Thank you Pastor John for that wonderfully clear perspective of the Covid-19 situation. Our church in Singapore has suspended weekend services and all Cell Group meetings for the time being. Especially since we’ve had 2 clusters of infections that were linked to churches here. Services are now broadcast online and some Cell Groups are learning to use conference apps to meet for prayer and fellowship. The upside is that we are learning non-traditional ways to meet as a body of Christ. There have also been reports of people who have not been attending church, tuning in to these broadcasts and reconnecting with the church community once again. So..... despite this outbreak, I believe that Romans 8:28 (all things work for good to those who love God) is working it’s way into our lives. Glory be to God!
Its been a while since the last time I listened to pastor John Piper, I was very distracted the past couple of months and felt a little bit lost in life but today its just so refreshing to hear from one of my favorite pastors. Always biblical and always giving us good theology.
Not only the coronavirus, but everytime we feel worry or anxious about any kind of dissease, we must remember this we have just heard from Pastor John AND that am sure you've already read in the Bible... As Chinese, I never expected my centralization gov would change its "belief". Maybe all I hope is it has some fear of God. Sometimes I wish God would shock me on that. But that will definitely cause a lot of turbulence in society... However, God never promised he will turn the earth to the heaven! There are difficulties but once we pass through fiery ordeal, our faith will be like gold tempered by fire... I would rather fight in a place of trial than wallow in a place of feasting and revelry... I pray that Im filled with the faith towards God and have no fear of death.

What an excellent encouraging response to this and all other tragedies of this life. We must always be reminded that this world is not our home. God says "all souls are mine". Some are vessels of honor and dishonor. We must always live as if we could leave this life at anytime. Jesus said "He comes as a thief in the night. We are Christians and loved dearly by Him, and we are not afraid. We build our hopes on things eternal. Come what may we are ready for His appointment. If our love one's die and they are in Him we believe we will see them and be with them forever. Love you all. Be encouraged.

I’m in Zhanjiagang, China. The situation is not too bad in my city; we don’t have a lot of reported cases. When I prayed about the virus I got Jeremiah 5 and 6. I then shared this with my boss who is a Buddhist. It was Saturday when I shared this with her ( school was supposed to resume the following Monday on the basis that there were no reported cases ) and we had zero reported cases at that time. She did not repent and that same day we got one reported case which got published on Sunday. This then forced schools and most companies to close indefinitely.

When God calls us home, it doesn't matter how we go. Jesus repeated many times "do not fear". But the more you cling to things in this world, the more you will fear because where your treasure is, your heart will be also. Jesus is coming back soon !!! Yes Pastor John! The enemy will try anything to get us to turn from our faith including sickness. Belief that Christians won't suffer is dangerous, or that suffering is always a punishment as it means if we love God for "what we can get", we're more likely to abandon him at testing. We can also condemn innocent people as Job's friends condemned him. The enemy will also make Christians look bad. Christians can use common sense and protect themselves but we have PRAYER! We should pray for the world and its repentance and healing and have faith that God is in control.

Jose Sanchez stop it with these wrong Bible interpretations for the time. Rev 18:4 refers to the time after tribulation and Gods sends his plagues on earth. This coronavirus could get so bad that world economies can crash. People, diseased, sick and poor will want a solution at that time. Antichrist will come and offer that solution. Many people will then be deceived be of this. Tribulation will start on those true believers not willing to worship the Antichrist who offered the world the solution.

Just as the judgement of God upon Pharoh in the Exodus of Egypt made him more callous and mean to the Israelites- it is no surprise that the the government of China would do that to the Christians living there. But we have a God who is in control, His judgements are just and true, but His mercy and grace are always available. May these kind of people be humbled, come to see the trugh, and repent. I live near Sydney, Australia where every day we are getting advice from our Health leaders. As of today, 3 March schools, churches, football games, shopping centres are all open as far as I know. I was in Sydney today and very few people were wearing masks in the tourist precinct. Advice is updated every day. One Health leader said he thinks Coronavirus will peak in 3 to 6 months, just like our yearly flues peak in August, our coldest month. Today we were advised not to hug, kiss, or shake hands indiscriminately. Thank you Pastor Piper for your ideas and scriptural examples. I am wanting to know how to tackle the subject of repentance with backslidden family members. So far I am just praying for the Holy Spirit to convict them. Am I being cowardly by not challenging them when they are so touchy about religion?
Good question! I struggle with this! I constantly ask for the Lord's guidance on it. I remind myself it's His will and He knows those people better than I ever could, and He knows me better than I know myself. So I'm just going to be myself and I hope the Lord will use me in whatever way He sees fit. I love how people would ask Jesus a question and instead of answering directly He'd come at it seemingly sideways but would somehow get right to the heart of the matter, or go somewhere completely unexpected! I find if i try to tell people directly i put them off. It's just not my Gift. I just pray at the moment God is using me in ways I'm not even aware of! I hope that made sense!!! Yes I do a lit of praying for the Holy Spirit to convict my loved ones too.
Honestly, i'm scared about this... First, its because i'm not sure my repentance and faith is complete... I fear of a judgment day that bring me into a goat, not a sheep Second, i'm worried about my family... If it said i have a worldly treasure, maybe it is my family... I cannot watch my family get suffering Third, some of my family member hasn't know and put faith on The Lord... I'm really worry about their salvation God, oh my God... I really need your mercy and light... To lighten every dark corner in my life and our life... I'm not sure i'm ready for this... The Spirit of God, the Ten Commandments, used to be everywhere across America, not any more. Few homes will contain the precious Word of God. Our schools, our court houses and public property have mostly removed the Commandments. God's Word will preserve us if we apply them once again across our Country. Each of us, on our property, our loved ones, on our all. He never left us, we left Him. Surround your world in Light. We are to serve Him with all that we are, heart, mind and soul. Are you one of His? When you are powerless, power up IN Jesus. He is still with us, will we let them remove Him even from our families? May God go with us all in accordance with His law, His love. We have had many many viruses over the years. Flu kills approx 750000 every year. There is no panic in this. It is sad of course but it is not even a particularly nasty virus in comparison. Peace and step closer everyone to hear God and receive the Spirits wisdom and perspective in this and all things.
@@kyliegunn7193 The virus itself is not really the issue. It's the disruption in the supply chain coupled with the coming food shortages and economic collapse. These things will bring big changes to the way the world operates. The One-World system is rising, and it's simply using COVID-19 as a cover story.
that 1st horseman only comes after the antichrist is revealed and a peace treaty is strengthened/enforced with Israel...we're not quite there yet...i believe that this is just a shadow of what is to come and a mercy call from God to repent while there is still time...many open doors to the gospel through this

Thank you Pastor John for that wonderfully clear perspective of the Covid-19 situation. Our church in Singapore has suspended weekend services and all Cell Group meetings for the time being. Especially since we’ve had 2 clusters of infections that were linked to churches here. Services are now broadcast online and some Cell Groups are learning to use conference apps to meet for prayer and fellowship. The upside is that we are learning non-traditional ways to meet as a body of Christ. There have also been reports of people who have not been attending church, tuning in to these broadcasts and reconnecting with the church community once again. So..... despite this outbreak, I believe that Romans 8:28 (all things work for good to those who love God) is working it’s way into our lives. Glory be to God!

As Chinese, I never expected my centralization gov would change its "belief". Maybe all I hope is it has some fear of God. Sometimes I wish God would shock me on that. But that will definitely cause a lot of turbulence in society... However, God never promised he will turn the earth to the heaven! There are difficulties but once we pass through fiery ordeal, our faith will be like gold tempered by fire... I’m in Zhanjiagang, China. The situation is not too bad in my city; we don’t have a lot of reported cases. When I prayed about the virus I got Jeremiah 5 and 6. I then shared this with my boss who is a Buddhist. It was Saturday when I shared this with her ( school was supposed to resume the following Monday on the basis that there were no reported cases ) and we had zero reported cases at that time. She did not repent and that same day we got one reported case which got published on Sunday. This then forced schools and most companies to close indefinitely.

Yes Pastor John! The enemy will try anything to get us to turn from our faith including sickness. Belief that Christians won't suffer is dangerous, or that suffering is always a punishment as it means if we love God for "what we can get", we're more likely to abandon him at testing. We can also condemn innocent people as Job's friends condemned him. The enemy will also make Christians look bad. Christians can use common sense and protect themselves but we have PRAYER! We should pray for the world and its repentance and healing and have faith that God is in control.

Jose Sanchez stop it with these wrong Bible interpretations for the time. Rev 18:4 refers to the time after tribulation and Gods sends his plagues on earth. This coronavirus could get so bad that world economies can crash. People, diseased, sick and poor will want a solution at that time. Antichrist will come and offer that solution. Many people will then be deceived be of this. Tribulation will start on those true believers not willing to worship the Antichrist who offered the world the solution.

I live near Sydney, Australia where every day we are getting advice from our Health leaders. As of today, 3 March schools, churches, football games, shopping centres are all open as far as I know. I was in Sydney today and very few people were wearing masks in the tourist precinct. Advice is updated every day. One Health leader said he thinks Coronavirus will peak in 3 to 6 months, just like our yearly flues peak in August, our coldest month. Today we were advised not to hug, kiss, or shake hands indiscriminately. Thank you Pastor Piper for your ideas and scriptural examples. I am wanting to know how to tackle the subject of repentance with backslidden family members. So far I am just praying for the Holy Spirit to convict them. Am I being cowardly by not challenging them when they are so touchy about religion?
Good question! I struggle with this! I constantly ask for the Lord's guidance on it. I remind myself it's His will and He knows those people better than I ever could, and He knows me better than I know myself. So I'm just going to be myself and I hope the Lord will use me in whatever way He sees fit. I love how people would ask Jesus a question and instead of answering directly He'd come at it seemingly sideways but would somehow get right to the heart of the matter, or go somewhere completely unexpected! I find if i try to tell people directly i put them off. It's just not my Gift. I just pray at the moment God is using me in ways I'm not even aware of! I hope that made sense!!! Yes I do a lit of praying for the Holy Spirit to convict my loved ones too.

We do not work for our salvation, Jesus died and saved the world. But we can work for our protection from the plagues, those coming to steal, kill, and destroy, from deception etc.. There is nothing wrong with works for we are judged on our works. Faith without works is dead. Why would Jesus tell us to pray for workers, if no work is to be done?
Build up the body of Christ by 'putting on' The Lord. Cling to, dwell in the law (Ten Commandments) and testimony (Sermon on the Mount). We know His voice.
His words are spirit and they are life. Hear Him. Prepare for your future and the life of your loved ones. As Paul tells us, "put on Jesus." Cling to, dwell in the Truth, in life. Learn of the armour of God and grow strong in our Lord Jesus Christ.
The Spirit of God, the Ten Commandments, used to be everywhere across America, not any more. Few homes will contain the precious Word of God. Our schools, our court houses and public property have mostly removed the Commandments. God's Word will preserve us if we apply them once again across our Country. Each of us, on our property, our loved ones, on our all. He never left us, we left Him. Surround your world in Light.
We are to serve Him with all that we are, heart, mind and soul. Are you one of His? When you are powerless, power up IN Jesus. He is still with us, will we let them remove Him even from our families? May God go with us all in accordance with His law, His love. Cling to the Truth, dwell in Him. Protect your family!!! He always shows us a way out of our troubles. Let's seek His wisdom in all our problems.

We have had many many viruses over the years. Flu kills approx 750000 every year. There is no panic in this. It is sad of course but it is not even a particularly nasty virus in comparison. Peace and step closer everyone to hear God and receive the Spirits wisdom and perspective in this and all things.
@@kyliegunn7193 The virus itself is not really the issue. It's the disruption in the supply chain coupled with the coming food shortages and economic collapse. These things will bring big changes to the way the world operates. The One-World system is rising, and it's simply using COVID-19 as a cover story.
that 1st horseman only comes after the antichrist is revealed and a peace treaty is strengthened/enforced with Israel...we're not quite there yet...i believe that this is just a shadow of what is to come and a mercy call from God to repent while there is still time...many open doors to the gospel through this

I live in Italy, in the region of Veneto. Nothing is going on here and still they close the schools and we can't attend the church (this is the 2nd week) I'm not scared of coronavirus , i'm scared how people can be manipulate and blocked to do their life without anything going on (at least in my region).
that's a blessing nothing is going on in your region...it could just be precautions to keep people safe and from things getting worse.
