Maestro Roberts was on tons of 50s and 60 s recordings, including The Beverly Hillbillies. Look up the secret trick for the high notes of Ellie's Theme.

Bluegrass legends Flatt and Scruggs did "The Ballad of Jed Clampett" theme from the Beverly Hillbillies.But Roberts and Tommy Tedesco did trade off guitar tracks for the theme from the "Mannix" TV show among many other ones.

I only remembered this as the Munsters theme but now it definitely sounds like a surfer song! When I was a kid I never associated it with music from The Beach Boys

Written and performed, by Jack Marshall. The same person who did, the soundtrack, for my favorite movie, 'The Giant Gila Monster' (1959).
