    Skill Level: Beginner
Tools List for Painting a Nursery:
    Canvas drop cloth [amzn.to/2p1L5eM]
    Angled paint brush [amzn.to/2nqiBLv]
    Paint bucket [amzn.to/31QMNOK]
    Paint roller [amzn.to/31Wloea]
    Paint tray [amzn.to/2IvIe50]
    Shopping List:
    Zero VOC paint [amzn.to/2VlsFBN]
    Lead test kit [amzn.to/31UFupl]
    Painter’s tape [amzn.to/31UYqUP]
    Steps:
    1. In any house built before 1978, start by testing the room for lead paint. Use the kit and follow the instructions to determine if there is lead paint on the walls or on any painted trim.
    2. Place the drop cloth on the floor and tape off the trim with painter’s tape to protect the room from paint splotches.
    3. Cut around the ceiling, windows, trim and outlets with the 2” angled brush.
    4. For the rest of the walls, switch to the roller.
    5. Allow the paint to dry for about an hour and then apply a second coat using the same method.
    6. With the paint still wet, remove the painter’s tape. Once the paint has dried, remove the drop cloths.
    Resources:
Mauro painted the nursery using Natura Interior Paint [amzn.to/2VleOLX] by Benjamin Moore (www.benjaminmoore.com). The color is called “Antique Glass” in an eggshell finish. For any room, but especially a nursery, Mauro strongly recommends using zero VOC paint. It’s virtually odorless and doesn’t release any harmful chemicals as it dries.
To test the walls for lead paint, Mauro used the LeadCheck Swabs test kit [amzn.to/2ASJta5], manufactured by 3M (www.3m.com).
The other materials used for this project, including the paintbrushes, drop cloths, painters tape, and rags can all be found at home centers.

I would paint the trim around the window and the base white as well. Would look better.

That's overly done in my opinion. I don't see what people have against unpainted wood trim. I think it looks great.

You don't need to remove it, as long as it's not disturbed it's perfectly fine so just paint over it. The problem comes if you were to for example sand the walls, then you should wet sand it which is a bit tricky on drywall.

I wonder that too. In the end, you are painting over, not scratching or removing anything.

Call a lead removal specialist and 5000 bucks to have it removed, which requires sheet rock removal. Best thing is to just put 2-3 coats over it and leave it alone. Jmo.

Paint over it, and don't sand the lead paint. They really should have mentioned it, considering that many people are terrified of lead.

Forgot to test for asbestos in the ceiling, lol. Also forgot to paint the ceiling.
I never test anything, put 2-3 coats on it and seal it up. I'm not paying thousands of dollars for asbestos and lead removal specialists when there's no need. JMO.
