    This game was fun. I think Sunseeker turned out better but that isn't surprising when you had more time. Even with the controls feeling a bit floating the platforming in this game was well structured and i liked how it progressed in difficulty.
    Maybe after a few jams of platformers you can combine all of the mechanics into a single game. It would be interesting to see what type of levels you come up with.

    Game of the jam

  • @Stmate03
    @Stmate03 7 месяцев назад

    I'm a bit late to this video but yeah as a first timer for LD myself it really gets tight at the end and there is a lot you have to remove or you could've done better at the end, but to me the general feedback from people and just finding out what could be better, or just the idea to use it as a prototype for something greater feels that bad feeling of: it could've been better, because yes it could've but with work it could be better in the future!
    (also I will leave a review and comment on your game but from video it looks amazing!)

    • @mz_eth
      @mz_eth  7 месяцев назад

      oh thank you! Yeah whenever I do feedback for peoples 48 hour submissions I keep coming back to, "maybe this or that would have helped, but you probably didn't have the time" Some of these submissions you forget how tight the time really was because they come across so well

    • @Stmate03
      @Stmate03 7 месяцев назад

      @@mz_eth Indeed, a lot of people leave pretty positive feedbacks about certain aspects of the game, and leave comments about things that could be better, it still feels nice to be a part of the event, my game is a crash fiesta, and still people find ways to say something nice, especially when it's your first time in a new engine (I recently started learning Godot), it's great, and the feedback on things that could be better helps you learn! like how you learned the controls are very floaty and next time you make the friction value higher! So in the end you learn what is good, learn what can be better and it's a learning experience so worth trying it when you got the time and energy!

    • @mz_eth
      @mz_eth  7 месяцев назад

      @@Stmate03 Absolutely, its funny because as frustrating the floaty-ness was to miss, I immediately adjusted it for my main project. What was your game btw? I definitely want to play it. I played around 30, but ludum dare is so huge

      @@mz_eth My game is called NarrowLabs Rumble, a silly "Doom-like" FPS with minor resource management, I really hope it works out fine for you to try it, and I'm already working on a post-jam version to add way more into it (at the expense of our main project... whoops, now I see some similarities in our development process :D)

    This thumbnail is much better!
    The title is good, and the font is so much clearer. I do wish you put the main character's body in the thumbnail though. Showing the transition between an empty body to a dashing ghost into a body with the ghost inside would be ideal imo!
    All that said, your video content is great as always, so you just need to work a bit more on the clickbaity/interesting thumbnails ;)

    The whole point of game jams is to try and make a game out of your comfort zone. But so far, you have been making very similar top down games. Don’t get me wrong, they are fun, but it would be cool to see you make a different type of game.

    • @mz_eth
      @mz_eth  7 месяцев назад +2

      My first platformer ever was the last jam, then this time I tried to challenge what it means to be a platformer, given I only have 48 hours. Part of me wants to keep the perspective/art consistent, I was thinking maybe I could give away all these game jam assets for other people to make ideas with. But maybe that’s a pipe dream and I’m being stupid :/

    • @dragofand
      @dragofand 7 месяцев назад

      Imo, game jams are just about having fun with the limitations given (or sometimes there aren't limitations, and it's just about making something). Sure, for you it might be making things outside of your comfort zone, but for others it can just be about creating something. Plus, this was apparently his 2nd game jam. No need to immediately jump from what they're used to doing on such a big time crunch.

    • @jijigri9224
      @jijigri9224 7 месяцев назад +2

      I think trying different concepts is definitely "stepping out of your comfort zone" even if the perspective is the same
