I initially thought the Land of the Free project was another Trump video..... I had NO intentions of elk hunting but,,, Because of the BRO guys & happening to start watching their videos 17-19 - I instantly discovered you guys !!! It'll be my 1st year this year.......................... It would be nice for that opportunity to hunt the elk over here in Wisconsin
The first elk tags in WI history started this year, thanks to RMEF. When I was a kid, at our hunting shack near Hayward, my dad was reading F&S and told me I'd be about 30 when the first elk tags in WI would become available. I'm 31.

I’ve read whitetail studies on full moon behavior. With GPS tracking and counting deer through spot lighting they found deer stayed close to cover during the full moon. They believed it was because predators had an advantage in the bright moonlight. There was an increase in short range movement right in the middle of the day during full moon periods.
I’m assuming this is Corey’s house. It’s funny to see a fellow contractor to have an unfinished home too. I totally get it and my wife is always on me to finish a project. I can only say I focus more on my client’s home than my own....

Corey, what did you see last year in regards to cow estrus vs. moon phase? I believe that you were pretty correct with a late estrus. At least I saw this last season (2018 season) that it seemed that the cows went into estrus later in September. Could be too that it was pretty hot in September too. What do you think?

Hey guy I have been working on the Oregon coast about ten miles inland. Its not that wet, some times a lil dew in the morning, but the temps have been mild. You will need bug dope, no seeums will eat you alive, it is also steep and brushy...... Did I say steep and brushy? cuzz its steep and brushy! Have fun!

Corey and Dirk went to high school together, and Corey and Donnie met through work several years ago.

So I’m in Northern Colorado hunting the first five days of the archery season with a full moon on the first day of the season and I’ve got tags for either sex archery deer and elk.
Any thoughts since it will be too early for the rut to have started
I’m fairly new to hunting but my god I love the time up in the high country pushing my way through the mountains
What effects does cloud cover at night have on hunting during a full moon?
Tyler, great question! As you would imagine, if it’s cloudy, the light from the moon isn’t going to get through and have the same effect on the elk that it has during a clear sky. Prolonged cloudy weather during the full moon will provide similar results as what you would find during a new moon….more daytime elk activity and possibly a later start to the peak rut.
