She's not sorry because she truly feels guilty, she's sorry because she got caught.
Yeah, we know that saying by now. Retire it in the same garbage pile this b*tch of an excuse for an officer and a humanbeing should be thrown in.
Oh, so you can read her mind? Why did she resign then? If she felt she did nothing wrong, she wouldn't have resigned. I'm getting really tired of people posting this cliche comment every time on videos like this. That's a brand of cynicism that's just too extreme. Save it for when it's actually obvious that the person in question doesn't have true remorse, like when they "apologize" but continue to give excuses even in their apology, etc.

Employees who resign to avoid the consequences of disciplinary action may cause implications for employers. In this blog, we’ll provide insights and guidance for employers dealing with these unique challenges.
If an employee is midway through a disciplinary process and suspects that dismissal is imminent, they may feel that resigning is their only option to save face and maintain their reputation.
Whether it’s better to quit than be fired is open to debate. However, if reputation is the employee’s primary concern, leaving on their own terms allows them to frame their departure in a more positive light to a prospective employer.
But where does this leave employers? Do you have to accept the resignation? Do you abandon the disciplinary process or continue full steam ahead? Do you have to provide them with a reference?
Here’s what you need to know when an employee chooses resignation during a disciplinary procedure.
Can I refuse the employee's resignation?
It’s a common misconception that an employee’s notice of resignation isn’t valid unless it has been “accepted” by the employer. The truth is that whether you want to or not, you cannot reject someone’s resignation if they have provided you with the appropriate amount of notice.
Notice periods should be laid down in the employee’s contract of employment. If there is no such provision in the contract and the employee has been employed for one month or more, the legal minimum amount of notice they must give is one week.
The common law position is that an employee’s notice is effective as soon as it is given to the employer. From that point onward, it can’t be refused by the employer or withdrawn by the employee without the other’s agreement.
You can ask an employee to confirm their resignation writing; however, unless this is required under their contract of employment, there’s no legal requirement for notice of resignation to be given in a particular form, and no requirement for notice to be given in writing before it takes effect.
Should I push on with disciplinary?
Whether or not you should continue the disciplinary procedure will depend on whether the employee has resigned with notice or resigned with immediate effect.
If the employee gives notice of their resignation, you should continue the process. It may be that they’ve committed an act of minor misconduct which only results in a warning, in which case there will be no repercussions on the individual. However, if the disciplinary process determines that the employee has committed an act of gross misconduct, such as theft, physical violence, gross negligence or serious insubordination, they can be summarily dismissed (in other words, dismissed without notice). This will supersede their resignation, and the reason for the termination of the employment relationship will be deemed as dismissal for gross misconduct rather than resignation.
If the employee resigns with immediate effect, you are unlikely, in most circumstances, to need to continue the process. However, you should retain notes of the disciplinary procedure as this will help you to defend any subsequent claims made to an Employment Tribunal by evidencing the steps taken and demonstrating that you followed a fair procedure. In certain circumstances (for example, when there is a safeguarding issue in the care or education sectors), you may still need to reach a conclusion and can offer the option to the former employee to continue to be involved in the process.

She won't be flashing her Tampa Police Chief badge or handing out any business cards anymore.
@@davidwebb2411 😉
She needs to go. No special favors given to anyone in office. None
Hallelujah! Someone, finally taking responsibility for their actions. I applaud her for doing so and resigning. I was beginning to think those days were over
her husband looked so proud of her...
Officers have integrity and ethics. The countless videos would prove otherwise. That is why cops and government officials hate cameras and transparency.
You are so right.
Guaranteed the officers in the department already had no respect for her. You are as bad as her if you lump all officers together. Chiefs are political hires
GET THEM ABUSE OF POWER INDIVIDUALS..
She needed to go. Such a disgrace.
I think it was the “I’m hoping you’ll just let us go tonight” or the “if you ever need anything, call me…serious” comment bc officers do this frequently. Even family members of officers have cards to let people know they’re a civilian, but family of a law enforcement officer. I’m sure those cards are meant to allow the civilian to get some sort of privilege, courtesy, or discretion if they’re ever stopped or need help.
The cards are intended for an officer to extend courtesy...my friend had given me one but I never just flash or show it if I am pulled over...but kept it in my wallet where it was visible so when I open my wallet for my licenses the cop see it and ask about it...I have gotten out of tickets because of it....but I never just hand it to them if I am pulled over because some cops don't like that and some take it from you...
The cops don’t want you to know its a privilege the rich have for those that donate generously to the police. They get special sticker/label applied to to their license.
Got one from a retired cop of another state just for sealcoattin his driveway every other year. It's definitely a get out of jail free card.
Happens all the time. In California, look at the stickers in the lower left corner of the rear windows on vehicles. If you see a firefighter helmet, CALFire, CDF, or other badge type sticker, that's a "hands off" warning to LEO's. So are the expensive "1199" license plate frames that are given out by the CHP for a "donation." There's also a thing about putting a staple in one corner of your driver's license, so that when you hand it to the officer, the staple can be felt, signifying you are also a LEO. Officers who cite or arrest someone "special" or a family member of someone "special," can sometimes put their careers, not just their current job, at risk.
We need to investigate this also
Not promoting from within the department speaks volumes about the department's cops if the have to look outside of the rank and file.
I worked with the Gig Harbor Washington PD Chief when he was a Detective in DMPD in Washington. He got picked as PD Chief. For that small town. Remember the terrible shooting The Tacoma PD Chief SHOT his X wife in front of his kids and then turned the gun on himself. Got to talk with some of the Tacoma officers a Long time after this crazy selfish EGO driving PD Chief for Tacoma did this.. They said this guy was on such a trip. He got to be guild President, then got picked as Chief of Tacoma Washington PD. He was such a jerk. The Tacoma cops words NOT mine. Anyway what Im saying is can't these departments look within. Me saying the former Detective of Des Moines Washington had to investigate this shooting. And a terrible Mayor of Tacoma Washington PICKED this dirt bag as CHIEF. The PD in America never looks within who can LEAD a Department, or who is just going to be a YES boy or girl for City Leaders. We see the Results. It Doesn't matter if you do a national search. The end is always the same. Such terrible Leadership in PD Chiefs in today's world. There has to be ONE rank and FILE cop out there from within those departments that would make an outstanding PD Chief. They NEVER pick that person.
So many positions like police chief, school superintendent and city manager, are farmed out. Most of their "leadership skills" are based on their fund raising skills, through bond elections.
So what the mayor said was, they didn't hire her as chief because of her qualifications, or work record, but because she checked a few boxes
Some people just shouldn't be entrusted w "power".
These people can’t even take care of themselves! How the f’ can we expect them to look out for us?
Right
Imagine throwing your whole "career" away on the odd chance you may have had to face a small fine for a traffic ticket.
No one is above the law
The government institutions are above the law
Trumpet guy is. No jail time while democrats rage in excuses.
Hillary Clinton destroyed 33,000 subpoenaed emails, nada. Adam Schiff, perjury, nada. Joe Biden withholding military aid to Ukraine as a pressure tactic to force the firing of a prosecutor who was investigating Hunter Bidens' corrupt business dealings, ON CAMERA, nada. So yeah, some folks are above the law.
politicians are.
bidet potus guy is. no jail time for son pedo while democrats rage in excuses
A public servant who violates their oath of office should be given a prison sentence and have their Surety Bond revoked for life.
I have a friend who is a retired from TPD. She said Mary is nice person but she has a history of using her badge for getting favors. Ten years ago she did it to try to get out of a DUI and got suspended because of it. Chief Castor wanted a woman to fill the vacancy she created when she became mayor. I I've had interactions with Castor when she was with the police force. She was very professional.
Wow good job Tampa. Everyone should have a convicted DUI OR PUBLIC DRUNK FOR POLICE CHIEF. JEEZ
@@Dboyquicks10 Mary O'Connor was not the chief when she got stopped. Mayor Castor had som opposition to the appointment but I guess she had friends in high places. Mary O'Connor was evidently a poor choice.
Isn't a DUI a felony? If it is, how the heck could she retain her job And later be selected as police chief.

Professional...🤔......Nahh
The people are sick and tired of those in uniform acting above the law.
In other words, she’s going to let the stink die down before pursuing a police job in a neighboring jurisdiction.
I'm glad she was held accountable. Her resignation letter was ridiculous though.
ridiculous I agree, allowed to resign. she will just go to another police dept and end up doing something just as ridiculous or worse
@@roblewis570 as an Officer yes maybe, but no Chief can do that. it just wouldnt happen
I noticed that she referenced “throughout OUR city” but she only worked here and rented a token condo here (in my building). I never once saw her though. She must have truly resided in the same place she was pulled over, Oldsmar. Imagine another school shooting and the police chief needs 40 minutes to get there.
Of course nobody never want to accept Accountability or Responsibility.
I don't know how in the hell this mayor thought she was a good choice because just looking at her it's pretty obvious she was probably what we call in the vernacular a bad cop .
You can usually tell really good cops and this person here who I will not call a lady definitely does not have it no way ... she's dirty and I hope the feds investigate each and every complaint about her over the years
Don't understand how this happen so fast over a golf cart. Someone wants that job
Get rid of the mayor as well. These are easy decisions.
She's only sorry because she was forced to be sorry. This kind of crap is completely out of control. Especially considering how they're supposed to be held to higher standards meanwhile a kid working at Taco bell part time has more accountability..
She thought her female privilege of being a quota police chief would get her off.
"You ever need anything call me. Serious."
When she was a rookie she was arrested for battering an officer and the mayor thought that she would make a good choice for police chief?
Just take the ticket on your gold cart. jeezz...
It is social media in these times.
In other times this incident would not have been known.
It would have been kept quiet by the mayor and city manager.
They have the power to control what punishment or the chief.
You’re right! This is nothing new and has gone on for ages! I’m wondering if his footage got audited or something bc officers do this frequently.
And badge cameras make them more accountable.
Body cameras
Nasty! Put her in jail
"You can never tell what decision someone will make down the road"- unless they are already found guilty of committing battery on a fellow officer.
This golf cart incident says everything we need to know about this woman's character.
Yup she looked like your average normal drunk in a golf cart..she sounded wasted..
Tampa needs a national search for a new MAYOR!
Tampa needs voters who don’t elect corrupt Socialists like scumbag Castor
It appears that the mayor is incompetent also
Her poor judgment didn't help at all they wouldn't have to go through this if they only picked a cop with a clean record
@@drewski1535 you mean a cop who had desk duty their whole career because that’s the only way you gonna have zero complaints as an officer
To me, the mayor LOOKS incompetent not appears.
She thinks she’s doing good by helping fellow women…. Feminists….smh
Of course there female
Well hopefully she'll get plates on that golf cart now.
Wow! What a shameful thing to do.
Problem still, the good ole boy system is still alive and well. 😥Thank you to the officer/'s that brought this to light.
@@deslisnortum1159 ....Mark Meadows was never indicted for voter fraud after registering to vote 3 time!! But a non politician was given 5 years for filling in a provisional ballot that was never counted!! She not part of he good ol' boys club!!

You are not going to change that ever!! It’s etch in stones as one nation under GOD. Lol!
Yeah after serving in Law Enforcement for over 12+ years as a Officer in Florida , the good ole boy system is alive and well. I never was in that good ole boy system. Seen, at the time, how some Officers who would basically get away with everything, some of it was in the Command staff. It was disgusting and a dishonor to everyone who wore a badge and pledged a Oath. I seen where Domestic Battery charges were buried, profiling, one Officers wives was charged with felony check fraud and two Officers covered it up. One Officer was married to a woman of a different race and was left notes on his patrol vehicle pertaining to " n****r lover, is it pink on the inside". One supervisor actually was caught on digital recording calling this same Officer marrying a "n****r, twice on recording. Was he fired or terminated? No. No he got suspended for 30 days with no pay and kept his rank. I can go on with what I saw, but what's the point. The Chief sunk her own career..she should have just kept her mouth shut. The Deputy did his job and would have probably just issued a warning anyway. Loose lips sink ships.
@@davidjames7382 , It is Mans very own fault kind of like friends helping friends then one decide to go bad next thing you’re going bad with him. Lol! One thing lead to another all the sudden it’s you who is the evil one.
Damn, if being police chief can't get you out of a minor incident, what's the point?
🤣
Right, I'm sure she considered being above the law a benefit of her position.
Especially when she wasn't the operator of the vehicle..
She's got TO GO!!!!
