I think one thing that I think all fans do not like whatsoever is the fact that Mario and Luigi are now both controlled at the A button. That is a sin against all sins because every game in the series from the very beginning had Mario dedicated to A and Luigi dedicated to B in every game until this one. I get they made Luigi kind of separate as well as making some parts of the game more simplified in a sense with UI, but for the battles to have him select options with A and then instantly have to swap to B is pretty annoying when the old games had it right. Brothership is a wonderful game. The story is charming, the worlds are so unique (especially that final connectable island. MAN that was cool.) and the story picks up the longer it goes. I’m halfway through Brothership and I can honestly say that I really enjoy this game. I especially love where the story, combat and locations are going right now (especially the music later in the game). My thoughts are that time constraints are hampering reviewer’s opinions of the game. They probably wanted a quick game to rush through and write a review to move on to the next game that needs to be reviewed. The last couple of Mario RPG's (not counting remakes) have been mid at best. Superstar Saga, Partners in Time, TTYD, Bowser's Inside Story is where it's at.
Personally I have no interest in playing this game even though I played all the previous ones. The framerate & performance are bad, it costs full console price, the length is padded out similarly to the Dream Team problem from what I saw and there's no core battle gimmicks like fighting alongside Paper Mario or playing as Bowser. The game doesn't really have anything to catch my interest and instead it has more things that drives me away from it, and I'd rather play other games.
dude trust me frame rate and performance are not bad im up to the fourth great lighthouse it runs well core battle gimmick i guess is that its more flashy with more button prompts idk? gimmicks suck anyway imo i rather have it be a normal battle system
Why wouldn't this game cost $60??? And from what I've seen, the framerate isn't even that bad. And yeah ........ There are gimmicks in boss fights. Like.... It's fine if you have no interest in it, but like.... Your reasons aren't exactly... The best.
@@camharkness To be fair, I don't think the vast majority of games are worth $60. There has been gimmicks in boss fights throughout the entire series, what I'm talking about is gimmicks that changes if not defines the playable characters & how you play the game using them. Such as fighting alongside the baby brothers or again playing as Bowser straight up. 30fps with frame drops is really bad for a game like this, at least games like BOTW have the excuse of being massive open worlds and such.
@@carloslabrador1432 The framerate is well known and can be observed & noted without playing the game. The price is visible & relevant to consider before one can even play the game. The above average length of the game compared to most other entries in the series is well documented at this point and can be noted without playing the game. The game's battle system having only Mario and Luigi and no additional members or alternative is something that can be observed and noted without having played the game. These are just facts, not based on subjective taste or experience.
Kind of over nintendo's insert an obnoxious mascot into mario game trope when mario himself is the mascot. It's corny and no one is trying to hang out with a piggybank butterfly thing, a hat with eyes or a talking water pump. Stop it, nintendo.

All of these are worse than Brothership I fear...
The game doesn't really have anything to catch my interest and instead it has more things that drives me away from it, and I'd rather play other games.
dude trust me frame rate and performance are not bad im up to the fourth great lighthouse it runs well
core battle gimmick i guess is that its more flashy with more button prompts idk?
gimmicks suck anyway imo i rather have it be a normal battle system
You can't comment on something that you never played this game
@@carloslabrador1432 The framerate is well known and can be observed & noted without playing the game. The price is visible & relevant to consider before one can even play the game. The above average length of the game compared to most other entries in the series is well documented at this point and can be noted without playing the game. The game's battle system having only Mario and Luigi and no additional members or alternative is something that can be observed and noted without having played the game.
These are just facts, not based on subjective taste or experience.
Performance Wise this is the worst game in the series. This game can't hold 30fps properly and runs 22-28 fps most of the time that's a shame in 2024
Yea that does suck but I think the switch 2 will fix that hopefully running at 60fps
I regret spending $60 on this game 😞
why?
@ cause I haven’t had any fun with it
Kind of over nintendo's insert an obnoxious mascot into mario game trope when mario himself is the mascot. It's corny and no one is trying to hang out with a piggybank butterfly thing, a hat with eyes or a talking water pump. Stop it, nintendo.
maybe try playing this game and find out its incredibly charming and not bland
@@deadvikingtrolls pretty sure most people like companions in most Mario games. Especially Cappy and Fludd.
@tjlnintendo While simultaneously complaining that they want a new mario 64 or mario galaxy. I know. People as a monolith make no sense.
@@deadvikingtrolls
Not really a counter point since I didn’t treat people as a monolith or did I say anything about Galaxy and 64.
Also Galaxy had the white luma joining you. Galaxy 2 had the fat purple one as well.
@tjlnintendo I see what you're saying even if you don't fully see what I am saying. Forgot about the little star things in galaxy though, screw those too.
I feel like people are so desperate to not give IGN the reason when it comes to this game. Funny how y'all keep making excuses for this game solely because "But muh nostalgia over a 21 year old GBA Game tho!!!" And its hilarious.
