  • This is my first build of a wood fire pizza oven using Castables Refractory cement for the dome, instead of fire bricks, The front arches, chimey and floor are all fire bricks or pavers made to use in woodfire pizza ovens. But the dome is castable refractory cement.
    And the food we have cooked in it always comes out so good. The arches flooring and firebricks all mortars, insulation etc were supplied by Field Furance in Wetherill Park sydney

    Just a question, would it be okay to mix Vermiculite with refractory cement ??

    • @johnnykkkk
      @johnnykkkk  18 дней назад +1

      Well you could but it would just weaken the strength of it

    Great build Johnny, I am just ordering my castable and floor bricks how many bags of castable did you need for (I assume) 50mm thick, I am up here in Gods country so I finally sourced everything that I need ( not as easy in Brisbane as it is in Sydney or Melbourne) and will order this week, (I have guestimated 8 bags but as long as that is not short I will just make the dome thicker

    Hey, great video, what floor pavers did you use? And how have you found them with the heat?

    • @johnnykkkk
      @johnnykkkk  2 года назад

      Hi they are fire brick pavers so they are make to handle the heat

      Hi ...I they were in 1/4 pieces and came out but you could just burn them in there on the first burn 🔥 😁

    Good job! Nice to see Aust suppliers listed. Did you think about homebrew refractory cement?

    Brilliant build - what was the overall cost of materials?

    How has it been holding up? Doesn't look like you put reinforcement into the castable

    • @johnnykkkk
      @johnnykkkk  2 года назад

      Castable is fine no cracks and you are right there is no reinforcement in it ... but it is superstrong stuff

    • @johnnykkkk
      @johnnykkkk  Год назад

      Thank you for the response. Does it has to be refractory cement? And does refractory cement could do slab too?

    • @skyaprilhome
      @skyaprilhome Год назад

      If it is the standard, does it last long because of the high heat temperature of the oven?

    • @johnnykkkk
      @johnnykkkk  Год назад +1

      Ok sorry the dome is refractory cement for the heat ..which i think is rated to around 1600°c pizzas cook around 600°c ....... the slab under it is just standard cement but has the heat rated floor pavers on the slab ..cheers
