- I wanted to do a devlog for my game, but as I talked about the journey I realized I had a lot to say over the past 3 years. Even though I call myself an "artist" first, all this stuff is so new to me. I think its really helpful to reflect on the past and see how far we've come

You literally have so many skills that game designers desperately want. Background in art and music, plenty of experience working with developers, and then you started learning Godot too. Indie dev is your calling!
Ahh thank you!! I really hope it is, it’s been a long strange path discovering game dev
All your art looks super cool. The atmosphere and effects in your newer stuff is great too.
Thank you so much, I definitely have a lot of growing to do, but looking back like this makes me really motivated
Its always cool to see transparency in developers videos. I really appreciate that you can look back and objectively criticize your self in past projects. That kind of stuff truly grows people and makes you even better! I hope this new project for you is fun and a good learning experience!
love watching this stuff, i hope you keep enjoying it, id love to stick around for the ride!
Thank you for this!!! I have nooo background on game dev beyond some light experience on programming but seeing how you got through this is making me feel inspired to do more, even if just for fun!
As I said before, I love your work and motivation 😍 Really happy to see longer dev log coming
Thanks I'm definitely trying :D
This was amazing! So glad to be on board as a fan!
so cool! as someone who also started with music i will for sure be following this!
It looks hella good! Excited to see where you take this :)
Nice devlog, I'm really impressed with the smoke effects in the game! Would you consider doing a tutorial or breakdown on how you achieved that effect? I'd love to learn more about it. Thanks and keep up the great work!
its really impressive art ngl it feels like an experienced artist made it i tried learning pixel art but it was confusing to me i'm just saying ure doing a good job may be u'll make better games in the future if not overscoped gl
Its quite refreshing to see someone come from a background in art before coding, as the art is the hardest part for me, ide say my art is mediocre but i find it hard to stay consistent 1 minutes im 3d modelling the next im in aesprite and suddenly find my self in illustrator lol, great work looks great
Thank you, yeah it can be really hard to stick with one thing, especially in game dev when you need to know a lot about many different mediums. Keep with it though!
@@mz_eth thank you, you to
Lovel to see that iis possible to have nearly a whole game already setup ( and worried about overscopingthem) as you see comin alot of code comin towards you and with every changed mob / added feature maybe more code :).A lot of us go the other way around. finding balance is always hard!
Hey man, I really love your art. Both Diablo and Multiplayer Shooter have cool pieces of art. Also played your first game, it was quite fun and had some personality already. I am pretty sure you will be able to make cool games in future. You stuck along for quite a bit, didn't quit and worked on one project. Your work ethic and ability to look back and give some insight on previous experience are great qualities. Keep going :)
oh man thank you so much, I'm in the last hours of a game jam right now, feeling the crunch. Reading this probably made my week
The arts are STUNNING
your art is so good
awesome (kind of but not really) devlog! excited for your future stuff, you're an incredible musician & artist
The art is so beautiful
Thank you so much :)
04:32 That loot drop is so beautiful, damn...
Can I ask you what setup you use for working with pixel art in Godot? Do you use a pixel perfect viewport or just go with canvas_items (or 2d in Godot 3) mode?
Amazing 👍
Looking forward for more content bro
Your art is great
your game art is awesome!
Thank you!!
Really resonating with this video xD I'm learning pixel art for a year now and wish to be able to work on more projects but don't know how to join them my friends are more into software than gamedev ^^" so I'm learning godot now
Also side note Enter the Gungeon is one of my favorite game ever xD
nice video 👀
If every game had art this good I would note care about it not being 3D .
Great video, keep it up!
Thank you!
youtube detected your last game as enter the gungeon i thinks that says it all about your art skills
keep up the good work
enter the gungeon is amazing art, I don't think I'm half as good as the nice things people say here, but hopefully I get better with time :)
Easy sub, what a solid video
That title is confusing, but I clicked so maybe it worked lol
Anyway, really great video I'm hyped to see what's next
haha yeah I'm still pretty new to the titling and video stuff!
Man i really wish i had more time to learn art and music but with the recent Unity drama now I'm learning Godot and GD script, it's quite a setback for me. I am determined though, even if it takes everything I have, I'd rather drain my energy dry doing something I love than sit around doing nothing at all!
Hey, nice vid :) - can you tell me what song you're using for the "Work History" section onward? Thank you!
Oh it’s great artist who posts on RUclips under “nonamenosocks” they do amazing pixel art too, it’s incredible
@@mz_eth Thank you :D
cool art style, good luck with godot :)
Thank you!
show this guy some love man
I didn’t really think anyone would see this, so I’m floored by all you guys. All just so incredibly nice ❤
Ayo wtf, where are the viewers?
The video seems to indicate its from HeartBeast but just to clarify, what is the super cool tutorial you mention?
Sure it's a bit lo-fi but that Diablo clone art is pretty sweet.
THATS MY FUCKING GUY LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO THE ZELDA MUSIC INTRO IS SO YOU
what color palette did you use in lithium
Haha I’m actually so bad with that stuff, I actually never use color pallets.
Bro, how did you make that frog effect in 00:00
Do you have a Discord server for your game development journey? I'd love to join and follow along.
Can you make a tutorial on how to create the campfire scene and the character playing the guitar?
Where did you learn how to make pixel art
Is there still a download for the game called "Lithium"?
It looked awesome as awesome as the video of course. Great job!
Thanks, not currently, but if my friend was ever interested in coming back to it especially as a smaller multiplayer project, I think it would be really fun to do.
@@mz_ethThanks for telling me and definitely I agree, keep me updated if possible :)
Hypeee
Lithium looked fun.
Otherwise, love your art!
oh thanks, it was really fun to work on and the multiplayer really had some potential, I didn't touch on this in the video, but it felt really scary to focus on a multiplayer game as an indie dev. Like the game would be unplayable without a player base.
Lithium was a lot of fun. I got to play test it at one point. Hopefully it gets completed at some point.
Where would you recommend for me to learn Pixel Art, and would you recommend Godot over Unity/Unreal for indie game dev? If so, where to learn Godot?
And what kinds of things would you recommend for learning art in general too?
Is godot alright to learn? I know a tiny bit of python but absolutely suck at learning code
I think so! There's a great community of videos/tutorials for it
inspiring
great art
Thank you!
Hey Michael!
I thought your arts were incredible! I would like to learn pixel art. Can you recommend a pixel art course to me?
I’m not sure about a course, but AdamCYounis’s youtube channel definitely helped me a lot youtube.com/@AdamCYounis?si=4QsJ5xunl8bGmM88 some great videos there
I was not subsciribng?! Sorry man! I love your content
Hey, i am in the moment of my life when i would love to start video games... But i kinda lost. It seems i have to handle so many things. But this is not what scares me more. The scarriest thing is that i still have to generate money for a living, spending 8 hours in a day by doing my job. And there is not that much time left after to progress will. It seems the process can take infinite amount of time... Could you give any advice?
hmmm did you played soul knight before?
I haven't but people say that my main character style looks similar. I think its just a "chibi" pixel art style, but that game made it popular to a lot of people
@@mz_eth yeah actually not just the art the existence of the cat also surprised me a lot. but not gonna lie, the chibi style pixel art is quite handy.
Bro.. just use the weapons from lithium as relics or very special guns in the roguelike
your art style is fucking fantastic
Thank you!
You've got some good art. Perhaps you just need to team up with the right person/people
Add a gun
I have! most of my recent youtube shorts cover the new project and theres a lot of shooting happening there :)
