The boy a 2:03, fanning himself with a piece of paper is my dearly-departed friend Jim made-over. Jim had short blonde hair, but that is him. Same stupid smile. He would've loved this song and video. I sure do miss my friend. Besides all that, this is an awesome song by a truly unique band.
The Darkness are a great band and have the coolest looking Bass player. I follow Justin Hawkins rides again here on RUclips and he's well worth a watch in my opinion, all the best, 👍👍👍👊✌️.

I love that little reference to the riff from Daytripper! I definitely didn't notice it the first time around! To be frank, I think I was just a bit overhyped for this album when it was first released and subsequently a bit disappointed and probably didn't pay close enough attention. When I was subsequently re-impressed by Last of Our Kind, I decided to re-check out Hot Cakes and I've developed a re-appreciation for the songs on this album. Again, though, that little reference is such a neat subtle highlight for me!
serious question: used to love these guys circa 2004. why is this song not bigger for them? was this their lowest popularity point? i ask because it's great.

The song had an official video on the Rhino youtube channel, their publisher. Don’t know why it got deleted. It had a couple million views.
They were massive in 2004. Since their reunion in 2009 or whenever, they didn’t really achieve the level of mainstream rock success that they wanted.
That being said, I really thoroughly enjoy the hot cakes album, more than the 2 new ones.
This was a comeback album for them after a big hiatus. It's probably my fav by them but i don't think it was marketed very well who knows. A lot of people underestimate how important it is to market and get your music out there. There are so many bands and songs that never get huge because they just never got the right publicity.
This was never officially released! Not sure why. This was video was dropped unofficially a while after the album campaign

Ethan Sloan there used to be an official upload. Suddenly one day it was gone about 6 months ago. No idea why. There was a sequel to the bear storyline video also that was deleted. SMH
