I’ve seen Bob Draga live jamming with the most seasoned players of any instrument. With the older players he turns the heat up but with younger musicians he always takes a tiny backseat to not overshadow their talent. But this young lady can certainly make him work, lol. This video was 11 years ago. I would love to hear them reunite in 2023 and pull all the stops out. She’s awesome!!!
That is the best clarinet work I’ve ever heard. Both of them. Their improvisations gave me both a big smile and goosebumps. Would have like to hear her sing.
Superb clarinettists. Love that high soaring style of Bob Draga and the amazing talent of the young Chloe, who plays low register with ease. That's something you don't hear much of these days. This is another one for my playlist. Many thanks.
Bob Draga loves to play with Chloe and it shows. Bob is so generous with his time and talent, especially with the next generation. We are in good hands with Chloe!
I'm of course Not an expert and I don't listen to jazz clarinet constantly but the very first thing that came to my mind was.....Not since Pete Fountain. 😊😊😊
I'm surprised no one commented she's 24 and he's what, 60? She makes me want to throw my sax under the bus. She is amazing. You have musicians all around your town 70 years old who doesn't qualify to carry here instrument to the gig.
Boo Hargis. Somebody did say that she was 19 when this was recorded. Stunning! As for under the bus, I had that feeling ever since getting fixed on Goodman. However, I'll leave my saxes & clrt. for somebody else to enjoy and throw myself under the same bus! Naw..That's a bit silly and ungrateful. I've had a life-time (Well, not quite, yet) blowing around Eu and UK. Played in Memphis & the Big Easy. Not in that league but can blow a bit! Had some OK write-ups. Don't chuck it under a bus, especially if it's a Selmer M6. Send it to me. Regards and good ...A Limey Reed man.
Today is Jan 29th 2019 and we have 10 Fools who give this a Thumbs Down !! How could anybody NOT like this great video showing the immense talent this young Lady, Chole has. She is backed by such a great ensemble as well.Sometimes I can't understand some people in being so Bloody mean in gratitude when it is so well deserved. Excellent.
I love performances like this. It's silly to argue which of them is better. They both have a wonderful sound - but different, and that's what makes it interesting.
This young lady is amazing I started playing when I was 7 now a 70 something her talent is exciting! I prefer classical and big band this could be very fun.
I disagree with the previous comments. The control, the creativity, the consistency of the melodic development, the surprise fluctuations -- Chloe is the star here. Draga is brilliant and technically flawless, but so is Chloe, but she's also beyond that. There's the soul and spirit of the music, which she seems to effortlessly breathe out through the reed. Every moment seems musically rich but also new and unexpected. She's a frickin' natural, that girl. You know, it's too bad jazz is not as important as it was in the 30s, 40s, 50s. If it was, she would be a superstar.
+casmoo Which brings every intelligent man to the same point ; we're all crazy about Chloe, and quite justifiably. Add to her musicianship the girl's immense natural charm as well as the sweet little retro jigs, she is a unique experience. Wish she was mine!
Mark harrison. What a nice thing to say about her. I wish that I were 19 again and playing like that. Never mind the playing...Just make me 19 again..I'll deal with the playing myself. M.O.L.
casmoo y get rid of those damn little window you popped up I don't know who the hell designed this discard, and window but it's a piece of crap and I wish you'd stop bringing it up on my iPad far as I'm concerned whoever's doing it could go straight to hell
I agree, as a musician myself,(Jazz) I was blown away by the maturity of Chloe's clarinet, so young and talented, this girl is tops, we need to hear much much more of her, Thank you Chloe.
A sin to be so creative and technically competent at 19. Both establish a high baseline for improvisation. Chloe is an incredible talent as her later singing well show. She also plays a very interestingly phrased tenor saxophone.
+Mark harrison Chloe was 19 when this video was made. Read her bio - she had already won all kinds of accolades and awards by the time this performance.. (plus she is pretty) www.chloefeoranzo.com/chloefeoranzo.com/Biography.html
I am in love with this, but I have to admit that this is not the best thing to listen to when you already have a headache. I think I will come back in a couple hours.
She is a brilliaNT musician. She is wunderbar. She is so sexy and smart.Sge is a wonder. She is the best. She can play all day long. She is so unique that it is not even funny.Bravo,Bravo, bravo,Thank you very much.We love you ,guys.
Maybe it’s just me but the missing element for all the technical virtuosity (or maybe because of it!) is swing. Take the rhythm section away and not clear how much melodically motivated rhythm remains. Which seems to be especially so for clarinet players intent on going all over the instrument (and where melodic progression and resolution also doesn’t seem to get much of a look in).
Concerning intonation, rhythm, phrasing, and constructing a climax in a solo, you can hear the difference between "just okay for that age" and "first rate". Although I admit Bob Draga doesn't look quite as sweet as Chloe.
+MrJimmienoone Concerning intonation, rhythm, phrasing, and constructing a climax in a solo, you can tell the difference between your tone deaf, rhythmically challenged "just okay for your age " comment and really outstanding clarinet playing. Chloe is every bit Draga's equal and even MORE creative, which is precisely why he told the other musicians to work with her on that stop time solo for an extra chorus. And evidently, you didn't notice that Draga copied her "climax" almost note for note at the end . So much for "just okay for her age" climaxes. "Just OK for his age" is more like it. Don't flatter yourself, your name sake would be ashamed to be associated with such a stupid comment. Those who can play, play, and those who can't become jazz critics.
Have you ever recorded video at a live festival? If you have, you will understand that your question is at best ungracious. If you haven't, all I will say is that I and my camera are subordinate to the musicians and the way they are set up. And a simple "Thank you for sharing this video" would have sufficed.

There are so many performances of this tune, but for me this one is the finest 👌🏻😍
That is the best clarinet work I’ve ever heard. Both of them. Their improvisations gave me both a big smile and goosebumps.
Would have like to hear her sing.
This just makes me smile. And Chloe's little dance about 4:40-ish - unexpected and adorable!
Hot damn there is nothing like that great clarinet sound!! I could listen to this for hours!!!
Amazing Chloe and Bob
Superb clarinettists. Love that high soaring style of Bob Draga and the amazing talent of the young Chloe, who plays low register with ease. That's something you don't hear much of these days. This is another one for my playlist. Many thanks.
2 great Clarinet players. Chloe is friggin amazing for her age at this time
Bob Draga loves to play with Chloe and it shows. Bob is so generous with his time and talent, especially with the next generation. We are in good hands with Chloe!
The pianist is fantastic, melodic swinging and great backing.
Guitar player is in the pocket....
And so is Bob Draga!
Both clarinetists and the band are excellent and thanks for sharing.
Mark Shane is my hero
Ah! je réécoute, quel talent !
J'aimerais jouer aussi bien que toi !!
Bravo, bravo ...
Dominique ( clarinettiste )
When's the last time that you've seen two absolutely fearless clarinet virtuosos?
After six Jack Daniels, I'm a fearless clarinet virtuoso.
Virtuosi
I'm of course Not an expert and I don't listen to jazz clarinet constantly but the very first thing that came to my mind was.....Not since Pete Fountain. 😊😊😊
I used to think Chloe was ridiculously talented but now I realise she's better than that.
For me Chloe is a superstar !!! Охренеть можно!
I'm surprised no one commented she's 24 and he's what, 60? She makes me want to throw my sax under the bus. She is amazing. You have musicians all around your town 70 years old who doesn't qualify to carry here instrument to the gig.
Comparisons are odious.

One of the best renditions I've enjoyed so far.

If I could, I would follow Bob Draga wherever he plays. Great rendition.

But not to fast
Amazing
I've got to add on to the previous comment. That Draga's solo was fantastic. Chloe is too. And so is that piano player...don't know his name.
Pianist is Mark Shane.
casmoo
His name is Shane...Rhymes with yiddish pronunciation of Schoen or Schön and "explain" in the lyric.
CLARINET WAR !
Fucking loved this. God DAMN they're good.
Класная кларнетистка талант в ней а не в голой одежде и фанере .счастья тебе и восхищения как красиво ты себя и естественно ведеш.
Cet ensemble joue admirablement .
¡ Magnífico !!
The dude plays like Menuhin. The young lady plays like Grappelli.

Boy, what a doll! Chloe may not (yet) be as fluent as Bob Draga but meanwhile she's just about the sweetest little sweetie in sweetsville.

Is this the same Bob Draga who played at Woody Riley’s & Tilly O’Tool’s in Clearwater Florida?
I'd guess so: I have never met another musician with that name.
Pete Fountain would have liked it!
Chloe always a treet....but what I like in an artist is they enjoy what they do...

Who cares !

Chloe: 1--Draga: 0 Chloe buried him. Draga is excellent but, still, Chloe buried him overall in technique and improv performance.
Wonderful !!!
amazing
Wonderful!
