I love my Jet Step. My complaints with it are the small straps, the buckle is difficult to tighten and it can dig in to your boot. I'm thinking of using a plastic or leather shim approx 2"X3" X1/8" to slide between the JS and my boot after tightening the straps. This might solve the tightness and digging issues. Thanks for all your great videos. I bought the Jet Step based on your video and have not gone back to my older version since.
Hey Bino, can you mount the jet step to s set of geko spurs? My Gekos have 2 holes right by the spike that seem to have no purpose. Just trying to see what those 2 holes are for on the steel Geckos
Thank you for all the great information in all your videos. Have you ever used a foot ascender with spurs? And if so what's your setup that works best? New to the climbing world so not sure if that's practical or not....
I've noticed the same thing. Foot ascenders (specifically my jet step) don't seem to play nice with small, flexible boots. They work great if boots have heavy sidewalls.
I like Catipillar boots and used them years. I felt like they were very comfortable while walking in trees but after using the Arbpro Anrew's they are just okay. The sole of the cats bend while walking on branches so you feet can get sore on the bottom after a few hours. Arborist boots soles are solid so your feet do not feel the roundness of the branches.
Interesting...my Jet Step has different buckles. I wear mine on the right foot and had to reverse the horizontal strap so it goes around my ankle clockwise to keep it from working loose.
I will be cutting a branch like in this video. It is about 10ft from the house but top would hit the roof. So I want to cut and use a truck to pull the fall away from the house. The diameter is about 12 inches. I will cut and use wedges to keep it from the house. my face cut will be where the truck will pull. I think as long as we take our time it will work.
Replace the junk top strap with a 5/8" cam buckle strap and you can install/adjust/remove it with ease and you won't have to leave it on your boot to keep it tight.
I tried the same thing, but then the foot ascenders don't fit too well and the rear strap rides up over the shoe onto my achilles tendon. I bought lightweight hiking boots and solved that issue.
Great video, Bino. The technical tips make a difference in making the workday a little easier and safer. Steve P says Hi.
Hi Janet, Thank you! Tell Steve hi back for me. Take care!

How long does it take to get in on?

I don't know. I have seen spike with an ascender mounted on but I can't remember who makes it.
Thanks Bino also I took a climbing class in Tulare CA
I summerzed it on my RUclips channel. Take a look if you want sometime
I had asked you about getting Certified as an arborist a while back.
@@santizoslawncare8084 I'll have a look. take care!
Could the holes be for the ct removable ascender?
Bino, do you have any videos on the differences on 12 16 24 strand ropes?
No I do not but I will keep it in mind. Thank you!
Thank you for all the great information in all your videos.

I have not tried that yet. I have seen spurs with an ascender built in.
I REPLACED THE BACK STRAP WITH A VELCRO STRAP WORKS GREAT EASY
Nice tip, Thank you!

Good point, Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the info in your video Bino. In general, how do you like the Caterpillar boots for climbing?

@@BinoH Thanks...

ALSO I WEAR TENNIS SHOES FOR MY RECREATIONAL TREE ROPE CLIMBING
Is that at all painful?
