As a native flyers fan .mark recchi was a absolute beast .it was ashame when we traded him to Montreal ,but it brought in my favorite hockey player of all time John leclair ,who should be in the hall of fame..sad thing for recchi was he was there in the early 90’s for the rebuilding .if he was on that flyers team between 95-98 they would have won at least one cup.they need scoring from a second line to help brindamour.
He threw me a puck @ coyotes game when I was a little kid, he was with Boston at the time.. And I still have the puck to this day. I'll always remember the interaction!
When I get asked what was missing from the 2013 Bruins team that lost to Chicago I said Recchi. He was clutch and his locker room presence was invaluable. Great player and teammate.
Recchs is my all time favorite player. In my eyes he was everything a hockey player should be. I'm glad he finally got the nod for the HHOF that he deserves. Edit: And if I remember correctly, he's one of two players to win a cup with 3 different teams in 3 different decades.
One thing that is worth mentioning is that for a very long time, Mark Recchi was the league's running iron man. When he was traded to Montreal, he took a morning flight from Phily so he could play in the team's first game with him officially on the payroll that same night, and hence not break his streak. His streak puts him at 16th overall.
he was my 2nd favorite player when i was young (i'm a habs fan), always had a soft spot for him, great passer, can score, great power play guy and what a career he had
Even if it was only a brief time, it was so significant Crosby had guys like Recchi, Guerin, Lemiuex, etc around him for his first couple years I believe significantly helped his development
As a pens fan in the early 90s he was my favorite player. The ‘recking ball’ as he was called. Too bad he was traded away on my birthday in 1992. I was devastated.
Loved to dislike this guy. Played for a lot of teams I didn't like at the time and was incredibly talented on those teams. It's all in good fun tho. I have a lot of respect for this man who put so much into his craft.
Everyone is late to the party as a life long flyers fan.. I used to play hockey with Valerie zelepukins son and he played with the flyers for a few years and he used to let me come in the locker room with his son to say hi and meet the players . When I met recchi I could hardly speak and I uttered out that he was my favorite player and that I wear number 8 on my hockey team cause of him. Recchi then gave me his jersey and signed it and talked to me for a few minutes . He was the nicest dude and will always be one of my favorite players to grace the game
As a Canes fan, I point out because most people don't get it: 05-06 Canes were STACKED. The Recchi rental was to put him on a line with Doug Weight (another player most forget). We are not winning the cup this year (maybe might hit the 1st round play-offs but I doubt it - I do think we will be better than 17-18 with most the drama gone from the dressing room).
Lets not let the career of Mark Recchi distract you from the important news of "No more keg stands" for the Stanley Cup. See what you did Capitals...see what you did. :)
A lot like selanne's career, except two more cups. Longevity, a lot of points early with some bad years mixed in between. Then almost out of NHL but makes comeback and solid finish to his career.
Mark Recchi was a really good player for a very long time.
Recchi EMBODIED CONSISTENCY!🇨🇦🏒
Recchi's career point ratio .93(1,533/1,652) proves his consistency.🇨🇦🏒

that bruins teams had a ton of injuries
@@justinalley3399 they did in 2011 as well
Amazing career for Recchi. Very consistent underrated player

1 of 11 players with 3 cups with 3 different teams, and I believe 1 of 2 to do it in 3 different decades. The other being Joe Nieuwendyk

Great player. I recall when he was traded to Montreal for none other than....John Leclair and Eric Dejardin!
Andyuf2 Philly probably won that trade, even tho Mark Recchi is the best player in the trade. Funny how that works
Don't forget Marcel Dionne's kid, Gilbert! No trade without that critical piece.
Mark is my relative so I love watching his old highlights! Thanks for honoring his great career!great video.
hof player that produced every where he went....great long career never heard a bad thing about him really....
Even if it was only a brief time, it was so significant Crosby had guys like Recchi, Guerin, Lemiuex, etc around him for his first couple years I believe significantly helped his development
Loved Recchi as a Flyer!
2011 Championship year, he made some amazing plays.
As a pens fan in the early 90s he was my favorite player. The ‘recking ball’ as he was called. Too bad he was traded away on my birthday in 1992. I was devastated.
Led the league 2000 in assists with 68.
Loved him in Montreal always liked his style
wow I did not know mark recchi had so much success ! Thank for your video :) !
Nice one! Love these

Something you forgot to mention: he was the last player who played in the NHL in the 1980s.
I'd love for you to cover Lindros, I think his peak over a 3 year period had a PPG only behind Lemieux and Gretzky (been awhile since I read the stat)
Without looking it up, I want to say that that stands true for all of his years as a flyer.
And in 2000 he wasn't a league All-Star only because both Jagr and Bure had fantastic years in spite of the Dead Puck Era.
Mats Sundin plz
That's Dr. Mark Recchi!
A video on Michel Goulet would be nice !
How can you not mention that only 11 men have scored more points than Recchi. THAT ALONE should have made him a first ballot hall of famer.
(@10:15) "the only teams that he played for & didn't win a stanley cup with, besides atlanta, are philly & montreal"...*forgot tampa

Late to the party, but Doug Weight was one of the best passers of all time.

They ask people not too. They didn't say you couldn't. Keg stands for everyone!
They can’t do a thing about it
You know who was big on Mark Recchi from the get-go? Scotty Bowman. He knew something. ;)
A lot like selanne's career, except two more cups. Longevity, a lot of points early with some bad years mixed in between. Then almost out of NHL but makes comeback and solid finish to his career.
I think i'm gonna trade Messier to PHIL for Recchi on NHL95-i kinda forgot about him.
As a Pens fan I liked him, but I was very happy when they traded him for Tocchet.
And to think if he stayed with the pens in 08, those finals may have been different for my wings.
I think you should put the players age next to the season
"Wrecching ball"!!
Who would most people see as winning the Tocchet for Recchi trade in the long run? Personally was more a Tocchet guy myself
St Kr Ulf was the year before in the Francis trade. This year it was Kjell Samuelsson, Ken Wregget, etc...
"and dass not bad"
😊
Great player, a real tough son of a gun.
Do Steven Stamkos Tonight
Have a small stack of his cards too. Upper Deck rookie on his butt.
Although I see where he was coming from, I don’t really like recchi and the comments he made about the 2011 Canucks.
It was really classless when he said Pacioretty was milking his injury after being knocked out by Chara
Hey don't disrespect the great Dr.Recchi
He didn't win a cup with tampa either
