Thank you! Somebody just quoted me $300 to do this and I said I think I'll do it myself. About the same as an oil change and I don't know why I was so intimidated by this job.
@@theguyofalltrades so does my 2015 GMC Acadia have a filter and does that need to be replaced? experiencing TC slipping currently but thought I'd do a full flush like you did and then try some Lucas Transmission Fix. Great video btw.
There is a filter but it is not a serviceable item. Transmission has to be dropped out and the 2 Transmission cases have to be split to get to it. The lucas Transmission addative is a good product.
@@theguyofalltrades interesting, I did a transmission flush at 155k miles and now at 162k miles I’ve noticed some slight jerking and increase temp when driving highway speeds, temp fluctuates between 205 to 228 degrees… any idea why or how I can bring it back down to normal temp range?
I had 10 quarts when I did the change. The first draining was just over 4 quarts the second was closer to 4.5. I think maybe 2 gallons and s quart would be good
Hey, quick question.. can the drain plug be reached without ramps? I mean, I know it’s more convenient to have the vehicle lifted, but can it be done on the ground?
Recommended by Honda to do it twice otherwise it’s not a full flush. Half of the 9-10 quarts is in the torque converter so the only way to get most of it replaced is to flush twice. Color of the fluid definitely changed between the two times
@@theguyofalltrades I drained and filled 2 more times. This time the car had been parked and was not at operating temperature like it was the first two times. Maybe i got more out because it was hot.
Why why can't they at least talk about the FILTER ?? AND YES IF IT HAS AN EXTERNAL COOLER THEN YOU CAN ADD AN IN LINE FILTER !!!!!!!!!!! AT YOUR OWN RISK ((( BECAUSE IF IT LEAKS YOUR THEN IN TROUBLE !! ))
Honestly the same amount of 4-4.5 quarts comes out even on a lift. Level would be ideal but for most diy’ers they have to contend with their sloped driveway.
If you have a sloped driveway use ramps at the bottom of your driveway with your car facing down hill. Drive down the driveway up onto the ramps. You may need to move your ramps forward or back depending on how sloped your driveway is but if done right the front of your vehicle is lifted and your level.

It can be on some cars if you have to drop a transmission pan and do the filter/gasket. Glad it helped and thanks for watching!

1:45 when you say “back up to temp” what is the running temp of a 17 gmc Acadia SLE FWD?
170 to 199 is normal temp for most transmissions. I basically drive it around until the temp steadied out. 10 minutes or so

Maybe try some of the Lucas oil transmission additive.
My 13 Acadia is shuddering as soon as it shifts to 3rd gear about 80% of the time. Could it be my fluid and filter causing this?
There’s no filter. How many miles and has the fluid ever been changed?
Have you changed fluid yet? Results?
I believe it's your torque converter that causes shudder
So total quarts used was like 8 ?

Does this apply to the 2019 v6 AWD model also?
I’m pretty sure they updated the transmission probably in the 2018 model
Question do I need to run vehicle before starting to flush trans fluid?
Nope I would avoid it because the transmission fluid will be hot. It’s already very thin in viscosity so it will splatter even more when draining
@@theguyofalltrades I thought so, thanks for the reply 👍🏼
Welcome!
Hey, quick question.. can the drain plug be reached without ramps? I mean, I know it’s more convenient to have the vehicle lifted, but can it be done on the ground?
Yeah you can reach it. I guess only concern is how your getting a drain pan under it
@@theguyofalltrades thanks for responding, going to give it a try this weekend. At least it seems a lot easier than most!
Yeah it was pretty easy
@@trclark7689 use jackstands and chock those back wheels! be careful.
@@ctnicetune141 thanks for the advice, my local GMC dealer does it for $50 so I’m just going to let them do it.
Hi, I have a question, how many miles do you drive before the second change?
Just drive a few miles until it warms up
@@theguyofalltrades thanks
i have a 2017 acadia gmc and i need to add to it how do i do that ??
Look at the section in the video where I refill. It shows exactly where
Do you have an issue with interior lights not working?
@theguyofalltrades
Nope everything seems to work fine. What’s the issue. Not coming on when you open door or hit switch?
@theguyofalltrades both I even replaced the headlight switch and still nothing.
I assume you checked the fuse?
I have a 2014 acadia denali with 93,000 miles. Im start to feel it slipping a bit, but what is the average cost a garage will charge for this service?
Probably close to $500. At least that’s what a flush was on my f150 but it’s a much larger transmission
@@theguyofalltrades wow!
@@therealponisher9588 Yeah exactly lol
By slipping, do you mean a wired shaking during excellorating?
@hidenwatch7592 its more like when it's going into next gear there is a noticeable rough tug .... hope I'm making sense
Why do you do it twice? Why isnt one change enough? The second time gets more crud out, cleans better?

Once is better, some some high mileage cars can start slipping when you change all of it.
I only got 4 qts, 4 oz out, and that was after sitting all night. I thought it would be more like 5.5 qts from what I read on the forums.
I was surprised at how little came out compared to what I put in.
Your old fluid makes mine look good! I’m going to do mine today. Haven’t been able to find dex 6 in this small town 🤞
Maybe Amazon?
Napa got in 12 quarts. I bout 5, drained 5 3/4 measured quarts, made it back in time to buy the last one . All good now 😁👍
Check fluid with engine running
I get same results with engine up to temp but not running
I’ve done my Enclave twice now. Drained 6-7 quarts every time. But all the videos I watched, y’all drained 4-5 quarts. Weird.
Torque converter holds a ton the ways it’s configured for some reason
I even tried tilting the car more and still 4.5 quarts
Not at all weird ... your set LEVEL of car on jack stands .. MEANS ALLOT 😂... NO JOKE !!!
@@theguyofalltradesalways ... IF YOU LEAVE IT SET FOR 2- 5 HOURS .. THEN THE CONVERTOR MAY MAY MAY DRAIN 1/2 THE WAY OUT
