Gotta thank my uncle and my dad for being big Led Zep and Deep Purple fans.. listened to these songs as early as 7-8 yrs old and I thank them for inspiring me early on to eventually love playing the drums, particularly rock music 💪🏽awesome video 👏🏽
Welcome back! Time to move on to Made in Japan (1972), renowned as one of the best live albums of all time - unedited too! Purple were always a "live" band. There is also a video of Ian's Drum solo from 1972 for drummers to react to. Or, to enjoy Paicey after they reformed with the same line-up, a variety of tracks off of "The House Of Blue Light" (1987) would be good for you to sample!
Depends on which edition you have. The original 1972 vinyl is the only one you should listen to, especially if you want the best live Space Truckin' version.
As others have said, Space Truckin’ live on Made in Japan lp is a must listen, not just for the crazy organ and guitar solos but Ian Paice’s almost superhuman, mesmerising galloping beat that he maintains for several minutes.
I suggest the Space trucking live version on vielles charreus France 2005. Than Speed King from Nec 2002 DVD, Ian Paice solo on Speed King (Paice view) an amatorial video here on RUclips, the ending of Mary long (studio version) or the ending of Hurricane (live with Gary Moore). If you want understand Ian Paice you should check at least these ones.
And another tune to show that DEEP PURPLE was and is the greatest hard rock band ever !! It is too bad that IAN PAICE did not get the recognition that he deserves , I think he is starting to now days , but yes , IAN PAICE is one of the best !! Actually the lineup they had at the time was ,,, ,,WOW !! Some of the best artists ever , and they played together great !!! If you have not checked out MADE IN JAPAN yet , you are missing out on something fantastic , put on your seatbelt !!!!
Glad to find someone whip enjoys listening to Ian Paice. As a big fan and owner of Made In Japan ever since it came out I agree with everyone’s love for that album. But I found a live Deep Purple album from Stockholm in 1970 that is incredible! Check it out, Monstrous solo by Ian Paice in a cover of Paint It Blsck!

Yes, the lead singer was Ian Gillian. He also was The original Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar, the brilliant rock/opera. It’s the London cast album and worth a listen just because the entire thing is perfect!
There are two bands that whenever I would suggest cover songs would always make the drummer go, "f**k". Black Sabbath and Deep Purple. Rush? Nobody ever had a problem. Zeppelin? Every drummer wants to do Bonham. Cream? No big deal, Ginger Baker rolls are basically fundamentals now. But Bill Ward and Ian Paice have such a unique voice and their little tricks they do are intregal to the song, the song falls apart quickly if one of those beats (placed in tricky spots in the measure) isn't right on the money, because they are cues for what is coming next. Paice, and Ward, are crucial voices for their bands sound and success.
YOU SHOULD DO THE ALBUM ( MACHINE HEAD ) 7 TRACKS, ABOUT 40 MINS. :) SAME ALBUM AS SMOKE ON THE WATER, OPENING TRACK IS : HIGHWAY STAR, THE BIGGGGG SPEEDING TICKET SONG JOSH
DEAR JOSH GO TO SPACE TRUCKING MADE IN JAPAN LIVE VERSION ,ITS NEARLY OVER 20 MINUTES WITH A LOT OF IMPROVISATIONS MADE BY THE BAND ,THERE IS A SOLO PART OF IAN PAICE WHICH IS OUT OF THIS PLANET UNBELIEVABLE AND EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE OF IAN , YOU WILL LOVE IT !!!!!!
Shame on you. There's a live video of Ian Paice doing a drum solo on the song the Mule. You can see his jazz influence on his technique. Frigging awesome. Now let's get truckin. Yeah. Peace
No sabes lo que te estas perdiendo, como ya te comentaron si de verdad quieres saber lo que es bueno escucha la versión Made in Japan.., es otro mundo. Saludos
You Goddamn right! 🫵 Bring that shit ....
Good to see you again!
