When I was 10 years old, I fell asleep in front of the tv one night, I woke up to the final scene of this movie...no context, no idea what it was, just the sudden shock of that little girl...it scared the hell out of me. For 42 years, I’ve wondered what the movie was, even did google searches and now, after all these years, I finally have my answer. Thank you!!!

Bad Movie Review: Young Hannah Queen of the Vampires (AKA Crypt of the Living Dead) 1125am 2.1.25 hahaha... weird. i am here to defend this movie... i just watched it again - it's cool. but having it pointed out to me that andrew prine looks akin to john holmes (the porno merchant) brought to mind the first porn movie i tried to watch - which merely had me awaken as the end credits rolled. which mirrors your own interaction with this horror movie - seeing the end credits roll and wondering what you'd missed... ahhahahaa.... such is life, eh?

Seems we have another film to add to the list of "_______ Of The Living Dead" titles. I think that list is way ahead of "_______ Of The Walking Dead", but it will still need some catching up to match the "Don't _______ The _______" list of titles. Also, I always enjoy Andrew Prine showing up in these films with his Texan accent. A bit of Americana in the world of European horror.
As for films that should be less (or more) serious than they are, I do think that Roger Corman's "Creature From The Haunted Sea" (1961) was too funny for its own good. The premise of a fake monster plot being foiled by a real monster is a good premise. The film didn't need to oversell its goofiness. Anthology horror films also seem to run into this problem when they have one of their stories being the "funny one", while the others are serious. Both "Dead Of Night" (1945) and "XX" (2017) have this problem.

And more than a few genre buffs will remember him in the title role of SIMON KING OF THE WITCHES. If you're really motivated you might try to track down a 1979 made for TV thriller titled MIND OVER MURDER, where he plays a serial killer. My answer to your question is a TV episode, but it fits your remit. I recently rewatched a 2006 episode of "Doctor Who" called "New Earth" which is set in a hospital (in the future and on another planet) which is extremely successful at treating people, but which turns out to be doing so by using clones that each have every disease imaginable inflicted upon them. Unsurprisingly those clones, kept in secret, go through a truly horrifying living hell before being disposed of. This would make for some deeply disturbing television and potentially an interesting ethical debate, if it wasn't for the fact that the main purpose of the episode is unrelated comedy. It's not presented as a tonal shift, or purposeful juxtaposition, it's a completely baffling stapling together of things that shouldn't form parts of the same story. Ugh!

I said it before and I'll say it again; DC Reviews is a far better heir to MST3K than the MST3K reboot is.
Maybe if they replaced Jonah with Robin...

In my mind Rifftrax is the best successor. All of the new MST, and even Cinematic Titanic, all feel kinda “flat” in a way 😕 I think it’s Joel’s overly-dry style. I’ve always been a Mike fan 😁

@@Gappasaurus I agree Rifftrax is the best. Mike, Bill, and Kevin are Hilarious. That's one of the things I've missed since the pandemic started... going to the live shows in theaters.

Another attempt to rip off Hammer Films that fell flat on its face, sank into the mud and let out a big nasty fart before sinking below the surface. Is there a large group of blind film editors that I've never been told about? There has to be for all the movies out there look like nobody watched them before sending them out to theaters.
A serious film that turned out silly, the all time classic, PLAN NINE FROM OUTER SPACE. Ed promised a Science Fiction Thriller, what we got was a comedy that keeps on giving.
But in the end, it gave the best lesson in film making ; it easy to look stupid when you don't know what you're doing

It drives me absolutely crazy when writers purposely write a scene/movie so that there is always some issue that could literally be solved by one word or action.
There were so many instances in "Captain America: Civil War" where Bucky, Cap and Stark could have solved each problem just by talking to each other. I know it sounds cliche', but Cap could have told Stark "Bucky was controlled by Hydra" and I'm sure Stark would have understood... but no, can't do that, gotta pad out that two hours somehow.
Not the best example, I know, but it's what I could think of off the top of my head.

If they ever do a "reboot" of this movie, I won't be surprised upon hearing Queen's Killer Queen playing in the background while they show the opening credits.
