- This time, I would like to introduce you to Butsuryuji Temple, located in Uda City, Nara Prefecture.
This temple is located in the eastern part of Nara Prefecture, to the southwest of a temple called ``Muro-ji'' in Uda City. Muro-ji is the main temple of the Muro-ji sect of the Shingon sect, and Buturyu-ji, which is of the same sect, is a subsidiary temple.
The temple is said to have been built by Kenne, a disciple of Kobo Daishi Kukai, who is known for establishing Mt. It is also said that Shuen lived here.
As the birthplace of Yamato tea, a specialty of Nara, there is a tea mortar that Kukai brought back from the Tang Dynasty in the main hall, and you can enjoy Yamato tea at the temple office, so you can feel the connection with tea. Masu.
Nara Prefecture is also famous for its oldest cherry tree (900 years old), and the prefecture has a rare variety called ``Mochizukizakura,'' which is a hybrid of ``Yamazakura'' and ``Edo Higanzakura.'' designated as a natural monument.
In the spring, cherry blossoms bloom, and in the fall, the red red spider lilies that surround the long stone steps delight visitors.
