Word. When I saw him drop his sword into the ground and say bankai, I’m like yea that was prolly the coolest way to initiate a move I’ve ever seen. Just drop your sword cause you don’t need it, bout to mess everyone up anyway lol. Love his zanpakuto still, such a simple premise but man it’s so useful for any situation. One on one, one on a group, group on group, such a useful power with multiple modes of bankai at that.
My two favorite characters are Byakuya and kenpachi two opposites well written characters. One comes from nobility and the other comes from the outskirts of slums and they both stand to uphold soul society law.
I like how in the manga Rukia tells Ichigo that Byakuya says, "let that little punk run around Hueco Mundo for awhile, and see how they like it" I laughed so hard.
I swear bleach has some of the best filler content. Then you look at Naruto and their trash fillers and it makes you appreciate the good ones like the zanpakuto rebellion arc
@@darknesswave100 Idk that naruto filler when they try to get Kakashi's mask off was pretty funny but I do think bleach has some of the best filler in anime its just placed weirdly
It really showed his development as a character seeing as how not that long ago he was fine with rukia getting killed cause she broke a law. With this he pulled a 180 and is like yeah you pointed your sword at my sister in law? That was your last mistake
@@darknesswave100 Technically, he wasn't fine - he was torn AF between two conflicting oaths. Under all of that societal and noble expectation, I think that a tiny bit of Byakuya saw Ichigo's tearing through Soul Society to save Rukia as an absolute blessing in disguise.
@@Aurora-313 I could feel that man wanting to lose that fight with ichigo the entire time, but wanting ichigo to first prove his worth and show that he could truly save Rukia. He was definitely torn, wanting to make both sides of the coin happy with his actions. I love Byakuya's story :')
Every moment with Byakuya was my favorite... He Had The Best Character Development in Bleach ... Also has one of my favorite zanpaktou.... Rather Byakuya died or didn’t it doesn’t mess up his character
Tsukishima loves breaking status quo Byakuya hates status quo being broken Tsukishima slowly taking away Ichigo's respectable qualities Byakuya slowly respecting Ichigo more and more
I laughed at that cause that's definitely something he would say. Like these cheap rags dont cut it for me I can find something better easily dont think I cant lol
I think another moment for Byakuya -- not related to Rukia, Renji or Ichigo (at least, not directly) -- is his comradery with Hitsugaya when fighting the Sternritter Gerard Valkyrie. They're working together well, get some cracks at each other, Byakuya expresses concern over Hitsugaya's Bankai expiring (before we get Adult Toshiro) and later helps him when Toshiro's at his limits, Toshiro in turn teases him a little when he sends Rukia and Renji on their way. Etc etc. I just think its an underrated duo.
Fun Fact: When Byakuya first appears in the world of the living with Renji to retrieve Rukia... he doesn't have on his White Captain's Haori... At that stage of the story Kubo hadn't thought of the 13 captains of the Gotei 13 yet.
Byakuya's greatest development arrived with his near death experience in the TYBW, it was certainly humbling. As strange as it sounds I'd say the revelations that he was following false orders courtesy of Aizen's manipulations is what lead to his realization of how wrong he was in his zealous drive to follow the laws when they are easily subverted. His protecting Rukia from then on means he had quite the whirlwind inner change.
Great content; Byakuya Kuchiki is the character that made me love bleach especially his scene with Zamari when he called Rukia his pride it shows the characters growth and the need to protect........... Wish we could have seen some rebellion of Byakuya when he insisted on marrying Isana
I always thought Byakuya was cold toward Rukia in the SS arc because looking at her was too much like looking at Hisana and it hurt to have that constant reminder that his wife is gone, and he couldnt save her. But when Ichigo reminded him that Rukia is his sister, he started to see her more as someone to care for and protect, rather than just a reminder of his grief.
All the captains got really good development to me, other than Soi Fon, but Bykauka’s story got tied up nicely. One of the very few shinigami to have multiple modes of bankai: rose, Shunsui, Yama and Byakuya. From the staunch loyalist to compassionate realist, learning to trust his heart and his friends. Ichigo changed him the most and I like how he made it a point to thank Ichigo for all he did for Rukia, himself and soul society. The fact that this proud noble can beg Ichigo to save his home is such a 180 from the utter contempt he had for Ichigo in the Soul Society arc. I agree, if he died against Az it would’ve been very impactful but I love the dude so I’m cool with him being alive. We all know how hard it is to actually kill a shinigami that’s top 3 seats in their squad. Byakuya did end up being right about Ichigo’s bankai though, it wasn’t bankai so in a way he was correct and not just being arrogant that time.
I think Soul Society Byakuya seems out of character because he is a man who's world is tearing itself apart. He has never had to question his stance on Justice and Properness before, his life has followed its proper path for centuries. And suddenly it is placed in direct competition with the other primary pillars of his life, his duty as a brother and Patriarch to protect his sister at all costs and his duty as a man to protect what he loves. He is desperate and his world is falling apart. A person pushed to those extremities of emotional distress tends to behave like an almost cartoonishly unpleasant version of themselves.
Rewatching right now in Soul Society Arc and I forgot how much I hated him during that whole arc. Thoughout all of Soul Society he is shown to be an absolutely TERRIBLE leader and an even worse captain. He has no respect for his subordinates, treats them like dirt, and lives in his own little world convinced that what he is doing is right whilst everyone around is screaming at him to wake up. Byakuya's come a really long way
@@golfer435 Its a defence mechanism against everything that he has always known and that has always been simple, becoming unfamiliar, confusing and complex. Upholding any one of his duties, causes him to fail to uphold another. So he ends up trapped in a loop of reactive inaction. Which is horribly compounded by Ichigo. A human infant, who invalidates centuries of dogged training in a matter of weeks. While also getting to do everything that Byakuya wishes to do, but cannot allow himself to. Its a truly awful position. All of his certainty gone. Wracked by indecision and crossed purposes. Betrayed by his beloved childhood teacher and his erstwhile Lieutenant. His ego consistently crushed into the dirt by a child. In coming back from all that, he grows more than anyone in the series as far as I can tell.
byakuya vs zommari was a PHENOMENAL fight, definitely one of my favourites!!! i think its a great example of the different between captain strength and lower
This video made me want a deep dive into Ichigo and Rukia's relationship. Not in the shipper way, but rather analysis the series main relationship, as you clearly can look deep into character relationships and their effect on each character
I like them too, but odds were kind of against them despite all the symbolism Kubo was building around them. When you look at it, all Shiba men ended up with a similar type of woman. It would've been nice to have a different ending, but it is Kubo's choice after all. At least I can follow an artist on Twitter that draws them occasionally
i like the creativity of byakuya on using his zanpakuto that it seems like there's nothing he cannot kill or defeat from his shikai up to his bankai everything is being used perfectly
It's amazing how when you're young and reading these series it never hits you (meaning me) that there are subtleties going on with these characters. It reminds me of how immature I was in judging Kubo as a weak writer. Watching your channel has turned me around on the entire Bleach narrative. I'm glad to have been wrong after all this time. Love your analysis man.
Byakuyas big moments of development in the fight with Tsukishima and when he was talking to Ichigo while near death after facing As Nodt are IMO two of the best written and most powerful moments in the entire series.
Hey all! What I like the most with this character are scenes when he acts off character, but it s mainly in the anime like in the short bits at the very end when he wonders why there are no koi left in his pond, or the episode they go by the sea and he makes a funny -and weird- sculpture. I always remember a remark Ukitake makes when some wonder about Senbonsakura temper and behaviour in the zanpakuto arc, as Ukitake states that the zanpakuto really is like Byakuya when he was younger (so less in control of himself). This episode was the one I liked the most concerning the end of this arc. It was already hinted at regarding his relationship with Yoruichi in the manga too. That was quite surprising considering how he is introduced and how he remains for a while, that I really liked him more cause of this!
@@AmeerBANKAI people feel like he was supposed to die in the final arc to conclude his character arc. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone in the comments because I don't know if everyone read the TYBWA.
Favorite moment with Byakuya is when he drops the scarf on Renji after he survives Byakuya's bankai. Just his acknowledgement of Renji getting stronger, and a hint things were not what they seemed. Character I would love to see an analysis of - I do love Hinamori Momo's growth, but she is also my favorite character. But another character I think would be interesting is Shuhei Hisagi, especially his dynamic with his zanpakuto. (The difference with Kazeshini from the fight with Findorr and the filler arc to Can't Fear Your Own World and the epilogue is a lot of development for Hisagi and his sword.)
Mayuri to me will always be so fascinating in his progression and he really does have some amazing development. Yes, he’s still pretty creepy and cold, but his character speaks so much around perfection, knowledge, human attachment(and lack of it), ect. Byakuya is incredible aswell, and I felt like every fight we get with him there’s more development given each step of the way. He learns something every battle, and the reader themselves is given explicit and implicit signs of his change and growth.
@@izayathetroll4322 valid. I think at the least the way Kubo is able to convey these changes to the reader is through battles. But yes, the interactions are crucial, especially anything with Ichigo, Rukia, and even Renji.
I disagree on the Mayuri part. I think his development isn't shown really at all. He just suddenly "cares" for Nemu and that small flashback right before her death about how he cares so much he detaches himself is just really bad abuse justification. There is that small mention by Byakuya in Hueco Mundo of putting trust in Ichigo was nice but he is the same essentially
27:36 You can talk about it all day and we'll listen all day! Thanks for explaining because I TOTALLY missed what was really happening. These were more than battles between characters. They were battles of principles.
I love Byakuyas development in the series his fights with Tsukashima and Zomari sum his development up perfectly. He went from not really caring about Rukia to calling her his pride and he went from hating ichigo and thinking he's an abomination to respecting him above almost anyone else
That part gave me chills and I had a dorky grin on my face when he said that. He was already my favorite character in the series to that point but him basically saying rukia is the most important person to him in his own way made his character arc that much better considering this is the same man who was so ready to let her die
Byakuya is one of my favorite characters in Bleach aside from Toshiro and Ulquiorra. I guess I like characters who have reasons for their ways despite their cold and unapproachable attitude towards those they meet.
I would say it's more that Byakuya sees Ichigo as a reflection of himself...the himself that stood against the noble traditions and laws to be with Hisana, that was willing to defy the laws themselves to be with her rather than an antithesis to himself. Like he was fighting with himself to uphold the promise on his parents grave but at the same time fighting with himself to protect his promise to his wife to break the law again.
Byakuya appeared as a cold and emotionless man because those are his defense mechanism. He undoubtedly pushed everyone away, especially the ones closest to him not realizing what the consequences would do to him afterwards. Ichigo really made an impact on him more than he'd realize. And I think that was the essential part of his character development. In short, beating the sense out of him was the way to do it! Byakuya's moon was untouchable until Ichigo's Getsuga Tensho managed to slice that moon in half.
It really baffles me that more people don’t talk about how Byakuya let his sword shatter in the final clash with Ichigo. Ichigo didn’t break his sword, Byakuya let him win.
idk about letting him win, I'm pretty sure ichigo broke byakuya's sword, I do think he could've killed ichigo AFTER the clash since ichigo could barely stand while byakuya was able to shunpo around, so he had energy left, if he could conjure up a couple of kido, ichigo gets killed at the end. The fact that he just respected ichigo so much after their fight that he decides to leave speaks volumes to his character development from that point on.
I would love for "Nothing Can Be Explained" when Byakuya is talking to Ichigo on his deathbed. A nice callback to Ichigo lying there dying when him and Byakuya first fought
Byakuya is my fav character. My favorite part was when he supported rukia when rukia fought as nodt. I know I read the tybw arc but can you make a video going over it?
Any1 else got chills/teary a bit anytime they see the byakuya "not die" scene. Even though I know he survives, reading back then was shocking n heart breaking and reading it now they really should of killed him off
Byakuya is by far my favorite captain and probably my favorite character in the series as far as moments the first time he does his bankai or when he says “ you pointed your blade at my only pride “ 🐐 I do like that he seems to be an expert on bankai in it of itself as he often is telling other people about their own bankai 😂telling them they aren’t ready to use it or just about the weaknesses of it he is definitely surely worthy of being head captain after shunsui
Passage of torch is such a common media trope, and yet I think Bleach delivered it in a spectacular way with Byakuya entrusting Soul Society to Ichigo. Whoever decided to backpedal that decision, whether it was Kubo himself or his editors, should receive a smack in the back of the head.
Something I found kinda cool is how kubo made byakuya all serious and cold, some of his opponents' powers have to do with feelings, rorumari was amor, which means love In Spanish, as nodt was fear, pepe was love.
Another thing that hints at his development is I think it’s when Rukia releases her shikai she states that Byakuya declared it the most beautiful in Soul Society
What do you mean Jaime Lannister done right, lol. The books are still very faithful to Jaime's character development. The travesty that the show did should not be considered as the official path the character would take, even if we never end up getting the last 2 books.
Byakuya and Shunshui are my absolute favorite captains of the series. I do think it's telling that Byakuya managed to get that position well before Shunshui did though
idk if it's just me but his out-of-characterness during Soul Society arc actually makes sense. Initially I also think his character in SS arc was just to drive home his "villain" role, but looking back at it with knowledge of his character background, that Byakuya's coldness is a conditioned behavior; that controlled persona is learned; that the real Byakuya is more hotheaded like Ichigo, it changed my perspective on it. It was his rebelliousness that got him in trouble with "law and order", so the second time around, he tried to repent by exerting control over himself. Becoming even colder is probably an emotional defense. Rukia's sentence pits him against two promises that he made in his natural state, and knowing that it was that side of him that once again put him in trouble would've triggered that repentance mechanism again. Plus, when you're in an internal conflict like that, tendency is to you get tunnel vision about the situation or fixate on one thing and try to gain control of it, because that does give you a sense of control and fight that feeling of, well, losing control. I imagine for Byakuya, that's to control his own behaviors or what can be controlled, which is making sure Rukia's sentence gets "achieved". At times his OOC-ness feels like an ongoing mental breakdown as long as the invasion lol like his lines about being the one to end Rukia herself, about Renji when he lost to Ichigo, those moments felt like signs. He needed a total stranger like Ichigo to yell at his face and point out the flaw in his logic for him to get out of that tunnel vision.
Maybe I’m the only one but I thought the underlying cruelty of soul society arc Byakuya was because of Aizens control, clouding Yama and Byakuyas minds to present obstacles to people figuring him out
My favorite moment with Byakuya is During his fight with Zommrie it’s when Zommire is going on his spiel about why are soul reapers killing hollows and Byakuya saids I’m not killing you because your a hollow or because you’re an Arrancar that’s apart of Azin’s army no I’m killing you because you pointed your blade at my one and only pride and it cuts back to Rukia when he says this
It would’ve been nice to see more interactions with his captains, it’s like cuz he sees them as children it prevents him from having any real relationships with him shit I wanna know more about Yamas mindset and all we did not get to see enough of this stuff
in the soul society arc, my understanding was Byakuya and most of the other captains were under Aizen's influence which is why they were okay with Rukia's death. Because that's what Aizen wanted, to collect the Hogyoku. I think Byakuya wouldn't have been so quick to accept Rukia's death if it wasn't for Aizen's doing. It is evident how much Byakuya cares for his little sister from the start. Yes, he was disappointed at her for breaking a law, yes he is a noble who follows said laws, yes he is prideful and all that, but not villainous the way he was in that first arc. I firmly believe it was Aizen's influence. It is even more apparent when you see how quickly Byakuya flips his behavior after Aizen's machinations are exposed. everyone's behavior changes.
Byakuya definitely has the best development in comparison to screen time than the rest of the captains. You go from hating him so much in the fight with ichigo but, you're sad to see him go in the tybw arc :(
No, "The most developed character in Bleach is Ichigo" - Tite Kubo(2015) VERY SHORT SUMMARY: (please read)🙇 - Since the begining Ichigo did not know much about his own self which was also stated by Isshin. Which really made Bleach as a puzzle for Ichigo. -Ichigo who was internally traumatized by his mother's death yet he surpressed it and due to which he wanted to protect his friends and family. -Ichigo developed throughout every single fight he was in. He managed to grow both as a fighter and as a character all the more learning more about himself. -Ichigo was scared of the hollow inside of him that would have killed him, He just like a teen would get depressed, sad and feel helpless at times which was one of his theme. - In the fullnring arc Ichigo Finally uttered the word "Kill" for Tsukishima not to mention he killed his first Human . Something he was always reluctant to do even with Grimmjow or Ulquiorra. He cried bcuz there was nothing he could do. -in the final arc Ichigo told Zangetsu , "I won't ask you for your help anymore from now on I will fight for myself" That is when Ichigo truly developed without any DOUBTS he was ready to KILL Ywach. Ichigo truly is the most special character in Bleach.
@@tyronjasonhuff sorry man, but with all due respect I disagree cuz if you're a good reader then it's quite clear Kubo was always trying tell a story about Ichigo and literally many times it was being said by characters . So, it's really hard to miss the first time but in the reread you're definitely gonna see it
I wouldn't say Ichigo is the most developed. He has development, just not the most. There is a slight subjective angle to what constitutes "most developed", but I a don't think there is a reasonable case for Ichigo being the most developed. Especially over Byakuya.
@@tripkings547 I see this from the eye of a literature student who literally studies the subject'Story writing' not on a subjective base or a biased fan. Byakuya is developed but read carefully and see Whatever Ichigo went through in the series and conclusion of ABTR arc justifies Ichigo as the most developed and again I'm seeing it as story writer not a fan.
@@kushagrasharma5402 hi, I’m a former literary student and well, as much as I see your point in a way, if you do not develop your main character in your story, why developing the supporting ones? You can make a choice by telling a story of someone who does not change, and then stress his lack of change by making everything else evolve but you will run short fast or turn in circle. When you pick a teen with a past and special abilities, of course you will develop him, but if he develops less than the others, would he still be so central to the story? You know as much as I do though that developing as much others characters while not losing focus on who is the lead is not easy whatever medium you use. So I would personally consider developing Ichigo was a given from the start, and the point here was, what about the others?
I fucking *HAAAAATED* Byakuya for all the bullshit in the SS arc. The fact I actually understand and like him later is a testament to how much his character developed. I do agree that he developed so much that seeing him in SS is jarring Also while I’m not sure if the movies are cannon (I don’t think they are?), I did like how he was someone who picked up on something being very wrong in the movie involving Rukia. I absolutely do wonder how his character would develop if Rukia was actually killed in the SS arc. I definitely see him and Ichigo going all in against Aizen. It actually makes me wish we could’ve had a seen with him and Aizen because as a Nobel I’m very curious as to what could be stated since Aizen knows how corrupt they are
Honestly, I think I've started watching Bleach mainly due to Byakuya and Ulquiorra, and they certainly did not disappoint in their roles as antagonists in their respective sagas. As for the Kuchiki's leader, hiss development and change within the global work I agree is among the greatest in the work. Well, also other characters start to change as well after Soul Society, but only slightest or without letting it see too much (like Soifon or Komamura, also Yama-ji a bit), or this just happens in final arc (for example for Kyoraku). The two that mostly change are Byakuya and Mayuri, all due to a change of role in the manga, but probabily the Kuchiki's head family changed most indeed. I mean, Kurotsuchi started as a despicable enemy and then pass to a mad scientist to be adored every single time he appears, but in the end he was that also at the start. His essence as a scientist, his cruel and twisted methods, have never changed during the work, mainly the perspective has changed. On other, Byakuya started as a total prideful shinigami, the rules and the honor of the family above all things, prioritizing family ties or accepting a human like Ichigo was out of the question for him, but after the Soul Society it changed almost radically, turning into Rukia perfect big bro, and starting to count on Ichigo too, recognizing him as a Shinigami, until the point (like you said in the video) to fight for him or pray him to save the Soul Society itself. A radical change indeed, the biggest one in Bleach. By the way, maybe now I will say something that will make someone angry, but the perfection would have been if he had really died in that scene, during the first invasion. It would have really impressed everyone, immolating the character forever, giving a serious feeling of threat from the Quincys (okay, besides Yama-ji's death), and of course it would have been a really turning point for Ichigo, Rukia and Renji themselves, in taking charge of his legacy. Then, well, I also mean... perhaps Kubo really planned to have him die there, but then changed his mind and revived him, leaving without a real role in the final arc (not just him ofc). He did good indeed, but he wasn't so relevant, he didn't have a major fight or even a little moment of glory (like Renji and Rukia for example) to show his best. That against those sternritters was off-screen (and their seems they get owned easily), while against Gerard his bankai lasted a moment. If Kubo didn't fucked up with the Miracle at the end, maybe could have been most interesting and important.
unpopular opinion: most people say that byakuya should have died against as nodt but i think otherwise. to be honest i like that he survived the fight against as nodt because of the healing powers of kirinji, it really gives some merit to the zero squad members overall. with that being said, i think if he had done something after being revived like killing a sternritter or more abilities to his bankai, then it would change how we view the final character arc even without him being killed. the only ability that he got was senkei senbonzakura kageyoshi ikka senjinka ( i hope i am spelling it right lol ), which is really cool because he told ichigo in the soul society arc that these swords wont attack him at the same time, but when he did it and all swords are flying against gerard, it truly was a hype moment for me.
2:46 Everyone knows the real og main antagonist is Grand Fisher. I remember thinking how weird it was going through Bleach and they just sort of drop the plot with Fisher trying to gain Ichigo's spirit energy. And then, he shows up at random later on and gets one shot. I don't hate it, but it's so strange. But anyways, just good to note, Byakuya is a major character in the Zanpakto filler arc, even facing off against one of the main villains (and one tied directly to the Kuchiki family). Filler in general definitely tries to tie his "villainous" side which acts on the pride of his family name and the law of Soul Society with his character change to make it feel a bit more natural. Also, I think Uryu has the best character development. From his smug almost racist views on soul reapers and his ideals confirmed with Mayuri, to his fairly subtle growing bond with Ichigo culminating in being there for him as a Vasto Lorde. And of course the culmination of his story in the TYBW and the choice he has to make as the "pride of the Quincy" he's talked about the whole franchise.
Ulquiorra has to be shouted out for best character development in such a short time. His interactions with orihime are the only time orihime was interesting to me
Can’t think of anyone who Kubo did better with overall, everyone else feels static in comparison imo. My favorite moment is when he tells Zommari, that he didn’t kill him because of their roles as Hollow and Shinigami, he killed him because he pointed his Sword at his Pride.
That tells you he's changed and its thanks to ichigo. He was so adamant about following the laws that he'd let his own sister in law die but ichigo going that far to save her showed him that maybe his way was a bit too extreme. He went into protective older brother mode for damn near the rest of the series. Especially when as nodt was about to fight him and byakuya was like nah dude shes the one who's gonna kill you. The byakuya from the soul society arc would never have done that. Plus you can see how much he was proud of rukia using her bankai
I really hope you see this because I need you to explain to me one simple thing..I've looked for it everywhere but can't find any real reason why or what is the significance of the Spanish wording in the show?? I looked all over RUclips and can't find a video explaining why could you please elaborate as to why they use or the significance of the Spanish wording I'm Mexican so it's not like I don't understand the words but does the creator of the manga ever go into detail as to why he uses Spanish wording for the hollows
Half an hour of byakuya, his relevance to the plot , his relationship with ichigo renji and rukia. 2 minutes of his post zero squad training fights ( more than 100 chapters ) . Guess kubo really did want to kill him . He appeared a lot in the end but was never relevant
Oh 100% he was meant to die.. the whole “death scene” is magnificent.. and he should have died against As Nodt, but Kubo gave into the fan outrage. Byakuya is my favorite character and that made his death even more impactful and I was so pissed that Kubo went back on that and kept him alive.. it really did undercut his “death scene” and it also kept Rukia and even Renji’s characters from progressing more naturally. Also at that time, Bleach really needed a major character death, besides Yamamoto..
@@DFTNSHEXGRM Why are people still believing that Kubo planned to kill Byakuya ? Kubo never intended to kill Byakuya, It was confirmed when the JET Book released in 2018 (Note: the manga finished in 2016). He stated that the only character he was going to kill off but didn't was Grimmjow. Q.22: I’m curious to know if there are any characters who who radically transitioned away from your initial conception and setup, both during and before the series. Kubo: Grimmjow is the one who underwent the biggest transformation. I get the feeling I’ve mentioned this elsewhere, but Grimmjow was initially set up to die before long, it was my plan to make him exit the stage as the story progressed. J: Is there any character who ended up dead even though you hadn’t originally planned to do so? Kubo: Not off the top of my head, I think not. It’s the same for the reverse too. Grimmjow is pretty much the only exception. As you can see, he said "Grimmjow is pretty much the only exception". He also said: "Although my depictions can give the impression that 'this person looks to be on the point of death here’, my thinking is “I still want to make this character do so-and-so after this” and I don’t let them die." You can see the source if you want: Search in google: "bleach jet artbook talk vol 2 translation" and you will see missstormcaller's tumblr with the translation of the book. I saw some people in the comments saying that Kubo recieved death threats, but that's not true and there is no evidence of it. Just search in google "bleach chapter 515 discussion" and you will see that in "myanimelist" website or other websites like reddit, gamefaqs, dailyanimeart, etc... most people in that time were upset and wanted Byakuya to be dead, none of them threatened Kubo. Kubo did it worse with some characters, like when Hiyori got cut in half (in the manga) by Gin but she lived, or when Momo got stabbed twice in the heart but she lived.
I've seen a few people who just started watching Bleach so, *SPOILER alert* 25:11 Exactly what I wish for when they animate Byakuya's supposed death, no music. Just the rain and them talking. It would be perfect. Man, as much as I love Byakuya's character, I still wish he actually died there.
What's your favourite Byakuya moment? Is there another character's journey you'd like me to look at? Let me know!
Probably tybw how we see him talking with Ichigo he went from being a rival like figure to being a friend
Yeah i hope that Mr Tom will make More tybw videos.
Like how you said about Ichigo in my eyes he's like the man of karakura town the protection of his town
When he basically discarded his own limbs to save Rukia and said he was proud of her, that's when he felt most like an older brother.
Another awesosme vid! Love it! Keep em comin plz lol
I literally started watching bleach because of byakuya's character design, and he's still my favourite character.
Mines too, 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
Same goes for me as
Knowing the stories of Kenpachi, and Aizen, being demons made me watch it.
I loved it when byakuga held rukias hand after she used bankai
and compliments her bankai, realizes the dangers of it and guides her using it correctly. I like this bit too
He failed to say "Oh and I thought I'm cold hearted"
@@crosis2 the fact that this is such a great joke and Byakuya is known to be so serious and not make jokes at all, is great.
I like how in the manga Rukia tells Ichigo that Byakuya says, "let that little punk run around Hueco Mundo for awhile, and see how they like it" I laughed so hard.
My favorite Byakuya moment was when he attended the Shinigami Women's Association meetings for Rukia and he brought an anti Yachiru countermeasure.
Lol when he finds the pool they built in his yard and Senbonzakura’s it 😂 that was a great filler, priceless 👌🏻

Yesssss! I feel Byakuya changed throughout the series more then some people want to accept or realize, just like i planned.

OMG IM YOUR BIGGEST FAN AIZEN!!!!!!!! YOU ARE MY FAVORITE CHARACTER IN ALL OF ANIME
"you pointed your blade at my pride" is my favorite part
Byakuya always reminds me Seshomaru from Inuyasha. Both being stoic and aloof while observing and protecting their girls secretly
Every moment with Byakuya was my favorite... He Had The Best Character Development in Bleach ... Also has one of my favorite zanpaktou.... Rather Byakuya died or didn’t it doesn’t mess up his character

Tsukishima loves breaking status quo
Byakuya hates status quo being broken
Tsukishima slowly taking away Ichigo's respectable qualities
Byakuya slowly respecting Ichigo more and more
best summary i've read
I also really like when calls the Captain’s Haori cheap and that he can replace it easily in front of Yamamoto.
Cloth of the brokebois dont cut it.lol
Pretty much :)
How dare you present the head of the kuchiki clan with cheap rags. 😂😂
I laughed at that cause that's definitely something he would say. Like these cheap rags dont cut it for me I can find something better easily dont think I cant lol
back then i realized Byakuyas changes only after seeing hes SMILING after Mayuri's words in hueco mundo arc
He probably did planned the captains but not their haori.
Remember what Rukia said when the gillian appeared in the 1st arc.
Buakuya's role in zanpakuto arc was phenomenal for a filler that is.
For a filler arc it was really nice and didnt feel like filler
Byakuya is truly my favorite character in the Bleach series. Always thought he had the best character development of anyone besides Ichigo.
This is a great vid,Byakuya will always be one of my all time fav characters in bleach
At least I can follow an artist on Twitter that draws them occasionally
from "you think you can ever help us" to "please save the soul society"..........
He was one of favorites even in the beginning when he was still very condescending. His character design is top notch also. Great video Tommo!!
i like the creativity of byakuya on using his zanpakuto that it seems like there's nothing he cannot kill or defeat from his shikai up to his bankai everything is being used perfectly
I’m gonna cry when that scene is animated 😭😭😭😭
I wish we got more info about the history of soul society and the noble houses.
Byakuya is an awesome character and you did a brilliant video here! 👌🏼
I would say he does have the best character development, but, he could've had one of the best character arc conclusions in all of manga
Truth for 300!
Dude str8 facts
Absolutely agree
What do you mean by could have ?
I feel as tho not through battles but through interactions with other characters we can see how Byakuya has come.
@@izayathetroll4322 valid. I think at the least the way Kubo is able to convey these changes to the reader is through battles. But yes, the interactions are crucial, especially anything with Ichigo, Rukia, and even Renji.
@@himboronin2573 Kubo conveys most of the characters development through battle.
@@izayathetroll4322 because not everyone can be ichigo.
So great, I love Byakuya and this video truly does capture his development as a character.
I love your videos. Byakuya is my favorite charter. The moment I truly love is also where he says: "You pointed your blade at my pride."
That part gave me chills and I had a dorky grin on my face when he said that. He was already my favorite character in the series to that point but him basically saying rukia is the most important person to him in his own way made his character arc that much better considering this is the same man who was so ready to let her die
this was f*cking amazing. loved every second of this video! you have outdone yourself with this one
He has that same aristocratic aura of Sesshomaru in Inuyasha.
Aristocratic bros gotta’ stay together.
Byakuya is one of my favorite characters in the series as a whole
I would agree but I might be biased he's my favorite character in all of fiction
For me he's my fave in all of anime, don't know whether to place him above snape 😅
Byakuya's moon was untouchable until Ichigo's Getsuga Tensho managed to slice that moon in half.
byakuya is hands down my favorite hero in bleach
It really baffles me that more people don’t talk about how Byakuya let his sword shatter in the final clash with Ichigo. Ichigo didn’t break his sword, Byakuya let him win.
I don't think that was implied
Where are you getting this from?
idk about letting him win, I'm pretty sure ichigo broke byakuya's sword, I do think he could've killed ichigo AFTER the clash since ichigo could barely stand while byakuya was able to shunpo around, so he had energy left, if he could conjure up a couple of kido, ichigo gets killed at the end. The fact that he just respected ichigo so much after their fight that he decides to leave speaks volumes to his character development from that point on.
Byakuya did not shatter his own sword, ichigo broke it.
and Ichigo could have killed Byakuya with his bankai to his throat but didn't @@ItsMeStrider
Whoooooot! Byakuya is the best!
I love it when you make Byakuya vids, as I say repeatedly in the comments lol
Man I've been waiting for this video for so long !!! Thank you so much it was fantastic !! Thank u man great video 👌👌
I love all your videos. No exception. I just wish there were more! Congrats on the 100k+ subs!
Thank you! I'll keep uploading as much as I can!
Something I found kinda cool is how kubo made byakuya all serious and cold, some of his opponents' powers have to do with feelings, rorumari was amor, which means love In Spanish, as nodt was fear, pepe was love.
How have I never found this channel before now??
Another thing that hints at his development is I think it’s when Rukia releases her shikai she states that Byakuya declared it the most beautiful in Soul Society
It was mentioned a long time ago she had the most beautiful bankai
Byakuya is simply jaime lannister done right
Both of them are my favorite
What do you mean Jaime Lannister done right, lol. The books are still very faithful to Jaime's character development. The travesty that the show did should not be considered as the official path the character would take, even if we never end up getting the last 2 books.
Who’s Jaimie lannister ?
"Love is the death of duty"
My favorite character in Bleach.
My fav moment from byakuya is the TYBW MANGA Fight with AsNodt.
Awesome video! You should make a video on all the types of Kidō and everything involving Kidō, just a thought.
Hey first I love ur bleach content 😈it’s all thanks to you that I know so much about bleach now
Byakuya is one of the complete characters
It would be cool to see a video about his relationships to others as well.
Maybe I’m the only one but I thought the underlying cruelty of soul society arc Byakuya was because of Aizens control, clouding Yama and Byakuyas minds to present obstacles to people figuring him out
My favorite moment with Byakuya is During his fight with Zommrie it’s when Zommire is going on his spiel about why are soul reapers killing hollows and Byakuya saids I’m not killing you because your a hollow or because you’re an Arrancar that’s apart of Azin’s army no I’m killing you because you pointed your blade at my one and only pride and it cuts back to Rukia when he says this
Another awesosme vid! Love it! Keep em comin plz lol. Who's next? Lol
Glad he didn't die so he could guide Rukia through using her Bankai, going to be awesome once its animated!
senbonzakura is so cool everybody had to copy it
Magnificent your fang has definitely reached me.
You should also talk about We do Knot love you, the light novel as well..
I always thought that the way Byakuya acts in the soul society arc was because of Aizens influence driving him
Byakuya definitely has the best development in comparison to screen time than the rest of the captains. You go from hating him so much in the fight with ichigo but, you're sad to see him go in the tybw arc :(
No, "The most developed character in Bleach is Ichigo" - Tite Kubo(2015)
VERY SHORT SUMMARY: (please read)🙇
- Since the begining Ichigo did not know much about his own self which was also stated by Isshin.
While you are not wrong. Most of this doesn't translate as well because of goe the plot flows. So you dont even truly notice this untill a reread.
Justin: My favorite bleach character 😍
I fucking *HAAAAATED* Byakuya for all the bullshit in the SS arc. The fact I actually understand and like him later is a testament to how much his character developed. I do agree that he developed so much that seeing him in SS is jarring
Also while I’m not sure if the movies are cannon (I don’t think they are?), I did like how he was someone who picked up on something being very wrong in the movie involving Rukia.
I absolutely do wonder how his character would develop if Rukia was actually killed in the SS arc. I definitely see him and Ichigo going all in against Aizen. It actually makes me wish we could’ve had a seen with him and Aizen because as a Nobel I’m very curious as to what could be stated since Aizen knows how corrupt they are
His Bankai music is THE Bankai music
His interactions with orihime are the only time orihime was interesting to me
His novel is also nice
@@marinenico1993 yes I love his original hollow form
Byakuya will be the official trainer for Ichika and Kazui. Aizen will be their unofficial trainer.
Tsukishima doesn’t lie to people he inserts himself into their past and legitimately becomes a part of their life
You should do a video on Nnoitra. He’s a very well written character.
Loving the byakuya videos my favourite bleach character and one of my favorite of all time.
Byakuya and Ichigo would be just alike if he didn’t have to become head of the clan so soon
Can’t think of anyone who Kubo did better with overall, everyone else feels static in comparison imo.
My favorite moment is when he tells Zommari, that he didn’t kill him because of their roles as Hollow and Shinigami, he killed him because he pointed his Sword at his Pride.
Completely agree with you on that
That tells you he's changed and its thanks to ichigo.
I’d agree with that headline
I really hope you see this because I need you to explain to me one simple thing..I've looked for it everywhere but can't find any real reason why or what is the significance of the Spanish wording in the show?? I looked all over RUclips and can't find a video explaining why could you please elaborate as to why they use or the significance of the Spanish wording I'm Mexican so it's not like I don't understand the words but does the creator of the manga ever go into detail as to why he uses Spanish wording for the hollows
My favorite Byakuya moment is when Tsukishima-San saved his life and the entire soul society
@@DFTNSHEXGRM i'm pissed at how disgusting some anime fans can literally sending death threats at the guy
He also said: "Although my depictions can give the impression that 'this person looks to be on the point of death here’, my thinking is “I still want to make this character do so-and-so after this” and I don’t let them die."
You can see the source if you want:
Search in google: "bleach jet artbook talk vol 2 translation" and you will see missstormcaller's tumblr with the translation of the book.
Byakuya dying would be great but no not that silly and early at to a top tier quincy , not before some huge win or a big achievement.
@@paulvarus859 as nodt was at best a mis tier sternritter
I've seen a few people who just started watching Bleach so, *SPOILER alert*
25:11 Exactly what I wish for when they animate Byakuya's supposed death, no music. Just the rain and them talking. It would be perfect. Man, as much as I love Byakuya's character, I still wish he actually died there.
In a way his reformation and development is representative of postwar Gotei 13 and the sheer shaking up of the ruling status quo and traditions.
