      Amen. I really need to stop and never drink again. When I have been sober at times it was easy. What is also easy is to start again. It's almost as if you do it unconsciously. I have three daughters and my youngest is my very best friend. I want to live as long as I can for her.

    • @thomaspage2773
      @thomaspage2773 Год назад

      @@sheriwarnick4370 I know exactly, what you mean. Getting sober is easy, after the first week, but it's staying of it. Is easier said than done. Especially if you enjoyed it, or drank for years. As me myself, I'm 48 and been drinking, for over 30 years. It's always been a big social part, of my life. I've gone of it, few times over the years. Longest I stayed sober was for 20 months, and I'm not gonna lie to you. Half of the time, I struggled with my soberity. I got bored and frustrated, especially when you hear other friends etc . Having a good time, with a few drinks and I can't. Going out was a nightmare, cos I was surrounded. By everyone drinking and me, with a coke or pint of water. So one day, when things got on top of me. I relapsed and took a drink, now thinking I'd go back to square one again. Waking up next day, craving for it. Thankfully wasn't the case, and I'm so fortunate. Now that I can do it , more in moderation. So I'm happier , having a few drinks 1 or 2 days a week. Cos being sober , wasn't truly for me, half the time. It left me miserable and angry, that's fine if you can't stand alcohol and. Want it out of your life for good. Then living life in total soberity, is fantastic and for some people. Who want that then, that's brilliant more power to you. I wish them all the best, but for me. I now know that that's, not the choice or life for me, so I've come to a compromise. Having a few drinks, in moderation and not over doing it works for me. So I wish you, all the best, and on your journey. On whichever option you choose, cos at end of the day. You have to do , what's right for you and, what makes you happy.

      @@vegansaxon3962 Still sober and for the better. I have already stopped counting the days of sobriety because I know I'll never go back. It's once I realized it was the alcohol that was complicating my emotional self-regulation, it became clear. In my case, the alcohol just fed on negative emotions and tried to supplement them with false positive emotions . We all must take our own journey to self-acceptance and you will know when you are ready. Read Allen Carr and The Pitcher Plant. And for me, Brene Brown is a great inspiration. Read her collected works, particularly about vulnerability, shame, and courage. "The dark does not destroy the light; it defines it. It’s our fear of the dark that casts our joy into the shadows."

    Going for my first New Year's Eve and New Year's with zero drinks... I know I started drinking a lot in 2007 when I met my ex who's also a heavy drinker. She kinda made me an Alcoholic, but as of you state a lot, it was my choice, I took the drinks and put it in my mouth thousands times the last 12 year's. So, I don't blame her, it's me in the end. I noticed how slow people were at work on the 23rd and since the Holiday's started. It made me realize they were obviously drinking and that's me for the last 7 year's not just the Holiday's. So it made me kinda upset. Hopefully my next message will be me 1+ month sober for the first time maybe in 12+ year's. I never drank till the age of 27, I wonder how I did it? What kept me busy? So, I'm trying to do those things as my new addiction, nothing armful. I already have my soft drink and a sweet treat for tomorrow New Year's Eve. Thanks for all and Happy Holidays and Happy New Year to you and all the people in here.

I have gizzled almost a bottle of Turkey.. Wild that is.. but feel shamed now. Kids are in bed that's when I drink more.
    I have ask my kids for their saving tho payed back. Feel ashamed... Had a dad fighting and fought the drink 10 years now.. I don't want to be the the same.
    Why drink because Iam single mumma, lonely but have my two beautiful bairns.
    The drink came to substitute drugs I have stopped.

The group has at least 100 million members, globally. The name of the group is ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS. I have had an extraordinary life since June 1989. Never forget what led you to the desperation of your life. Desperation is truly a priceless divine gift. FYI there have been hundreds, thousands of recovery groups that have come and gone in the past 200yrs. FACT no recovery group has remained through 87 years of anonymous service like AA The 1st alcohol recovery group in the United States was named "The Washingtonians. During our 1st presidential term. Alcohol was the 1st taxed item, to pay for the revolutionary War. Our freedom from England. Congratulations for making it to the other side. Most vacations I've ever taken involved vast amounts of alcohol and guess what I cant remember any of the details of the vacation. That was my life John. Alcohol becomes a part of every time in your life that's worth remembering. Memories become thin on the ground, - you can remember vague snippets, but any one time could really be any other... it all becomes an alcohol fuelled mess. The first vacation I had without alcohol was my best, just because I finally got to relive it once I got home - which is part of the fun - and I'm still reliving it many years later :) Best thing you could do for yourself is stop the poison - then figure it out as you go.

    Personally I did a pros and cons list for pouring addictive poison into my body - read up about alcohol and other drugs and decided I never actually planned on being a piss wreck however somehow that had happened because I was just drifting along in life without a purpose.
    Once I quit - which I found surprisingly difficult (I never considered myself addicted - until I actually attempted to stop) I found achieving my goals / ambitions way way easier - also anxiety & depression subsided (turns out this is a by product of alcohol - which I never actually knew) and life was /is a much happier place contrary to popular belief - life is way better without grog.
