You should make a gun that shoots dynamite
I love devlogs! It's where I get most of my ideas. This helped me come up with a killer idea that I really can't wait to start on!! Thank youu!!!
Did you ever hear of GIT? :P -- So you can just DELETE code you don't need, give it a nice comment so you know what you deleted and commit. And if EVER you decide you need it, just recover the code.
Hi I hope you read this comment I'm in stage of frustration how to implement jump & platforming in 2D isometric in Godot do you mind sharing in detail how do you implement the jump part? messing with the y axis's speed while doing a jump, while moving vertically is really frustrating
is your game top down or side scrolling?
@mz_eth its top down isometric, exactly like your game in this video
@ huh well in this project I was just tweening the player from the shadow sprite then back down. With a bool determining if the player was on the floor
@@mz_eth oooh I thought you really calculating the height etc. but the bool determining is on floor or not is smart ok I will try to implement the same thing and see if it will work for my game but there is an extra mechanic in my game that might be a bit different I'm planning to allow the player to jump to a different height floor, might be very similar to cross code game or the one in this video ruclips.net/video/87zma6j0cQ4/видео.html
That's quite the big iron on his hip
i love you pixel art , how did you learn to draw in such short time ?
The lighting effects on this game are very impressive.
Fun fact! If you decrease the video speed to 0.25x, then mz_eth sounds really drunk
I’m poor can you please make a free version of the Patreon lighting tutorial
trying brilliant now and enjoying it a lot so far!
Currently, I'm just teaching myself everything except for the coding.
Warframe; microwave Makes affected area larger.
gr8 vid
Probably the most underrated game dev RUclipsr I have ever seen
Please tell me you're using Git
You should try to make a 3D game.
not sure how but an effect that make someone explode on death
As a guitar player of 7 years, I can say that I have never and will never learn how to read music.
why are you on godot 3.5?
Now for anyone here, this might look like a pretty good game. But from a somewhat experienced game dev, I can tell you that this looks REALLY F***ING GOOD. Keep up the great work!
Complex but maybe a status effect that makes enemies turn against other enemies? Or maybe a status effect that basically makes an enemy cursed, and upon killing the enemy it explodes and deals damage to nearby enemies and maybe even applies the curse onto them.
Did you add your project to a source control like Git yet? It really helps when removing stuff, because you know you can always go back to older versions of the project and reapply the removed code. Also it's a nice backup in case your PC corrupts, breaks or gets stolen.
bro why is the background music so good???
Game devs trying not to restart their project challenge:impossible
Underated effect in my opinion is some way to make the enemies “off balance” or “less stable” meaning they can be knocked back farther or even into walls and other enemies dealing damage
I love your wheel of game design ideas. You know what I use to decide which game I was gonna make next. I asked my wife who has zero interests in games. Random questions. I asked her to tell me the first thing that pops in her head. Like, what type of character, Male / woman /animal or creature and discribe it. What Ability or weapon. What Setting or place. Then I just try to make something out of that. I find it to be a nice challenge.
Just wanted to say thanks. This video got me to open my project up again for the first time in a couple weeks and get back to work <3
@@mimic-dev I love that! You got this!
*Rubber banded:* You (the player) shoot out rubber bands. If they hit the enemy they get knocked back and the rubber band falls on the ground. If you miss the rubber band falls on the ground regardless. If touched by the rubber band the enemy gets entangled. When the enemy tries to walk away from the rubber band he slows down more and more until he suddenly gets thrown back in the opposite direction of where he was walking (a.k.a. towards and beyond the rubber band). The rubber band has a random chance of breaking every time (maybe like a 30% chance or something?). When it breaks the enemy gets stunned for a short while and the rubber band disappears.
I always liked the idea of the clapping monkeys in COD zombies and charm like statuses. The idea is to have an item or weapon that charms or attracts enemies either to you (the player) or the item in question. This could be a great strategic item if you need som breathing room to reload or get a chest. I guess you could also have the reverse where the item repulses or pushes enemies away from you or the item. TLDR; Displacement is fun
This games looks like soul knight but miles better
yes Hi you 🤜
heatstroke for players in like a desert area where standing in the sun for too long gives you heatstroke until you go back under shade or go into water
Attack of the geese: enemy will gain +5% speed (speed in everything) and run around randomly + no reloads (I’m guessing there are reloads) If the player has this it’s the same as enemy, but without randomly running around
What about a fear effect? Like simply the enemy runs opposite of you for a couple of seconds
Weakness could decrease enemy damage
Keep up the great work indie devs are the goat
Chance to dodge or chance the enemy misess. We love gambling!
this game is very similiar to gungeon
Lifesteal. For example if an enemy is shot like 3 times then you get health and they lose health
I have a idea, but if there is a status effect for making the enemy go insane and attacking its own Also, is there a way I can get this game right now?
Allow some enemies to to give you a status called Zoomies that make you so fast you can’t control your character
Bleed has been a personal favorite of mine, you can go down the path where if an enemy has bleed, they take damage while moving or have it where like the freeze, once the meter fills up it takes a huge chunk of damage out of the enemy
Oh that’s interesting one is like a elden ring bleed burst and the other would be more of maybe darkest dungeon bleed. Hmm both very doable
Make a dance effect so you can make your enemies dance till they drop
Haha if it wasn’t a 2d pixel art game where I had to draw all those frames of dance animation for EVERY enemy
Confusion: Enemy will attack whichever entity is closest to it for a time. Whether it's the player, other enemies, or breakable objects.
Okay I see confusion and love getting suggested, I think this could be done if I start now and make every enemy use a modular “target” system. At first I thought no way, but the long I think about it the more I think it could work
Woah that’s actually a really cool idea!!!
Rage could be a more chaotic alternate version of this if you'd like. In addition to attacking anything in their way they also get increased movement speed and attack speed, along with more sporadic movement.
a Charm status effect that makes you take less damage from the enemy and you do more damage to them. or it will make said enemy fight for you like a summon
Nuclear radiation status effect pls I beg
What should it do??
Poison but it spreads. Or random mutation, bad or good.
@ slows overtime as increased exposure also doing increased damage overtime also add a gyger counter sound affect for it
I was having the same issues with one of my games. Stats effects always end up pretty samey, but these look pretty great, love the idea for flame! It seems a lot better than just standard burn effects.
Prob hard to code but a status effect that makes the enemy friendly and attack for you
This.
I really like it when statuses have an effect on stats along with the effect (example would be pokemon burn lowering phys attk by half)
Great video and it's excellent to see you realise a restart was needed. It's looking awesome and I hope it goes well. Also you mentioned you used to always comment out code that you no longer need. Are you using source control because if you are then all those changes would be saved in the history and you can delete until your hearts content.
