  • Students read out a passage on the board aloud together. The teacher then removes words, asking students to recall the missing parts of the passage each time they read it again.
The beauty of this activity is that with shyer and quieter classes, this gets them at least using the language and it's a great way to build their confidence. After a while, they become so preoccupied with remembering the missing words that they completely lose any inhibitions about speaking English!
Teacher: Jane Gordon (English for Asia)
Students from: Lingnan Hang Yee Secondary School
Director: Angelina Komar (English for Asia)

This is a nice attempt. Chorus activity is fine but then the teacher could've tried the activity individually as well to see how far each student benefitted from the activity. She could've got them to write down the sentences, too, as an additional learning activity.
I don't know how well this would work if a running passage were used.
    This is innovative enough, though.

I have just seen your video.
I would like to practice teaching my students in English club by this method.

This looks like a good warmer but I have 18 students and the classroom is quite big. I don't know how to manage 18 students talking at the same time. Maybe doing this in pairs so instead of 18 students, only 9 students talk and the other 9 listen to see if they are correct or not.
