our fears and become a better version of ourselves to dream a better, brighter hope for a beautiful tomorrow. Dream big and dream wide all of you. Goodnight.
I like to think there's a certain symbolism to Gault's transformation from nightmare into dream. Sometimes, especially as we grow older, the things that once frightened us can one day inspire us and turn into something beautiful and wondrous to behold
Really love this change from the comics. The way I had the biggest smile on my face when I saw Gault as she always wanted to be and seeing the joy on her face. May she inspire millions of dreams
Gault’s actress captured SO much joy in her facial expressions in just a few short seconds, that’s some of the best acting I’ve seen in a long time - and the number of times I’ve had to say that about a performance is Sandman is getting very large!
I thought Gault's character would have served more purpose if Jed's foster life had been as horrible as it was in the novels, and if she was made to reveal or show more of a nightmarish quality on the show, but after all of the terrible things that happened, her remaking was a truly welcome sight
Yeah, in the comic, he's locked in the basement and beaten up. His dreams are so easy to control by Brute and Glob because he wants to stay in the Dreaming (or Brute and Glob's land of adventure) because anywhere is better than the basement.

In this scene I thought Niel would incorporate a recent, new nightmare, based off recent nightmares like slanderman or siren-head. That would've been neat.
would you rather have a nightmare that's evil and enjoys the suffering inflicted, or a nightmare that wants good things for you. making her a dream fixes nothing and is in fact egotistical.

I don't remember ever having good or bad dreams. When I feel sleepy close my eyes have the impression that a few minutes have passed open my eyes morning it's a new day I dream absolutely nothing.
I bawled at this. She so deserved her happy ending.
Does nobody notice the half-finished gargoyle in the background? ;)
This was truly great and appropriate ending for a just king like Sandman.
Gault struck such a cord with me despite hacking so little screen time. I was almost in tears when Morpheus remade her into a dream. She absolutely deserves the best. ❤️
In this scene I thought Niel would incorporate a recent, new nightmare, based off recent nightmares like slanderman or siren-head. That would've been neat.
Dude I'm late to the party but what a fuxking show!!!!
Gault is really beautiful now well was always beautiful just now happiness is apart of her.
Netflix simply MUST make a sason 2
Was renewed this week.
Gault does look gorgeous in that form.
would you rather have a nightmare that's evil and enjoys the suffering inflicted, or a nightmare that wants good things for you.
making her a dream fixes nothing and is in fact egotistical.
Lets hope that helps for lucienne never turning against Morpheus I guess
This show is off the wall weird but, at the same time it’s pretty dope 😯
Then after this is Hell planning a war against the divine
This is by far the best series of Netflix
You couldn't be more right. It´s a shame that have chances to be cancelled in season 2, like MAJORITY of netflix shows. This company deserves to be buyed by a big company, like mycrosoft, because have potential their shows.
I hope they bring Gregory back as well
Waitin for S2...❤️❤️
Was renewed in november.
Felt devastated when Gault was banished, but so glad we have a happy ending for her.
Imagine Fate The Winx with this wings
What if the new nightmares instead of frightening and terrifying people they give people lessons on what not to do in their daily lives or show them the repercussions of some choices if they spiral down the wrong path….like preventing people from becoming bad people
