Hey Jay! I was actually never in the military. At one point in my life I was very close to joining but it just didn’t pan out. Long story haha… anyhow, I really appreciate you taking the time to leave such a wonderful compliment… thank you for that and I hope to be able to continue to helps folks out. Cheers Jay!
Hey there! What did you think of the upgrade? Imho it really improved the smoothness of the handle rotation and is worth the effort of tearing down the reel. I wish Shimano had allowed for one extra bearing in the opposite side of the worm shaft and I’m not too sure how I feel about the worm shaft being made of plastic. In any case thank you for sharing your experience and cheers!
Another informative video, Peter! Would you consider doing an upgrade video of a MingYang CL25? That would be a really cool one to see given there are hardly any videos of it and it’s a very cheap “project” reel. Cheers!
Hey there! Thank you! Hm I’m not sure about the CL25 as it’s not specifically made for BFS but I do have a W300 I need to make a video for. I have plans on upgrading that reel but it seems the parts that I’m looking for are currently out of stock =\. Do you know if they make upgrade parts for the CL25? Cheers!
@@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL, no I don’t think they make specific upgrade parts for the CL25 hence why I suggested it because it will likely have to be a hybrid/mishmash of multiple different parts from other reels to try to make it work hahaha a true project reel if you will 😅
Hmmm I’ll take a look but if there’s not a bfs specific spool it might be hard to make it into a bfs reel haha. I do recall looking at the reel once but it seems to be much smaller than the w300 which seems to be the Mingyang reel of choice for bfs applications. I’ll take a look again but not sure if I can promise anything! I appreciate the suggestion though!
Appreciate it TJ! Didn’t do much maintenance in the video but then if I had I think it’d be even longer 😆. Not sure how long people can stand to listen to me talking about reel parts haha. Cheers buddy!

Hey Ronald! Unfortunately I have no direct experience with hedgehog bearings. From what I’ve been told they are great bearings and tend to have better tolerances than roros but some of the roros have that o-ring on the outer housing that absorbs a lot of the vibration and sound from their SiC ceramic bearings. I think you can’t really go wrong with either of the companies but my gut tells me that the hedgehogs might be ever so slightly more premium. Hope that helps!!!
@@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL sounds good and thanks for that info. I tend to have a problem where if I see something is more expensive I automatically think it’s better lol. Definitely gonna be using this video as a step by step guide. Love the channel bro, super helpful for people who are deep in the bfs rabbit hole.
@@teamlary Ronald my pleasure! Sorry I couldn’t give you any first hand knowledge of the hedgehog bearings but they do come highly recommended by one of my friends who does a lot of work on reels. Hey Lee! Unfortunately, I am not certain of the 2016/17 aldebaran’s bearing size. Actually, which bearing were you referring to? It’s possible that they use the same size bearing for the worm shaft but it is unlikely that they use the same spool bearing sizes as the 22 has the silent tube bearings which are very unusual sizes. Sorry that doesn’t help much… let me know which bearings you were referring to and cheers my friend!
@@leepao6302 hey Lee! Ok so I spoke with @themultispeciesangler and he’s performed this modification. He says it is the same size and the handle knob bearings so I am guessing that it will be a 742 sized bearing. @@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL i just want to know the dimension, i know how to install it, i just wasn't sure about the size of the bearing that's all, thanks for going through trouble to help a stranger, but just subscribe is the least i can do
@@leepao6302 hey Lee! I appreciate it! If I am not mistaken I think the size will be a 4x7x2.5mm bearing. The other size might be a 4x7x2mm but that’s fairly uncommon. The 4x7x2.5mm size is used more in Shimano and daiwa for the handle knobs and that should be the size that the worm shaft gear bearing is. Hope that helps and cheers!
I have seen 2022 Aldebaran BFS reels for sale but they don't have that awesome looking finish you have, is that an aftermarket skin or something? Or a special version? Thanks much.
Hey Abel! Yea it’s a vinyl skin that I found on Amazon.co.jp. I got the skin because I was finding that the paint finish was getting small scratches quite easily not a good thing for a magnesium frame reel. Hey Steve! Thanks so much for the compliment! As for the music, you’re actually the first person to say anything about it… For “free” music I think it’s not so bad but until the channel gets a bit more steam and can start to fund itself I won’t be looking to any paid music sites. I think since this video I have lowered the volume a bit on the background music but I think the overall “vibe”(?) fits with the feel I’d like the channel to have. Kind of a laid back and relaxed approach to reviews and teardowns I suppose. That being said, I do appreciate your feedback and will consider changing things up in the future! Cheers my friend!
