i think maybe the moment we entered penacony we were already in a dream. Afterall, how could it be that we were the only ones to see Misha in the lobby when we first entered? With the only real person being sparkle, hence everyone is ???
I was 5 inches from choosing this option because I wanted to go back and help the fight going on outside, potentially ganging up on Acheron or having the choice to pick the other... I had to think for SO LONG to decide that Adventurine was my best bet in avenging Firefly or uncovering whatever else is going on here, still glad I decided to take his side.
Yeah, just like in the Herta's Space Station. If you refuse Himeko's offer, the story just end there. Same here, if you log back in after the game forced you to the title screen, you are back in the story where you have to "follow" Aventurine.

This series of events leads me to beleive that by "reporting the IPC" to the Penacony officials, it seems they put is in a dreamscape where evything goes off without a hitch, the bad guy is caught, and the day is saved! Except we know thats not how this ends. Because it leaves too many open ended questions. Such as what happened to Sam and Acheron, how did the Charmony Festival go with Robin still very much being dead. What happened to the creature of death. But still, I love little easter eggs like this that reward players for going against the main story. But this is definitely a "bad ending." An idealistic world where we saved Penacony and everyone lived happily ever after is NOT hmwhere this story is going.
It's like "Sampo" said, The Astral Express is one of the only groups that can move overtly while everyone else is moving in the shadows. So many moving parts and secrets, letting any one side have too much leverage and they get to keep their secrets safe.
My read is that this path leads to us being trapped in a dreamworld where it only looks like things went well, but things did not actually go well and that's why this is an ending.
The loose ends aren't tied up because you didn't investigate further. Aventurine gets framed by the true mastermind, whoever or whatever it is, and you never learn the truth.
I was thinking "Sure I want to leave but how?" Now I know how and what it does... And... My disapointment Is immeasurable and my day is ruined... Game gives you choice and they just... There is only one moment

yeah. the real conspiracy isn't by the IPC and that's why they're also investigating. once you progress a little past this "choice" you'll see what I mean
