Hey, happy birthday, bro!!! I am new to Chess. Guess what. Within a month, your strategies and knowledge has helped me a lot to win some of my friends who have been playing it for years! I can't thank you enough for your well-explained videos. They're totally precious. Wishing you the best birthday ever! Cheers to playing Chess!🍻
Many Happy Returns.. Thanks for sharing all your Chess knowledge.. this means a lot to us as beginners as well as advanced players.. Stay blessed 🙏🏻 Love from Indonesia
In the line that you talk about at 4:57 where white reinforces the center with c3 and we play cxd4, what do you suggest if our opponent plays Qxd4 instead of cxd4 I looked at it in the database and it looks like maybe Qc7 followed by bb7 if they play Qxd5? Thoughts?
Im so glad i found your channel. I play very similarly to your style (albeit many ELO lower 😂) and even though your channel deserves to be bigger, its not yet so all of these tactics become successful for me!
OMG!! i studied this opening this morning and started playing this afternoon and i’m getting win after win. i moved from 1580 and i’m now at 1630 and still playing HAPPY BELATED BDAY GM IGOR
I'd guess you just drop your Queen back to a6, still protecting Bishop so it maintains the threat on White's Queen though from there cannot be attacked again by any pieces, forcing their Queen to move enabling the g2 pawn/h1 Rook skewer, and still able to move in to f1.
I think then your knight can just take c3. And if they then retake your knight, then you take the bishop with your Queen. So then you’re up the exchange a bishop for a pawn.
I've been using Russeau for quite a while and it works somewhat well, although there are some nasty downsides. Might I try this one? It seems that white is going to knight out very often instead of pushing forward...
I have the same reaction as well with white often knight to c3 which makes this set up not work so well. But I'm also very low rank so that may have an impact as well
Very trappy line. With the e4 opening, 1 question I have Is what if white plays 6. Nc3 after 5...Qa5? This still blocks the check and protects whites bishop on b5. Or am I missing something else?
Hi Igor. Love your channel. Question: after black moves the knight to d5, white does not have to respond with d4. They can play c5, chasing the knight again and the whole thing falls apart. How to respond? chrs, Vic
I am thinking white will play knight c3 since there is no defender for black knight which kinda invalidates pawn b5?...not been through the entire video yet
1600 player so getting opponents in that range - I've tried this twice now and weirdly both times it's been 1.e4-Nf6 2. e5-Nd5 3. Bc4 Not sure how to respond I've played Nb6 and just played chess but curious if that 3rd move breaks the trap or if there are any ways to keep the themes going
These kinds of traps, although a lot of fun, rely on opponent's blunders. Pc3 and Qxd4 give white a fine position. Before trying these things, you need a plan for when they fail.
I bet your cat would totally approve of my "Zeller Ice Queen" (in the blackmar diemer gambit) as the "main line" is about 3 points bad for white, but is a rare line with around 70% chances in every other line. an online troll griped that it's "unsound", parroting the old GM talking point, but any time you're winning 70% or more of your games, the word unsound doesn't apply. gambiteers like risk and i'm so glad i stumbled on this as I was having a hard time trying to find a repertoire against 1.d4 to go with the albin (few gambits) and with indian/benko, but THIS, like the rousseau which this kings gambiteer so wants to get rid of the scandinavian for, looks like just what i need to stop effing stonewalling. i hate pawns in the way even if the stonewall is very playable if you don't mind 50+ move games. thanks for sharing, i'm cobbling a book out of this video and lichess right now. the carnage in the MAIN LINES is awesome! i'll put up with 1 in 20 painful losing games for 19 fun ones any day! BTW i'm NEVER playing the alekhine! i hate hypermodern everything! this looks better as a 1.d4 repertoire that can't be side stepped
I keep trying a computer on "Easy" mode and doesn't fall for the trap. I guess I have to try it on a human game. Thanks for the videos by the way. I suck at chess so everything helps
It's a cool trap but I feel even weak players can sense it's a bad move (the bishop takes the free pawn). Common knowledge that your bishop will just get kicked next move (at minimum), and potential for complications early. Maybe blitz chess this could be a common mistake tho.
He mentions a name at 4:36, not clearly, but I eventually figured out he said "O'Sullivan Gambit." After 1. d4 the general opening is called the A40 Polish Defense in my source.
I hardly ever (1 or 2 in 100) see a two pawn move opening by white (playing ten minute games at 1000). So sadly, I doubt I will ever be able to use this. Thanks anyway.
Practice solid opening habits and crush your opponents for not playing properly then. At 1000, traps are less necessary than practicing spotting poor moves than can be taken advantage of . Advantages come from material, position and time. Space and controlling the center. Development of pieces. Planning attacks that don’t compromise your defense and making a solid position *before* attacking. Good luck, youll get there!
@@Aperson-kq7pt Wow. Non-bullet games, over 1400, huh? Jeez. Thanks for that. PS - I'd have to believe that blitz games are going to account for the lion's share of that 40%... (scratches chin...) I wonder what the stat would be if we eliminated bullet _and_ blitz games for players over 1400... Cheers!
@@divided_and_conquered1854 Just over half of the games played at a rating of above 1400 on the lichess database that have a time control of rapid or longer played e5. The reason why it’s the most played move is because it is the best - it takes more central space with tempo, and stockfish 14 NNUE gives white a +0.7 advantage at depth 45. Happy bday. Love your videos. Im going to try this at club tonight. Wish me luck 🤣🤣
At 3:04 what if white plays nighta3 to attack the black queens as well ?
I'd guess you just drop your Queen back to a6, still protecting Bishop so it maintains the threat on White's Queen though from there cannot be attacked again by any pieces, forcing their Queen to move enabling the g2 pawn/h1 Rook skewer, and still able to move in to f1.
Queen a6 ????
Many happy returns of the day sir !!
I recommend you to use this gambit in a OPEN Classical tournament Igor.
Love your vids, watch every one when I get the notification, always good stuff. Bought the course as well, it's great!
What if they play knight to C3 and block the check as well as protect the bishop?
I think then your knight can just take c3. And if they then retake your knight, then you take the bishop with your Queen. So then you’re up the exchange a bishop for a pawn.
Happy Birthday. Thank you for the great content 🎂

Pb5 doesn't necessarily stop Pc4 by white as he says in video. If pxp by black, then simply BxP by white, developing a piece.
Happy B-Day Igor 🎉🎉🎉
Happy birthday master.Very helpful
nice defense: unusual, deceptive (looks like alekhine's def at first) and easy to remember.
Very trappy line. With the e4 opening, 1 question I have Is what if white plays 6. Nc3 after 5...Qa5? This still blocks the check and protects whites bishop on b5. Or am I missing something else?
Would it be 6... Nd5xNc3 7. bxNc3 .... Qxc3+
Hi Igor. Love your channel. Question: after black moves the knight to d5, white does not have to respond with d4. They can play c5, chasing the knight again and the whole thing falls apart. How to respond? chrs, Vic
I love this gambit, This opening is very useful and trappy. I love you :D
very Happy Birthday Igor 🎉🎂
Igor has taken me in blitz from 800 to 1300 in one year. TY Igor, Igor Nation rulez
What do you do if after c3, cxd4, then Queen recaptures instead of pawn?
So what happens queen takes pawn on d4, instead of bishop takes knight? Any traps there?
Ha ha ha !!! I agree with the cat!
Happy birthday!! And many more young man. Keep up the humor, chess can be boring.
What if white does 4. Qg4?
With the Alekhine white always plays c4 after I play ...Ne4 so I never get the chance to play ...b4 to set the trap
I find that with so many traps, they almost always play the wrong move, that avoids it by accident.
Same here, never get to use this gambit
Happy Birthday! What's the name of this gambit, again?
Thanks for tutorial...go on.
Black grob opening ! The Borg!

I always get opponents who play 3. C4. How do you handle that?
You just have to learn how to play the Alekhine Defence.
6:25 if Nc3, white blocks the check and protects the bishop!
But allows pxN, pxp, Qxp+ threatening the black rook.
And what happens if White blocks your Qh5+ with his knight to c3 so that the Black Queen cannot take the bishop ????
After black plays queen to a5, what about white playing knight to c3, protecting the bishop?
Knight takes knight
You take the knight on c3 with your knight on d5 after they they take back you take the bishop
What if white plays knight a3
Happy Birthday IGOR.
Ive been trying this. When they play d4 i offer the knight pawn. They take it and i go on to win. However, most of the time they play c4 instead.
What happens after 5 c3 cxd4 6 Qxd4?
Happy bthday Igor, I wish U all the best & more and more happy years of life & chess!

how can I save this clip?
What if instead of White playing 3. d4, White plays 3. c4 threatening the Knight immediately?
if this happens, take whites d4 pawn, baiting taking that knight, and if it is taken, then the same queen trick is allowed
@@Scythe5609 This doesn't answer the question as @Michael Fischer was referring to 1. e4 Nf6 2. e5 Nd5 3.c4, with 3.c4 being a very popular move.
You just have to learn how to play the Alekhine defence.

Last gambit does not make any sense, because everyone plays c4 only and almost never D4 and there is no variation presented with c4 move
Happy Birthday!

On fire!
Its really great steps . 90% winning chances.
I never see players push the king pawn to attack the knight on f6 but rather defend their pawn with their own knight 🤷
🎉🎊 Belated B-day!
Pawn could take eponsont and still get the check
For En passant the black pawn would need to be on the same rank so no this would be possible
Its pronounced “en croissant” 🥐
on peasant
@@peter-klausnikolaus4823 I was so shook when I heard Hikaru pronounce it like that bro😭

Didn't address 4.a4...
I just played it, and white did play c4 anyway, and I lost badly.
why not en passant? What am I missing?
@@snailwolf6483 I don't understand your question?
No one's going to push their pawn to e5 chasing a naked knight... 9 times outta 10, they'll defend the pawn on d4.
The most common move on the lichess database is e5 (played over 40% of the time) and played over half the time in non-bullet games rated over 1400.
