Yes, absolutely love that race. Me and my brother have rode with the Dunlops on a track. They are just something else. We did 12 laps and they beat 3rd place by I think a whole minute. And this is group a racing
I am happy to hear that you are such a MotoGP fan. Judging from the statements you made, whether it be about the tracks or riders, -YOU- are just as informed and into it as I am, and have been since the days of Eddie Lawson, Freddie Spencer, and Kevin Swance. Yes, I'm old, but still appreciate your content and channel. Even the information you share that I've known for longer than I care to mention is a great refresher AND I pass on some of those to young/new riders I know. Thanks again Yammy!!!
@yammienoob About the forthcoming 850cc MotoGP bikes... You're so young you might not remember ;) But MotoGP allready tried the 800cc engines. For seasons 2007-2011 the former 990cc engines were reduced to 800cc to lower the speeds and make racing safer. It did drop the top speeds on straights but it didn't make racing any safer, quite contrary. The 800cc bikes were lighter and had their center of mass way lower so the speeds in corners got higher. And you might have guessed, very rarely there are crashes on the straights... With 800cc bikes the amount of crashes in corners didn't grow by much but those crashes happened in way higher speeds than in 990cc era. So, after just four years they went into 1000cc bikes wich were actually safer than the 800cc bikes. :'D
In the beginning of this video you have a picture of Glen Curtiss on the V8 motorcycle he set a world speed record of 130 something on the beach sand of Ormond Florida in around 1907. Glen Curtiss is the first person to fly an airplane a mile, which was done at the southmost point of Keuka Lake at Hammondsport New York. There is a museum shared with the local police department there and that V8 motorcycle is sitting right next to the cash register. Glen Curtiss liked V8 engines and designed aircooled ones for his airplanes which you can see in the museum. Like most people in early motorcycling, he started out with bicycles and built motorcycles with one, two, and three cylinders in a Harleyesque pattern. There is all kinds of interesting things in that museum, like washing machines with gas engines and pictures of early balloon flight and manufacture. Take a trip to see it and visit the Gold Seal winery just up the road...
Genuinely a very good video with accurate information and a good over view of motorcycle drag and land speed racing and this is coming from a guy who built my 7 second drag bike and holds a land speed record at 234 mph so well done
I've ridden six different motorcycles at Bonneville seven times and will ride my seventh bike at my 8th Bonneville this year (2024). I've got close to 200 mph (196.3 mph) and close to record on a Rocket 3 last year before getting spit off and completely trashing that Rocket 3. I only intended to do it once but kinda got hooked on it. I thought it would be easy but quickly found how hard it is to go fast the Bonneville. Guy Martin can testify how much fun it is and how hard running at Bonneville is.
I am ALWAYS AMAZED seeing someone doing a dank nooner or catching a ton of air GOING AROUND A CORNER!!!!! Physics shouldn't allow it!!! 😂😂😂 Yammi is gonna have a baby noob!!!!! Congrats my Pappa!!!
I'm a lucky boy my house is on the North West 200 race track (Mill Road Roundabout) It's great to more or less sit in my front garden watching legends fly by every year.

his turbo gsxr1000 has 750 bhp. he holds the world record for a street bike. under 6 seconds at over 220mph. he's the man when it comes to 2 wheel speed records
I gotta say it: streamliners and drag bikes with training wheels are not motorcycles! Streamliners are completely enclosed with the driver sitting in a seat, so they are two wheeled cars; they also have the extra wheels that retract at speed, so they don't truly only have 2 wheels either. Same with Drag bikes with training wheels, they have 4 wheels and up to 3 touching at a time, so not motorcycles; although, technically I'd agree with calling them trikes.
u should difintly do a weekly motogp-sbk video. there is very few information about it in english, due to ditactorship of the rights of dorna. but u can be the first one to make realy big . u already have the base(setup cpmmunity of fans , etc). i mean , there are a lots of channels about f1, beign most boring than golf . u can make it . go ahead
I'd stay on the 500 for another year or two, the 6R is a beast as far as 600cc sportbikes go. I've ridden just about every class of motorcycle there is out there in 40+ years, currently ride (and drag race) a ZX-14R and that 6R is fast as hell.
I'm surprised given the fact you're American, you didn't mention Bill Warner who did 298mph in a standing mile, and 311mph in 1.5 miles. Also shane stubbs who has done 277mph, and 265mph on a naked hayabusa. He also has the half mile record at 241mph
Question: If bikes like the M1000XR and Duacti Multistrada V4 RS. Are apparently more comfortable Supersports. Do you buy a supersport for tracks and looks? What exactly do you do with these bikes. I'm new and curious.
A sports tourer will have a more upright riding position and be more comfortable than the sports versions. They're built for long tours but with sports bike looks .
I happily watched the first 2023 Indian Moto GP ...but when I came to know it's been cancelled for the 2024 I was not happy. Thankfully it's back on the calander for 2025 to 2027.😁
I feel like it might not be as scary doing it in the land speed breaking "motorcycles" since you're really in a car. I bet going 200mph on a regular Hayabusa would be scarier than 400mph in the land speed race version.
Well, typically 520 chains can hold a lot of power, if you buy the expensive high tensile stuff, some rated up to 9,540 lb tensile and 200 hp. 525 and 530 chains can hold a lot more. I'm not aware (but there probably is) of fatter chains for the big turbo drag bikes. I've seen some transmission castings crack loose because the countershaft sprocket pulls so violently that either the swingarm bends or the engine casing cracks open. RK makes drag and road-racing 530 chains rated for 350+ horsepower, rated 11,880 lb tensile strength.
@@exothermal.sprocket Same chain I put on my Kawi 14R, RK 530. I know it's overkill for a 200 hp bike but too much is never enough. (At least that's what SHE tells me...)
@@effingracing-23r You'll never reach the "rated" tensile, which has a safety factor built into it. The only gains you get from 530 over the narrow chains is just less wear on the rollers and greater longevity. The downside is increased mass of sprockets and chain.
I cant understand why guys in US use 525 or 520 chains when the manufacturer put a 530 in there, it might be the lack of power. I am using 530 with 11100lbs strength, it has snapped couple times, also rollers crack occasionally.

Hey nuttin wrong with goin to speed flats I went there for my speed licenses or certificates or whatever then call it now with a modded 930. The thing I don't get is why does bike which with kawi I know have ski(most motors are the same) that are modded putting out big numbers why does that not show its self on bikes.....
It depends on what country you're in as to which provider has it. In the United States, MotoGP is on TNT Sports channel, but even that is somewhat regional (I don't have it available in my area). WSBK is on MAVTV in the USA. YCMV (Your Country...)
think they should leave the litre bikes in motogp and get rid of the trash aero. Dropping to 850 isnt gonna make washing out someone else aero go away.
The salt flats are not at all like gravel. If it was you would have no chance at all of breaking any speed records It's more like concrete. Informative video but you shouldn't ended with the salt flats work your way up to it.

Over time, engineers will find a way for 850cc engines to be almost as fast as the ones we currently have in the Moto GP.
This channel could use some mph/kph conversions for the non-american audience
